this from Julie

Hello, it is with great sadness that I must share with you the passing of Don S. Davis, beloved husband, father, friend and artist, Don had just completed work on a new film and was busy writing a pilot for television when his amazing life came to an end due to a massive heart attack on Sunday, June 29th.

His wife, Ruby Fleming-Davis has asked that you post the following on your websites for his fans:

Dear Fans and Friends of Don S. Davis,

So many of you have been touched by not only the work and art of Don S. Davis, but by the man himself, who always took the time to be with you at the appearances he loved, that it is with a tremendous sense of loss I must share with you that Don passed away from a massive heart attack on Sunday morning, June 29th.

On behalf of his family and wife, Ruby, we thank you for your prayers and condolences. A family memorial where Don's ashes will be scattered in the ocean will take place in a few weeks, and should you wish to, please make a donation to the American Heart Association in Don's memory.

Omg noooo! I can't take this in, shockingly sad. Too early for a vital man of his age ....and one of the warmest loveliest people anyone could ever meet.

My thoughts are with his family...he really was an amazing man.

Yep - my memory of him as well - A real gent. I asked a question - I forget what - which he misinterpreted - but he told us so much about him, his early days in the army and his continuing respect for the armed forces that I was really glad my question hadn't been answered - his response was far more interesting and personal.

Without dissing any of the other actors / characters in the big chair of either of the Stargate series, unlike any of the others, General Hammond was the heart of the onscreen team. He didn't disappoint in real life either.

My only encounters with Don S Davis were at LFCC, 2 years ago. During the signing he was so polite and kind and spoke to me for a couple of minutes. It really makes a difference when a guest is genuinely happy to talk to you about his private life, or ask you about your life. The talk he gave was great too. He was so laid back and easy going about life, and seemed completely at peace with the world. It is a great shock that he has passed on and I still can't believe it's happened, but I take consolation in the fact that he was HAPPY & content in life.

One of the most friendly and interesting guest I've met so far and of course one of the most well known faces on television. I will always remember his long and passionate answer to my question about his work with David Lynch on Twin Peaks. He will be truly missed

My sincere condolances to his family.

I have only just heard about this and my thoughts are with his family and close friends.

I'm in shock and a bit upset at the moment - I never got the opportunity to meet him unfortunately, but I believe he was a lovely guy who was happy to talk and had a fascinating life and career. I always loved him as 'General Hammond' and I'll miss him.

Can't really say any more than has already been said. Was really looking forward to meeting Don for the first time at Chevron 7, but it was not to be. Very, very sad and sorry that this has happened. 65 is no age these days. Feel really down now - I know that's being selfish but I can't help how it affects me. Think I'll go and watch a few choice episodes of SG-1. My own way of saying goodbye. However, these very episodes are the legacy that Don has left us to remember him by. He will be there forever.

My thoughts, of course, are with his wife and family who will be terribly distraught at this time.

Rest in Peace Don, you will be sadly missed by more people than you would have thought.
