captaincarpet
What would an 80s themed party be without classic 80s hits to dance to? Thought it would be good to get a few suggestions, hopefully the DJ will notice xD Heres a few to get started: The Final Countdown - Europe Vienna - Ultravox Blue Monday - New Order Fade To Grey - Visage

darth.ally
And some more to choose from... I'd *love* to hear Story of the Blues, but I doubt that's going to happen. Quite often 80s nights play all the stuff I *hated* so I don't always enjoy them, even though there was so much cracking music around. Mind you, when I was going out in the 80s I had to pick and choose where I went carefully or I had the same problem! *keeps fingers crossed that a couple of songs off the list get played* Edited April 1, 2010 by Darth Ally
angelkitty
Firstly, I just want to say that both Rob and Ally have FANTASTIC taste in music, I salivate at your choices (especially Master and Servant, all the Soft Cell, and Living on the Ceiling) Here are my fave 80s dancey songs, so even tho I won't be there, you can hear them and think of me! Billy Idol - Dancing with Myself Billy Idol - Hot in the City Billy Idol - Rebel Yell Whitesnake - Here I Go Again Whitesnake - Is This Love Adam Ant - Goody Two Shoes (my theme song) Adam and The Ants - Stand and Deliver Soft Cell - Sex Dwarf (all the others have been mentioned) Soft Cell - Torch (except for that) Human League - Sound of the Crowd Joy Division - Love will Tear Us Apart Siouxsie and the Banshees - Fireworks Siouxsie and the Banshees - Dazzle Kim Wild - Kids in America S Express - Theme from S Express The Vapours - Turning Japanese The Normal - Warm Leatherette Madness - One Step Beyond (this bypasses the brain and goes straight to your feet) The Specials - Enjoy Yourself ('Hello I'm Terry and I'm going to enjoy myself first') Queen - Headlong Queen - I want to break free Queen - A kind of magic Queen - One Vision Bomb Da Bass - Beat This The Mission - Tower of Strength Poison - Look what the cat dragged in Poison - Talk Dirty to me Motley Crue - Girls, Girls, Girls Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild Def Lepard - Pour some Sugar on me Def Lepard - Animal Warrant - Cherry Pie Guns N Roses - Welcome to the Jungle Wham - I'm Your Man Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence PIL - Rise Sisters of Mercy - First and Last and Always Steven 'Tin Tin' Duffy - Kiss Me Yazoo - Don't Go The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) Duran Duran - Girls on Film Duran Duran - Planet Earth Grace Jones - Slave to the Rhythm Kraftwerk - The Model Tubeway Army - Are 'Friends' Electric Spandau Ballet - To Cut a Long Story Short Pogues - Irish Rover Toy Dolls - Nellie the Elephant The last two can get a little frenetic and a smidge violent, especially Nellie, as anyone at the 80s night at Whitby will testify! Kosh
It's a shame I'm not coming as I'd have brought my collection of 80's music down for the DJ to use as he wished - & believe me, the collection is VERY extensive.

darth.ally
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence Was actually released in 1990 or it would have been on my list (as would have a bunch of other Cure songs). I remembered another few from my 'dance' list (being good and not including Joy Division or goth stuff like the Neph)! Human League - Being Boiled Human League - Empire State Human Heaven 17 - We Don't Need this Facist Groove Thing I'd suggest the Buzzcocks but they were 70s, as was Into the Valley by the Skids and Teenage Kicks by the Undertones Would be great if Nellie the Elephant was played... I have a piece of weird/useless/icky info about that song - it's just the right speed to ensure your chest compressions are the right rate when you're doing CPR. It's so easy to lose count, in an emergency situation but 2 repeats of the chorus of Nellie keeps you in perfect time, and stops you from panicking too. I don't think the Doctors use it but I know us nurses do. Edited April 1, 2010 by Darth Ally

Moderators etmuse Posted April 1, 2010 Moderators Share Posted April 1, 2010 I was only 5 at the end of the 80s, doesn't mean I can't still love some of the music. (I went to a Bon Jovi concert 2 years ago and was chatting to a couple who went to their first one the same year I was born...)

Never
I know hahah. But it's funnier than *shakes fist* and I was using it before it came more mainstream so it's there until I get sick of it
