sweetj_nomad
People travel from all over the UK to various events for all sorts of different reasons. I'm intrigued to know if there was the right guests would anyone make the trip over the Welsh border? And if possible would you prefer the North or the South? Maybe the North is nearer? Maybe the South has more venues? Would you go anywhere for the right people? We just seem a little thin on events happening. The nearest events from where i reside is around the hour mark in travel by car... Feedback people please
Psychosis
I'm in the midlands so whether I go north, south or west it's more or less the same distance to me. Good guests and I'll go, not so good and I won't. Edited September 11, 2007 by Psychosis

cptalbertwesker
but wales is full of welsh people Not really Mostly everyone I know in Wales in not welsh But then thats what happens in a university. But yeah I say if an event were ever to happen in Wales it should be in the South; much more things going on and not to mention that a lot of north wales is welsh speaking, that and it costs just as much for me to travel up there as it does to say MK. So I'd love an event in South Wales! I'm still routing for Collectormania CIA David you're just a meanie Edited September 11, 2007 by cptalbertwesker

I had a bad experience in Wales once, I'm not in a rush to go back there Were you attacked by a group of close harmony singers brandishing pot noodles? Fuel of Britain, isn't it Just to answer the original question as well, I probably would got to an event if it was somewhere like Cardiff, I live near Reading so its only a couple of hours on the train, plus Cardiff's a pretty nice place as well. Darth_Owl
Cardiff holds good memories for me. I've only visited once properly in May 2005 - and what a glorious weekend that was!!
BurntKona
A Cardiff event certainly gets my support. It's a bit closer than Glasgow

Niallsdad
Where is Wales again?? It's that beautiful bit of country which mercifully remains West of Offa's Dyke. Really can't believe some of the comments made in some of the posts above, particularly the comment about lots of people in North Wales speaking Welsh. Believe it or not, a lot of people have also mastered the English language there as well so it is really not too much of a disadvantage! Wales would be a fantastic place for an event whether it be North or South. Cardiff obviously has the advantage of the better rail links with the South, a fantastic venue in the CIA and can also boast the Dr Who and Torchwood themes. With major film studios under construction a few miles along the M4 in Bridgend, who knows what potential the future holds.

I didn't mean it to come out as though I were saying everyone in North Wales speaks only Welsh, sorry. But from previous experience, getting up to some places in North Wales can be rather hard from the South of it ^__^ (by train that is) though I've gotta say I thought South Wales had some beautiful countryside, second I went up north it was like

surfy_sah
Us Welsh aren't THAT scary i was recently convinced otherwise shurrup you if you're talking 'bout me and can't one of you nice mod types blend the topics? why have more than one on the same thing and it makes the plea for Collectormania: CIA look more impressive tbh, out of Wales in general, Cardiff is the obvious choice as North Wales is too close to Manchester and of course Cardiff has an airport 30mins from the city centre on the bus it is also a mere 2hours from London on the train (approx. 1h30mins from Reading) and about 3.5hours from MK, even less from B'Ham, maybe as little as 2hours aside from such great transport links, of course Cardiff boasts Torchwood and Dr Who and the Millenium Stadium and it's very own castle if people want to do the touristy things, not to mention a mini version of the Xscape Centre which holds the Dr Who Exhibition. CIA is a perfect venue, surrounded by hotels, opposite a cinema and casino and about 5mins walk from the main shopping street and 10-15mins from the train and bus station, which are helpfully next to each other unlike MK there are plenty of bars, pubs and clubs in walking distance not to mention shopping and the Bay (inc mini Xscape) 20-30mins on foot or a 5min bus ride WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT???? surfy sah xx

Tiggsy
Yeah there isn't really any venue in the North that's suitable and Manchester is more accesible. But living up north it's so much easier, cheaper, faster to get to Manchester,London,MK.To get down south is just so much hassle lol
