  1. I agree, although natural immunity probably won't last too long with all the mutations, and there's a risk of complications if you get ill, so I'm still going to wear a mask to try and avoid it. Wearing a mask is just a mild inconvenience, not like lockdown (never want to go back to that). That's why I'm going to use FFP2 masks, the ones that offer the highest protection. And fingers crossed! I know that doesn't guarantee anything, but anything I can do to minimize the risk I will do.

  2. Just had the following email - Hi Geoff Thank you for booking to see one of our diamond pass guests at London Film & Comic Con 2022. We are very excited to be back at Olympia London and to be able to bring you some of your film & TV heroes. We have a brand-new system for diamond pass collection which we wanted to let you know about. This email includes a scannable code that you will present when you get on site. This will instantly print your bespoke diamond pass based upon what you have ordered. We hope that this new system will be quicker, more efficient, and environmentally friendly as it will reduce waste. The location of where to pick these up remains the same as previously instructed and the passes can be collected at the Grand Box Office, opposite the train station. We look forward to seeing you at the event. The Showmasters Team Not sure if it means instead of handing us the envelope with the 'Dog Tag' in, the SM staff will print a DP there and then, or there is some sort of machine that scans the barcode & prints off the DP. Does this mean the end of the plastic dog tag? Will be interesting to see what form the new DPs take.

  3. I’m fairly concerned at the general blasé attitude to Covid at the moment, especially given the historic death toll and as we don’t know what the long term effects will be. Let’s not forget, the main reason that masks are no longer mandated is because Boris and his cronies got caught partying away whilst the nation respected the rules, to the extent that they couldn’t even be with loved ones when they passed on, alone. The Govt lost all authority on the subject once Partygate made the news. I won’t listen to that buffoon and his self serving cabinet about anything, let alone about “living with” Covid. His days in office are numbered… I’m not going to LFCC this year mainly because of the increased Covid risk, but having said that there aren’t many good guests left that interest me after all the cancellations… Stay safe everyone!

  4. Just wondering, do some guests still allow phone camera selfies/personal photos at their singing desks these days? I know not all do, but is it still a thing?

  5. Thanks for that. Sadly just what I had assumed since no official announcement from Showmasters. I guess Kurtzman wasn't available to do it all over again. I'm sure the MUAs are very capable, but I also worry that on the day his make-up will look a little off. Hopefully these prosthetic appliances come pre-painted and/or they've had plenty of practice!

  7. I'm going for the first time in three years and purchased a gold for the first time too just so I can have the best possible experience back after so many years. It will speed up many things from years I've been and seen them being used. As for by how much it depends on what you want to use them on. Myself is the gold entrance on day 2 and 3 will be faster. Talks everything but diamond guest talks will be a huge benefit. If you are concerned about any benefits of gold bring a printout of all the gold benefits to show them.

  8. The replies started of so well reassuring even then ... it's tumbled down since I've been wearing surgical masks even before vaccinated I find they provide a great seal on my face and 98% filteration masks have to be changed every four hours so maybe this is why some think they don't work when they are just applied and not changed. I respect the choice of others not to wear them but others who do should also have views respected. I've tried FFP2 and can't get them to create a seal as good as the masks I had been using all along.

  9. Thought you might like to know that Robert has tweeted out the following regarding the make up: "Just heard the SFX makeup artist applying my Freddy prosthetics at the London Film and Comic Con (July 9) worked on two of my favorite shows, THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW and PEAKY BLINDERS. Can’t wait to ask questions about those projects. Sweet Dreamz!" I know that doesn't add to much information but it's something.

  11. Disappointed about Michael, been waiting to meet him for ages, hadn't decided what I was going to get him to sign (maybe a copy of Splinter Cell). Have to wait until Winter, fingers crossed I can go.

  12. Yeah you can use them at the onsite Sales desk, so you can buy photo's with them, get auto vouchers that you can then use in place of cash at the guests tables.

  13. Very disappointed about Graham. Luckily for me there are still a lot of guests to see. Especially with the many Star Trek actors (I only got into Star Trek in recent years, so my Star Trek autograph library is still far from complete). But I know people who are very disappointed as they are left with basically no one they need/are interested in.

  15. You can assume any headliners won't be doing them Saturday.

  16. I know what you mean, I've just lost two as well. I know it's the nature of cons and certainly with Covid still around it makes things a bit volatile but still it's quite disappointing. Bit like you this used to be the highlight of the year for me but have felt quite underwhelmed the last few shows.

  17. Yes some do :-) but not many bigger guests will. It is down to looking what they are doing on the day. Hope for the best I say.

  19. Oh no I’ve just spent the last few days building a “V” gun and altering a visitor mask specifically because Michael and Robert E would be there.

  20. The daft thing is, unless it’s an uber high end surgical grade mask, it’s not going to protect you. It’s designed to stop you infecting others. The concept of universal mask wearing was to massively prevent transmission vectors, not reception vectors. With barely anyone wearing masks, wearing one yourself is going to do nothing to stop you catching covid. Just respect for meeting guests and protecting them.
