rainbowsparkle
OK, sorry if this is a dumb question but the buses back to the station from the stadium - the second buses - do those in-between times run all day or stop at 11.30? It's just that my train home is 17.50 and I was wondering if the 17.30 bus would get me there on time or if I would have to catch the 16.30 and spend over an hour waiting for my train. Hence me wondering if there would be an in-between bus at, say, 17.10 that might be a better option? Thanks for any info :)

Moderators DavidB Posted May 28, 2009 Moderators Share Posted May 28, 2009 If people know when the buses are, then surely they can just aim to get there around the right time? They can't do buses all the time just in case someone gets there 5 minutes after it's gone. I think attendees have to take certain responsibility where they can. Queen_Sindel
Missing a bus is something that can happen to you every time you are going by bus anywhere. I really don't know why the bus running every hour does keep you away from the Centre. You'll be spending some time there anyway, so just time your stay to the bus schedule. Just be there in time, no need to leave extra early. If there's times scheduled the drivers won't be leaving 10 to 15 minutes earlier. If you really miss the bus and don't want to go by taxi, I am pretty sure there's a regular MK bus to Bletchley as well which costs 1 pound. Psychosis
They're FREE. They're not obligated to put them on. Why don't you do your business before you go and then you won't have the problem of expecting them to chauffeur you around with the exact timing that you need in the middle of the active day? Moderators DavidB Posted May 28, 2009 Moderators Share Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) All it means is that people need to be a bit more organised about their travel. Yes, it's not as easy as dropping in to the centre. No one's saying that. However, it's not impossible to get to, and anyone who knows what they're doing can organise their trip and be there when they need to be. Trains run to a schedule. Taxis might not be available. Buses you PAY for run to a schedule too. There's no way of being stuck to SOME schedule on the day if you're not getting driven around or driving yourself. Sorry, but most people will make the most of the free service, and actually just be sensible and as flexible as they can around it. Yes of course you'll get moaners but that's nothing new. You can't have a service like this suited to EVERYONE'S needs. No way. Edited May 28, 2009 by DavidB
Psychosis
Being stupidly out of the way doesn't stop "that" London event from getting crowded with attendees, and that London event isn't offering travelcards for the inconvenience. People need to stop expecting to be carried around by Showmasters and take some personal responsibility. They manage it fine at other events. I'm sure this will take a hit because it's slightly less convenient, but it's not different at all for probably the majority of attendees. If you were attending before and arriving by train, you either paid for a taxi to your hotel/the shopping centre, or you paid for a bus to your hotel/the shopping centre. This is free. Yeah, but THAT event, 90-95% of the attendee's are anime freaks desperate for pocky and free hugs! If you were attending before and arriving by train, you either paid for a taxi to your hotel/the shopping centre, or you paid for a bus to your hotel/the shopping centre. I never, nor do the several people I know who attend regularly, we walk!
chair89
i think many of us didnt like that the stadium was far. im going to MK for the first time, its a lot of travelling for me, im traveling by coach, im in newport south wales, i catch the coach from newport to birming ham and from birmingham to milton keynes, then from the MK coach station to the hotel. anyway my hotel is in the centre of the city, only 5 minutes walk to the shopping centre and to the train station. i should stand in shopping centre, because its 15minutes later than at the bus station. its alright catching a bus to the stadium, but the problem is you need to be there early, means you have to wake up quite early. thats the annoying thing of the event, i liked bedford, because the hotel i stayed in,it was only 10 minutes walk to the con. im hoping i dont need to stay very long in the stadium for three day, i would like see more of MK, likeing going out in the evening, my sister is coming with me, i read a lot of the xecape in MK. like to walk round the shopping centre. Dinobore
I love this thread! People are moaning about getting to the MK Dons stadium for Collectormania (but it's easy enough to get to LFCC, even when engineering works are being done on the train track). I would hate to think what football fans think about getting from CMK train station to the stadium (without free buses being provided). If you don't want to wait for the showmasters bus use the local bus services. The Point the giant red pyramid shaped building) whats in this building. It's a multiplex cinema (Odeon), bingo, bars ect. Edited May 29, 2009 by Dinobore
Queen_Sindel
Think of it like this: You want to pop to the center for whatever reason on the saturday (you may need to go to the post office or something like I have in the past) - Post office trip on Saturday? That would just about work out in an hour going from the queue last year.
yesindeed
you guys are complaining about how out of the way this is and how hard it's going to be to get to the stadium, any of you tried to get the the glasgow event? i'm assuming that MK is a small enough place that it has atleast 5-6 busses that go to the stadium or atleast near enough, possibly a train station close by aswell Glasgow has 3 busses that go from the City Center to the Event!!!! we have never complained once, in fact i personally went along and worked out where the fans could get these busses, told them where to get off, told them how to get to the buss stop from the train and bus station because i know from working in the center how much of a nightmare it can be to get there if you don't know it SM moved this event, there FLAGSHIP event as everyone calls it to this big stadium so they could get more guests, more dealers and make it a much more exciting day out for all of us and all you eegits are doing is complaining about not being able to get there, when there offering a FREE bus service?!
