angel_darkavenger
Hi guys, My names James and I usually just visit the MK collectormainia's as I live in MK but I have never crewed at any showmasters event, but this LFCC I will be crewing for the first time. I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi and maybe get to know some people before my first crewing experience. Anyone have any advice or reccomendations for my first crewing? Many Thanks James
elwebb
hi james i'm emma. i know i was nervous the first time i crewed but everyone was so lovely n friendly that i neednt have worried! as for the job itself, your prob be fine with having been to events you prob know how it all works, but if u get stuck or anything just ask someone. um..cant think of anything else, i'm sure others will have more advice! Moderators DavidB Posted June 19, 2006 Moderators Share Posted June 19, 2006 Check this section and see if people have MSN etc and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to chat to you and discuss stuff :) Rather than explain everything here, all I can say is that I'm sure everything will be explained to you in the morning of the event and there's pit bosses and fellow crew that you can ALWAYS ask if you're unsure about stuff. That's very important, don't ever be scared to ask for clarification on anything :) Other than that .. work hard, play hard, enjoy it, and don't expect much sleep Make yourself known, introduce yourself, and get talking to everyone ..you'll enjoy it a lot more if you do that, everyone's really friendly anyway! You've certainly done the right thing here
Keeper
my advice (never crewed, so i hope this is good advice ) is relax, don't worry too much, and ask questions if in need of help oh, and talk to ppl - theres plenty of them around there
angel_darkavenger
Hey, Thanks for the advice guys, I think more than anything it's nice to hear from other people that are crewing. Does any of the crew get together of an evening before after or during the events? James
Moderators DavidB Posted June 19, 2006 Moderators Share Posted June 19, 2006 There's usually a gathering in the hotel bar or something :) Most people are fond of alcohol
Keeper
if you haven't either passed out or else stayed up all night to go to crew the next morning (yes, drinkin i believe ) i don't think you've fully passed on your induction to the crew!! so they'll take you back to try again... ;)

Harry
There's usually a gathering in the hotel bar or something :) Most people are fond of alcohol It's that magic word again, where's the alcohol Only kiddin I'm not (much) of an alcoholic really Best advice is 1) If your not sure ask 2) drink plenty of water 3) The rest of the crew were all newbies once too, we don't bite we just nibble a little 4) This is the important one - Enjoy it Andy Oh and get you pic on Forums Most Wanted so we know who you are
Marina
Hi James and Kay Welcome to Showmasters crew. We are a mad bunch but friendly You'll have lots of fun working at LFACC, but its very hard work, you could be standing all day and they are very long days. We do have fun! The bar is our second home its where we relax after a hard days work and have a laugh, just come along and join in. You are part of the fold now. As what DavidB said, everything you need to know about crewing and the job you will be doing will be said at the briefing each morning. If you check out the general chat section, there is the forum most wanted, most of the crew are on there, so you will get to see what we look like before hand, just come up and say hi to us. And feel free to send you pics to Chris to join the most wanted! Welcome and look forward to seeing you both in just under two weeks! Hugs Marina xx Edited June 19, 2006 by Marina

Guest WaterBoy
Hi Guys, welcome to the Crew! The best advice I was given was EAT! Make sure that you have a good ("large") breakfast, as this will set you up for the day. Hope to see you there, Paul

Marina
Just follow us lot to get food, there is a MacDonalds and KFC about a 10 minute walk away, some of us will be probably go there, or there is a restaurant in the Ibis which can be pricey. Or a great pub just up the road, that does cheap meals. Just tag along to a group and follow, best way. Yep wear comfy shoes, grab some chocolate in the morning and a couple of bottles of water. If its as hot as last year (weather wise, you will need it) although Earls Court was cool. What time are you arriving on the Friday?
