Harry Potter: The End of Days

Recommended Posts

2017 marks a very special year in Potter history with it being the very last date the books covered. 2017 is the years of the Harry Potter epilogue and 10 years after the final book was released and 20 years after the first book was released. I think it would be lovely to celebrate this end with a convention to give the books a send of.

I think it would be amazing to run a weekend convention for this. Can you imagine guests running round with Hogwarts ties on? You could even have a Yule Ball party theme and everyone could dress up amazingly. The cosplay would be totally amazing as well, have death eaters, dementors, werewolves. The Harry Potter fandom now have their own inspired bands which could come and play.

You could see if there were any of the choreographers free to do workshops on duelling. See if there were any special effects people free to do a creatures workshops. Or even a flying broomstick workshops.

I adored seeing Alfie Enoch at Collectormania and it would be awesome to see some of the faces that we grew up with. I honestly think it would be amazing even if you couldn't get the big big big stars to come. You could also combine that with A very Potter Musical and see if any StarKid people want to join in as well.

SOOOOOO many people are a fan of Harry Potter and I think a lot of people would want to go to one more convention to give it a send off and I really think that there would be a market for it?

Anyone think that would be awesome to do?

Sounds good, loved the books and movies and got some Harry Potter autos, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters,.

Might even get the whole family coming to that.

YES YES YES YES please. I know of about ten people who would come for that from abroad, this would be the best thing ever, I´ve been to a HP London premiere and to the studios in Leavesden, a con would fit in nicely!!

Make this so! As long as the main cast could be there for signings/photos then the rest would fall into place :)

sounds like an awsome idea stephy. id love it if showmaster were to do something like that. also with a new set of movies coming out might be able to get someone from one of those to come too? i love harry potter and have been asking showmaster if they could do some harry potter thing. id love to do a wand workshop, have a green screen, listen to a talk form some of the people who were in harry potter, even hearing about the making of harry potter from people who wee behind the camera. Evne if this was a 1 off thing i think it would be a big success.

YES! This would really be epic! I really would love a Harry Potter Event again. I would even organise one myself but can't do so without legit help, sadly I had no E-Mails back when I sent my ideas. I am sure the Events would still work. Maybe there will be one soon, or the Special End of Days one in 2017

I think a harry potter convention even if it were to be just a 1 off event would be awesome. I can just imagine all the people dressed up in their best clothes for a yule ball themed party. I would love the idea if broom stick or duelling classes and there could be a green screen where people could have a picture of themselves either flying a broom or flying the flying car. I'd definitely pay to go. I'v still not managed to meet any of the harry potter cast even though i have been going to showmaster events since 2009. I always seem to have been at the events on the opposite day to when the harry potter guest attended or unable to attend the event. I have been asking showmasters for a while if they would be able to have an event for harry potter. this (2017) seems like such a good time to throw one. Ye i know showmaster may not be able to get the TOP level guests as they are all busy but maby some of the lesser ones or ones they have had before they might be able to get? such as those who played- katie Leung (cho chang), Evanna Lynch (luna lovegood), John hurt (mr olivander), Arthur bowen (Albus severus potter), Jessie Cave (lavender), Alfred Enoch (dean thomas), Georgina Leonidas (Katie Bell). Hugh Mitchell (colin creevey). PLEASE showmaster a one off harry potter event would be AMAZING i'd love to see everyone going around with wands wearing their house robes.

I would love a Harry Potter con any time, but if 2017 is the best year, then I don't mind :D Maybe it could be something like Sherlocked, a one-off event back up by some big company? Then at least one of the main actor could surely attend. Please, SM, I know you've run one weekend HP con and the second one was canceled, but maybe it's time to put something togetehr again?

Think it would be amazing....would definitely go. The cast list is endless and could imagine that say Evanna Lynch would be a possibility of someone who would like to get involved etc!

Imagine there would have to be approval from both WB and the incredible JK Rowling though, which makes it tricky and I guessing why there has never been one before?

There must be a reason why as its one of the most popular and enduring franchises.

A fantastic idea, would love to see this happen.... :)

Totally agree with everything that has been said to Harry Potter themed show would be excellent I really could see the party theme like be your ball being a great addition to the van like this I do think it is feasible at some point in the future but as someone above has already mentioned I imagine showmasters would have to have some involvement with WB to make it happen, fingers crossed.

If this happens, the con gets bonus points if the main room is done up to look like the great hall. Just sayin. ;)

Absolutely fantastic idea, this has so much potential to it, you could add so many different formats to have a full list of guests even if it's not all main stars it would still be incredible.

As suggested even beyond the many stars that have appeared in the series, I think almost any hard core Potter fan would love to meet the people behind the scenes, especially the fx department who brought so many different creatures to life as well as create the backdrops that made the magical world feel so real.

And thinking away from the actual movie franchise, I obviously began life as a book so you could bring in the artists who created the fantastic covers as well as the different scenes in the Pottermore website and why not bring in an audiobook reader too.

Also next year will begin the theatre production of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, so why not bring in some of the talent who worked on that.

Another possibility could be for actual props, set pieces and maybe even a vehicle or two to be put on display.

The arena (or hall) could be decorated to look like Hogwarts as well as a few other choice locations in the wizarding world and of course it wouldn't be complete without some of the foods, sweets and drinks made famous in the books.

This is the kind of event if done right would bring in a huge crowd and could potentially be ShowMasters greatest convention yet. Though only if done correctly, us Potterheads expect greatness from our fandom and purely relying on a few big guests to make the show wouldn't cut it.

If ShowMasters goes for this, they should bring their A game to ensure every little detail is thought through I would happily go to this even if it's an event style convention which I typically avoid, for Harry Potter I would definitely go without doubt.

There's still so many Potterheads, and as Brian said with "The cursed child" in Theatres this would totally be a great event and surely draw in quite a few attendees.

I would be massively up for this! It would be such a great weekend. You could even arrange something so that when you buy your ticket you get 'sorted' into a house (which could make it easier for people to cosplay, and also ensure there is a good mix of houses on display) and introduce little challenges over the weekend that would earn your house points, then the winning house could be announced at the end of the weekend, with everyone who is part of that house getting a special gift to go home with...
