Richard Dean Anderson?

I'm pretty new to the world of conventions. And i was wondering if anyone here has ever met Richard Dean Anderson? Me and my Friends would love to meet him but it seems like he doesn’t do conventions.

I think I speak for all stargate fans when I say that we would love to see him at Chevron 7.2, but i think that he might be too BIG for a small event.

Seen as I’m aiming high, I might as well ask for Will Smith and Angelina Jolie for the next LFCC too.

If anyone has ever met him I would love to hear about it and if you have any photos with him please post!

That was one quick reply. 2 mins after starting the topic, is that a record?

That’s what I didn’t want to hear. RDA isn’t getting any younger and with Don S. Davis passing away before I could have the pleasure of meeting him, I’m really desperate to meet as many stars from my favourite shows as possible.

I met him, when he did his first convention. He was really lovely, if a little shy. He is starting to make more appearances so you never know when he might come back to the UK.

That’s good to know, thanks. That means that I might be able to travel abroad to a convention and meet him for my 18th birthday or hold out and hope he does a uk one.

In the meantime I will settle for Amanda Tapping at Chevron 7.2 (hint hint)

I too met him and Amanda and it was wll worth the experience. I get the impression that he's not to fond of big events. It only had 125 for each session and if there's a big event they are only allowing a certain number of tickets to be availalble via a lottery for him.

Best £200 ever spent!!

Had the honour sitting next to him, if you check out RDA's website, updates on ..unnamed event Nov 2006, coffee & tea photo's..I'm the one with the blond hair sitting next to RDA. Forever in John's dept for taking the photo.

RDA was really nervous but very sweet.

I dont think you can compare RDA with Will Smith or Angelina really. One of them isnt followed about by paparazzi nor photogrpahed in Hello or Heat magazine ever or has a private life that everone knows about or is instantly recognised the world-over by even non-fans.

Not at all. There's always somone lurking around on the forums somwwhere esp during the time you posted. Edited by nicky

there was one convention in the UK that he did attend but then he did charge about 200 pounds with a pre signed photo.

:o 200 POUND? :o 200 POUND? :o i know its RDA but....... 200 pound? :D

gotta be honest, if i had the opportunity to meet him and the cash in my pocket, i know i'd pay it in an instant. maybe that's just me, but given he can pull a £200 fee would imply i'm probably not!

I would pay £200 pound to meet RDA let’s be honest. I’m just saying that that's 8 times more than Patrick Stewart. The MSPG stall had a Will Smiths autograph for £55 and many stalls had RDA's for £40-£60 so I just don’t understand why he would charge that much in person. But I guess it’s not RDA that’s charging that much, more the convention organisers. The only logical reasoning I can think of for that price tag is because of how rare of a guest he is.

Oh and Nicky I was obviously joking when I asked for will smith and Angelina Jolie for LFCC although it would be cool if showmasters events were one day that big, and could you imaging the que. I think conventions themself will have to become more socially acceptable before they can get really big. The word 'convention' doesn't really ooze coolness does it? But that’s a whole different discussion.

Seconded! Hope you are OK, sadfan! Drop me an email when you are able

I have never met RDA but I would seriously seriously LOVE to. And since I'm already a gold pass holder with room booked, I'm all armed & ready to go whatever the deal!:thumbup:

The reason for the high price (And I will admit that it's a high price, as much as I love the guys who organised that event) is because the event was limited to about 200 or so people. When you look at the prices of a convention - guest appearance fees, accommodation, flights, security, venue costs and all the rest - usually you're splitting that between a few thousand people plus dealers stalls and recouping it in autographs / photos. In this case, it was limited number of people, the photo and autograph included and you got this souvenir chalice as well.

I didn't go. Far too expensive for me!

However, I did meet RDA in the states a couple of weeks back. He was nice but incredibly shy. He doesn't quite get the fact that fans travel so far and go out of their way for little old him, you know?

What I'm noticing at the moment though, and I think it will be the same until he really finds his feet with conventions, he won't go ANYWHERE without Amanda Tapping. She's done the con circuit more than a few times and he tends to hide behind her a lot until he settles in and gets going.

So I vote lets have them both at 7.2
