ukgator
I just hope SM are able to bring in someone to replace the calibre of the guests who cancelled (Frakes and Lang). Get in Ornella Muti !!!! At the moment as I am more of a movie buff the only guests I am seeing is Kristanna Loken. I will not be about for CML so I was gutted when Lang cancelled as I love the films he was in (TOMBSTONE, GETTYSBURG and GODS AND GENERALS). When I go to cons I like to meet the cult film guests and some of the TV too and any of the major guests who will be interesting to meet so I hope we get some more of these. Looking positively at it all - If not it will be a cheap one for me.

gibbo247
Personally since a Star Trek guest cancelled, i think it should be a Star Trek person to replace that person. It feels like us Star Trek fans are missing out, while others gain! As (this is just me speaking) i have no real interest in Star Wars and Twilight. To be honest, i'm not interested in any horror people unless you get the wishmaster over!

Assuming people were meeting him for Star Trek .. other people might want him for something else, and think the 'replacement' should be from that. So you're not worried about whether you will enjoy the event, but whether other people / fanbases will enjoy it more ? I was meeting The Frakes for Thunderbirds. Yes, seriously. And I for his role in 'North and South' - so get me Patrick Sw.. oh wait. Uhm .. Elizabeth Taylor to replace him - no wait, that would still be a Star Trek type replacement. Uhm .. Kirstie Alley. Damn no, still Star Trek-y. I think at the end of the day, stars overlap various fandoms, and fans usually don't only have one fandom they follow either. As such, 'replacing' one guest with one from a certain fandom will not be necessary; certainly you can find stuff from other shows/movies that you'll enjoy doing? Too true, I admit right here and now that I am not/have not/will not ever be a Star Trek fan, BUT Patrick Stewart did star in a hysterical episode of Frasier and I would have liked to get his signature on the season box set. When I was younger I used to Love T.J. Hooker - oh, and a slightly naff film called National Lampoons Loaded Weapon 1. But, I would be unsure if both Stewart and Shatner would think I was taking the p if I asked them to sign rather than something they are more known for. Not like hes performed works from the Bard or anything (sarcasm).

Quite the opposite, I gather they are more likely to take notice, and depending on their mood talk about another role. Trek stuff they see so much of that it's pretty much done on autopilot. At collector, instead of asking Chris Barrie about Red Dwarf/Spitting Image/Brittas - seeing I'm an Angelina fan "TEAM JOLIE" I asked him about Tomb Raider and so that was quite an interesting chat we had

Michael is part of the E4 udderbelly show at the moment and is playing in Sutton Coldfield this Sunday and Monday.
