  5. My only event of the year but worth the wait. I had a relatively quiet but fun weekend. All the guests I met were very friendly and seemed to enjoy being there and meeting their fans. Some great cosplayers again. Far too many to mention but it's always a joy to see you. The crew were great. All the ones I met were very helpful. Some of the more popular photo shoots and auto queues got a bit chaotic but that was down to too many people descending on an area before they needed to. Happens every time and the crew always do their best. Biggest shout outs go to (and I'm sorry to say I didn't get their names) the guy at the Olivia Cooke auto queue who let me join slightly early (up to vq 90 and I had 94 so sue me. Pays to be friendly and polite to get a good pay back). And an extra special mention to the photographer at the green screen where patient and perseverance got those who chose to regenerate the photo they wanted even though the photographer lost the will to live! I would also like to thank ShowMasters for remembering this weekend was about more than comic con. There was a poignant pause at 11.00 for both Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. Looking forward to joining you all for one (or maybe more) events next year.

  7. People have always expressed disappointment over guests on here, I think the difference is that there used to be active moderators to curb too much complaining. Those mods were also responsible for a lot of the type topics. This place never really bounced back after Queen Sindel's departure for example.

  8. The forum feels like an airport at 2am. The only real activity is the announcements but hardly anyone is around to hear them and those who are are the tired frequent fliers.

  9. I had an absolute blast yesterday at my first LFFC since 2016, when Dolph Lundgren and Rutger Hauer were my main guests. Chuck Norris, Cynthia Rothrock and Scott Adkins are names I thought I'd never see at a Showmasters event. When Chuck was announced I knew I had to travel to London. I travelled down to London from Glasgow on the overnight Megabus because accommodation was so expensive on the Saturday night (a gruelling trip with a two-hour delay but so worth it!) and will travel back by train to Scotland this afternoon. I have to say that I was lucky that none of the cancellations were big names for me. All six guests I met (photo shoots and autographs) were fantastic. I appreciate that many of the more 'traditional' SM fandoms were perhaps ot served as well as in previous years but this edition was right up my street.

  12. Just wanted to put this out there. The crew members manning Olivia's autograph queue on Saturday, which was very out of hand and growing too long, were incredibly calm and professional and kind. I was second to last in the queue when they decided to cut it off until it went down a little so I was talking to them a bit and got to see them turn people away, repeatedly explaining that the queue was currently closed and to try again later. Most people were understanding of this but one couple in particular stood out to me because they were instantly argumentative, waving their diamond passes around and shouting that they should be allowed into the queue and that this was ridiculous, bla bla bla. The guy behind me just stood his ground and repeated what he'd already told them, the queue needed to go down and then they could join. When I was nearer the front of the queue and they opened the line back up again, the couple showed up again and the man started shouting about how it wasn't fair that other people were getting to join the queue before them (you both wandered off and came back, of course people would join ahead of you in that case... you're not special, guy). I don't think I would have kept my cool if I was in charge of running the queues, so I just wanted to shoutout to those guys because they did a really good job trying to keep things calm and fair in a very stressful queue. And another shoutout to the guy running Olivia's photoshoot queue. My summer ticket rolled over but no longer had the batch info attached, so when I went to the AM shoot I was told I'd have to come back in the afternoon. Fair enough. Came back for the PM shoot and the guy there told me that without batch info, I'd have to wait until the end of the shoot, but if I could find the original batch info he'd see what he could do. So I found the original confirmation email from when I purchased the original ticket for summer, which showed I was in batch 2, and when I showed him he said I could go queue up with the batch 1s after the diamonds and golds had gone through. He didn't have to do that, and I was expecting him to just tell me to wait for batch 2 to be called so I really appreciated that he did that! Also sales desk staff were great, helped me sort out my Tony Todd photoshoot ticket with no issues. Everyone I spoke to was very nice and professional yesterday!

  13. Thank you! I got a few photos of her during the signing. My favourite is the one where I give her the gift bag I've had ready for her since July. Her face when I tell her she's getting sweets and Lush stuff and a necklace (for some reason I had to gesture a lot to communicate this)

  17. I think there are two reasons why this forum is dead these days. Of course, covid is one as that caused some controversial decisions by some companies that put people off, but I also think the loss of the well known mods on here had a big impact as well.

  20. I know what you mean. Although there is a range of guests this is looking like the second event this year where I am not really tempted - although there are a few on the 'would be nice if I was there' list. I am ever hopeful that the winter event will, for me, be more appealing - especially as it's close to the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who. In case anyone is in any doubt who I would like to see announced I'll just leave this here.....

  21. Cynthia is a goddess, and incredibly underrated. She's easily as important as JCVD, the difference being she didn't get a shot as a leading lady in a major large budget movie. She's very similar to Steve James in that regard - had as much charisma and ability as anyone working at that time, but never got a real shot at the big time. Very excited to meet her - the first time I saw one of her movies I was 11 years old. She's both beautiful and badass. Well done, Showmasters, you've done a great thing here, I'll be asking her to sign multiple items for sure. I even have a factory sealed copy of China O'Brien on VHS, which I will bring along.

  31. Finally, belatedly, able to watch Saw X... My expectations were astoundingly low after the disappointments of Jigsaw and Spiral. Oh, my god. Saw X is truly worthy of all the hype it's getting. This is what I've been missing since Saw 3D. THIS is the plot based drama I've been craving. Tobin Bell's performance? Shawnee Smith? The quality of the traps? The quality of the movie overall? The mid credits scene? 10/10 holy hell I never thought I'd say this but they actually did it, they actually pulled off a Saw sequel-but-actually-its-a-prequel and made it work.
