KingRichard76
Official Trailer has just been released. Thoughts? Opinions?
Spacecadet is here
Really in two minds about this... Loved the Originals, The ghosts look good and Slimer is back so will go and see it just for the ghosts. Not going to expect to much from it.
Moderators StuartG2198 Posted March 3, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 3, 2016 Looks pretty good, I don't think it'll ever top the original but I look forward to watching it.
snot182
I'm not expecting it to be better that the originals but it looks like a lot of fun, looking forward to seeing it
nvirtue
When the opening title came up and said "30 Years Ago, Four Scientists saved New York" (We'll not quibble over the fact that Winston wasn't a Scientist) I literally got goosebumps as I thought they'd pulled a fast one and this new movie was actually, maybe not a true sequel, but set in the same universe as the other two movies. Then it became obvious that indeed it is a complete reboot. Goodbye goosebumps. I wish this was set in the same universe as the others, that alone would have me excited for this movie. As it is I feel a little hatred towards it and am uninterested. It is so frustrating as they have attached good people to the project and in doing so there is a chance this might be a good or great movie, I just wish they invested their talents in trying to attach it to the preexisting universe. I don't care that they have got Bill Murray et al to show up in cameo roles, I don't want to see Bill Murray in a Ghostbusters movie; I want to see Peter Venkman in a Ghostbusters movie!!!
Wrong Name
Looks like Bridesmaids with Proton Packs as I feared. Very upsetting.
only_jay
Don't think it looks terrible but I was kinda looking forward to it but the trailer was definitely underwhelming. Not a fan of Melissa McCarthy in it seen enough comedy films with her in to last me a lifetime, however I do like Kristen Wiig and will look forward to seeing her in it! Graphic_Delusions
Very underwhelming, Nearly 12,000 more dislikes on the official Youtube trailer and Sony are deleting all the top negative comments. What does that tell you?!! It looks like a chick flick with ghosts or, as Wrong Name put it, Bridesmaids with Proton Packs. They've replaced the smart witty humour of the original with stupidity.
Charmer
I'll watch this as it looks reasonably funny, but it'll never beat the originals for me.
KingRichard76
I've now watched the trailer four times to see if I can enjoy it, to be honest on the first viewing I enjoyed the nostalgia as it mentioned the original movie and the original Ghostbusters as I also liked the piano motif. Thing is I DO want to like it, and would like to say first and foremost I have no problem with the all female cast, I think its great what filmmakers are doing, Rey as the main lead in Star Wars and she carried the movie so well, with Finn being second fiddle as it were, Charlize Theron in Mad Max stole the show, and Emilia Clarke in Terminator. (Some of the comments I saw on youtube made me embarrassed to be a man). When the movie does come out I'll be wearing my threadbare Ghosbusters tshirt, noshing on popcorn and slurping on a pepsi whilst watching it - this is the thing with reboots/remakes and when Directors/Different Directors take the helm, a clear example is Indy, everyone enjoyed Raiders, but not everyone liked Temple of Doom (including Mr. Spielberg) everyone wanted another Indy, Mr. Spielberg, Lucas and Ford did so and we all know how that turned out, same with the Star Wars prequels. It'll be interesting to see what happens between now and the movies release.... WHO YA GONNA CALL?
snot182
people were always gonna slam this when the trailer was released regardless of how good or bad it may have been, people made their mind up on it as soon as it was announced. whether it was 4 women, 4 men or 4 horses even they weren't going to be happy, unless it was the original 4 guys they were always going to put a new one on blast I'll watch this when it comes out and if it sucks I will say it sucks but if it doesn't then I will say that too... I certainly won't judge it on the 2 minutes they have given us Edited March 4, 2016 by snot182
Indiana
Effects looked good, but didn't find any of it remotely funny.

As I said on FB - could be this years Fantastic Four. A movie no one really wanted, and hardly anyone saw.
SMD1984
I know, I'm late to the game (as always..lol) I for one am not going to watch this film when it gets released. I agree with most of the posts made here. When I saw the trailer for the first time, I was like "this looks terrible" and the jokes were painfully unfunny. It also felt like a SNL sketch, the original didn't have that feel to it, yes it was a comedy (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray being from SNL previously) but it was done in a way that the jokes were subtle, they were not laugh out loud jokes. The story line is also very similar to the original (almost a carbon copy) with using the Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man (in the 2nd trailer) and instead of using Gozer, they have someone being possessed by a demon being the antagonist. And as for them calling it a "Reboot" for me that means a completely new story, not using original story and them changing only a few bits. I personally have no problem with an all female cast but I believe the casting choices was poor, I don't think Melissa McCarthy is that funny and it is probably going to have a lot fat jokes in it like all her other films she has done. Just like Wrong Name and Graphic_Delusions has pointed out that it's Bridesmaids with proton packs. Rant over....lol. Sorry.

I agree with everything you say except I wanted to point out the giant ghost at the end of trailer 2 is not the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (although he does have a sort of cameo, I believe) but is in fact the ghost from the Ghostbusters logo. *Sigh* Lazy writing, if you ask me. There was actually a story outline put up on Reddit a couple of months ago by a guy who worked on post-production for the film, which just sounds terrible. A lot of people didn't believe him at first but as we got more merchandise and trailers, what he said was basically confirmed. I won't post any spoilers here though (well, unless you count what I wrote above about the logo ghost but if you watch the trailer, you can tell it's him). If you want to read it, go searching for yourself, it's not hard to find.
CHAPPiE13
I have always prided myself on giving a film a fair shake, even a remake. I will not see this in the cinema but will when it comes online.
rogue_entity
The original was a classic no doubt; it's a pinnacle of the 80s in the same way the Beatles were of the 60s. Generally remakes be it shot-by-shot (i.e. Psycho) or retellings (The Wicker Man) are generally met unfavourably there are a few exceptions to this (Night of the Living Dead, The Fly, The Thing, Dawn of the Dead...) but usually they are terrible. I will reserve judgement but I expect nothing more then a ripping yarn at best.
Spacecadet is here
Well, Just been to see the New Ghostbusters movie and liked it. Tourniquet
I saw it last night and loved it. I work in a cinema and everyone seems to be coming out having enjoyed it
snot182
was excellent, few unnecessary moments maybe but overall I really enjoyed it, loved the cameos and nods to the original and laughed a lot, the post credit scene was great too, very much hope they make enough money to warrant a sequal
KingRichard76
I went to see it uttering the mantra, "Please be good, please be good, please be good." Found myself being kinda thrilled, kinda chilled, kinda brilled, I really enjoyed what I saw, some good nods to the original, cameos that saw me whooping, and by far my favourite was Kate McKinnon, one got the feeling that like Bill Murray before her, she adlibbed practically everyline, she was definitely the star for me and would go again to see it just for her. In conclusion? Trailers dont always sum up how a movie is gonna be, I liked what I saw. :)
