Moderators etmuse Posted July 13, 2010 Moderators Share Posted July 13, 2010 A lot of people do dress up (to varying levels of complexity - everything from something bought in a shop to carefully created costumes) but not everyone. You won't be alone either way.
dragonsanddaffodils
You also see fab cosplayers at the shows too (I am RUBBISH at dressing up, by 11pm I have taken off all the accessories and it ends up looking like I didnt bother at all) lol
crazyminx
Angelus - as far as I can remember most people dress up on the fri and sat nights - maybe around 80-90% - but if you don't want to then there'll be plenty of other non-dressed-up people too so you should feel comfortable either way! If you're looking for a costume then there are a few fancy dress shops online, loads of outfits on Ebay or you can always pick a character's outfit from a particular Buffy episode and find similar clothes to wear Touchstone - sounds like great ideas esp Illyria - I love her!! I'd love to do an Illyria cosplay but not enough time/money/energy for such a complex outfit this year! I will have to have my photo taken with you if you do it Edited July 13, 2010 by crazyminx

Blackviolett
You also see fab cosplayers at the shows too (I am RUBBISH at dressing up, by 11pm I have taken off all the accessories and it ends up looking like I didnt bother at all) lol Me too, my lenses, veil and top hat had all gone bye bye by about 10pm on the Sat night least year and I actually think we were in bed by 12 lol. I plan to make MORE effort this year and party more. However, I cant possibly drink more than I did so that will stay the same.
Touchstone
Touchstone - sounds like great ideas esp Illyria - I love her!! I'd love to do an Illyria cosplay but not enough time/money/energy for such a complex outfit this year! I will have to have my photo taken with you if you do it Thanks yeah, I got the costume made earlier this year -when I actually had money - but I still need to get the wig and contacts (it's so hard to find the right shade of blue ) if I can't do it this con I'm definately doing it for the next (assuming there is a Hallowhedon 3 )

robertfryett
Just wondering, does everyone dress up at the ball and parties? Not sure if il have a costume wouldnt know how to go about getting one really!? Do people go in their normal clothes? Go to a costume shop? Sorry, can't resist a sarcastic comment :) I didn't dress up last year. I was hunting for a sticker so I could write 'Hi, my name is God' on it, but I was too hungover to actually hunt for it, so I didn't bother. It's not a massive deal if you don't, but I'll certainly be doing it this year.
fivebyfivefaith
Seriously though- can we have the party themes? This time last year, we knew- and the party themes for other ME cons have been advertised on the websites for ages. I've spent a lot of money on tickets and would like to know the party themes. Moan over .
vampiric_kitten
At this rate the only night i'll be dressing up is the Saturday night because I need time to plan and buy costumes and the later it gets with the themes the less likely that seems. Moderators etmuse Posted July 22, 2010 Moderators Share Posted July 22, 2010 Admittedly I'll probably manage to throw something together quite last minute - I've had practise since they NEVER give us the Hub party themes until the event is practically taking place (that one is a month before this one and we don't have themes for that either yet... and at least we have 'Halloween' for one night at this one!) - but sooner is always better than later :)
