There are several people who believe no photos' doesn't apply to them! Concerts and sporting events rarely last all day and even if they do it's not the same person there all day. Here is a test to all those who don't care, sit in a chair and get a friend to take flash photo's of you every few seconds for 6/7 hours for 2 days and see how you feel after that Some people get migraines you know. It never is just a couple of people saying "oh just let me take one" there are always those who do their own thing, as others have said, they take multiple pics because the first wasn't quite right, or they can't turn the flash off because they don't know how or they just don't care.

When is an Autograph, an Autograph?
Raylenth replied to riversidejon's topic in London Film & Comic Con
Yeah I've got the definition of signature as: : the act of signing one's name to something b: the name of a person written with his or her own hand, something (as a tune, style, or logo) that serves to set apart or identify; also : a characteristic mark and an autograph as: : something written or made with one's own hand: a: an original manuscript or work of art b: a person's handwritten signature. So as long as it's something that the person in question writes regularly it qualifies. -
Do you all just take the risk that it is actually the actor in questions auto and it hasn't been signed by an assistant?

When is an Autograph, an Autograph?

I define an autograph as the actors signature and I interprete a signature as whatever they would sign official documentation with. -
Maybe post this in the guest suggestion thread?

God no, these people do not deserve the attention.

http://www.uktradingcards.com/tree/8 It's mainly for trading cards but they do sell the sleeves. As Fry said buy the Ultra Pro stuff. You don't want to find in a few years that you have a signed sleeve and a blank photo! -
Which guest is gonna have longest queue?
Raylenth replied to my*wife*says's topic in Collectormania MK
I think the Heroes guys will be busier as well. They might not have been over for a while but Michael and Chris have done lots of cons over here, so I think everyone will head to the Heroes people first. -
Patrick Stewart and dedications ....

Especially if everyone has their names clearly written on a sticky note attatched to the pic/item it is quick to personalise, then they only have to look at the note and write it down, no having to ask and struggle over accents and spellings then! It really makes a difference having your name on there. -
Also if their is time for the guest to personalise the autographs and your friends want their names on the auto it is best to write their names in block lettering on a sticky note and attatch it to the photo/item you want signed. That means that when you put the picture down in front of the guest, their is less chance of them spelling your friends names wrong - accents can make a simple name seem strange, and there are alternative spellings to consider. This will help as well when you are getting things signed for lots of different people.

You generally pay on the day. when your number has been called you join the auto queue. Just before you get to the table with the guest on there will be a table covered in photos of the guest with a very nice crew member sitting behind. You tell them how many autos you want and give the money to them, they will then give you a 'ticket' with the number of auto's you have paid for marked on it. You give this 'ticket' to the crew mwmber sitting next to the guest. There is a pre order service through MSPG but this is mainly for people who cannot make the show. You don't really use them if you are going to be there.

Also there is a bit more room for queueing with the current arrangement.

He's had to cancel 2 UK events now so I'd love to finally get to meet him - he'd be a good Stargate guest.

Yes, but C12 is the week before Halloween - a time of year when it's generally cooler and less sunny. Indeed, given sod's law, the existence of this thread practically guarantees that we're now in for the coldest end of October since about 1674 or something With 10 ft snow drifts and all motorways and railways into MK blocked!

There are problems with most solutions. This has been discussed many times in the past - I believe it's been said that sometimes a guest many bring their own photo's and SM might not know what they are until the day. Also if SM list what photo's are due to be available, people might complain if they don't then have them or run out "I really wanted picture x, you said you would have it, you've ruined the whole experience for me now" It might not be the ideal solution but as has been said many times over - if you are looking to get something specific signed, bring it with you or take your chances. I usually get a poster and an 8x10 signed. That way if they don't have the 8x10 I want I can still get the sig on my poster. Or look at the tables before you get in the auto queue and visit the stalls if you don't see what you want.

It's really easy on the trains, especially if you get one of the quick Virgin ones. They go into Euston and it's really easy to get on the underground. It can be a little daunting getting the underground for the first time but all you need to do is make sure you know your route before hand. Know what tube lines you need, where you need to swap trains and which station to get off at. The tube staff are usually very friendly so don't hesitate to ask them directions if you get worried. There are always large maps of the underground on display and directions to the different lines are always well signposted. Platforms are usually opposite each other with signs showing which stations each side is going towards, just make sure you get the right platform, although it's not a problem if you get on the wrong train, just get off at the next stop and come back! Just remember to keep bags with you, and either stand on the right of the esculators or walk up on the left!

chiara72 - re your signature, Kryten is a far better than Data!

I also use the Ultrapro pockets and they seem fine so far. I've stored them in a ring binder, upright. Other than that you just have to keep them out of the sun and that should be it. If you frame any I think you can get a special uv protective glass, but that might be more expensive. Uktradingcards are a good company, I've used them on and off for a few years.

I'd say take stuff but have a back up handy. It's a bit wierd that she won't sign x files stuff.

Yes! I couldn't put it better myself. I've only been from the train station to the centre so haven't seen anymore of MK, but I agree it's not much to look at. However, as others have said the value of having it in a shopping centre is not seen many other places. Who hasn't found themselves with ages to wait until a ticket is called. At least at MK you have things to do. At many other cons/events i've found myself sitting on a concrete floor staring into the distance as ther is nothing to do. You can only look at the trade stalls so many times. Collectormania is by far the least boring event to go to.

There is no real easy answer i'm afraid as there are problems with each system you can come up with so in the end you have to go with the easiest/least problematical. One problem with the above option is if you don't want the main stars. Whilst I do like Star Trek, I mainly go to these shows for Stargate guests. I came down on Friday to meet Rene Auberjonois only. I'd have been severely pissed if I had to join a huge queue (if I'd have gone on Saturday instead) of people waiting for a ticket for Avery just to get one ticket for Rene! A similar system was used at a rival london event and it put me off. They had grouped guests around the halls on different tables - one main star with a couple of 'lesser' stars. You had to queue to pay at only one point near each table meaning everyone was paying and queueing for the big names, leaving the smaller guests with no one going to them as they were in massive queues - the guest I wanted to see had no one waiting for her but I gave up in the end because I didn't want to queue for ages to meet her, I had to go. I asked if I could pay the assistant but it was a no go as they don't handle the money any more (Which was fair enough but frustrating).
-
I know Showmasters and crew would have been very busy but maybe they could have found 5 mins to write up a sign to put at the front of the queue to prewarn people - as others have said it would have made everyone aware and saved the assistants getting hassled.

Nice to see you respect other peoples wishes then!
