Midnight
i went to the feb one, and when i went to meet both danny john jules and brent spiner there weren't very many pics to choose from. the only one i could see of brents with his picture was dark, and he signed with a dark pen. i'm not complaining, hell no, i loved meeting them and i am grateful for the op but i was just wondering if there was a chance this time there could me lighter pics just incase ...someone... uses a dark pen (can't think of an example)
Keeper
there might be a problem of the time it was at? i know theres usually a better selection earlier in the day, when ppl haven't got a chance to get through them... alternatively get a light pen yourself, and offer it? just thoughts Edited September 3, 2006 by Keeper
Moderators DavidB Posted September 3, 2006 Moderators Share Posted September 3, 2006 They should have a selection of pens on their desk anyway, so if you actually have a preference and would prefer a silver one etc, if you can't bring one yourself then just ask if it's possible
Midnight
i was there earlier in the day. i think i'm gonna get a signing pen, my friend makes em
liamsgirl
Alternatively, you could always take your own item for them to sign. I try to do that as mush as possible. Eliminates some of the disappointment when there isn't a photo you want.
MSPG Autographs
The best thing to do is that if there is a particular image you want to get signed take one with you it will cost the same to get it signed and you can then pick up the free one from the stand. Then you have a choice of what you would like to get done.
teroknor34
I also try and buy as many pictures as possible for any of the guests that I am going to meet mainly to be sure that I am getting exactly what I want. Also have a selection of my own coloured Sharpies (Black,Red,Blue,Green & Silver) just in case the guest doesn't have an appropiately coloured pen. They are normally fine with this but remember to get your pen back before walking away from the table !! (or sometimes the guest tries to keep your pen as well !!).

Dragon Home
I was selling photos for Brent at GMEX and can confirm that he did have some lovely light photos on the first day. Unfortunately there weren't as many of them as the others and they sold out very quickly. Anne
Raylenth
I've never been afraid to ask the guest to sign in a certain colour pen. It only makes sense when you have a photo/poster of a certain colour. Of course it doesn't necessarily always work - sometimes the guest is too busy chatting with previous fan in queue/attendant/pal to listen to your request. Doesn't happen too oten though. mightymax
I usually have a look on the net movie market are pretty good, do it say a week before the event so if any guests are going to cancel you will know about it (saves wasting money) of course they can cancel at any time. Then have a think about how you would like it signed ie what colour pen etc..... the standard blue and blacks no problem but if you want it to be signed in intalic colour (gold, silver etc...) its best to buy them from a stationary shop (get the fine tip type or slightly thicker) as I find the ones that is used by the guests can be a bit too thick and can spoil the signature. Also remember to wait for it to dry before you put it away!
KURGAN
. Also remember to wait for it to dry before you put it away! To follow on from mightymax's good advise may i recomend getting a tuff box, these are clear hard plastic cases that are hinged in the middle so can open like a folder but have catchs on the other side so it will not fall open , also if you tip it up the wrong way your autos willnot fall out onto the floor, i have seen this happen at some events. the small ones are A4 size and 20mm deep so will fit very nicely in most bags and still hold a good number of pics. i do recomend the A4 extra size which is wide enough to fit a buffy magazine in and also has a pen clip inside and is 40mm deep, one of the advantages to these boxs is that if you just got an auto and its wet you can put it in the top of the box , close the lid and solong as you carry it flat it willnot get smudged which is a danger when your trying to get threw a big crowd. these are only a couple of pounds each and avalable in most stationers, staples i know for sure . for the record i do not work for any stationary company, im just a fan who doesnot want to see more people crying over damaged or ruined photos. maduncledai
I agree with every thing above ! Buy yourself a Silver Sharpie ! Go round the Dealers stands before I did the same thing for Dwight Schultz a couple of Collectormania's ago as the stand did have any Barclay ones I liked but found a realy nice one within the Dealers. And buy yourself some sort of box it also helps to keep your photo in good condition when standing in the que waiting. Do you know how damaging sweat is to a photo ? GoldenGreen
Always bring your own pens and own photos for truly great results Which pens do you recommend Bohan? Also in Bohans case, you need to bring some water to revive him ! In terms of pens, your standard blue and black sharpie are a must, but for darker photos I have found the best pens to be the uni posca paint pens, they give a good signature, haven't let me down yet, last quite a while and dry quickly. As an example, here is an example on the photo I got Alicia Witt and Kelly Reilly to sign last night at the Theatre. They both signed this with the same orange Uni Posca Paint Pen. I have been using this pen on and off at Premieres / Theatres for almost a year now and it's still holding up well.

Bohan_
Which pens do you recommend Bohan? Well obviously sharpies give the best results but I always avoid the silver ones because quite frankly they are crap and dry up instantly! God knows how many the guests must get through at collectormania! Some of the sharpie paint pens are good, the gold one is lovely. And the large sized thick tip black sharpie is really good, lost mine and not found another yet! As GG mentioned the uni posca pain pens are very good and when used/stored correctly then they offer brilliant results and look lovely. Problems being they take a while to dry but that is not a problem unless you start going hyper with excitement after having your item signed and end up smudging it! Also with the Poscas u have to make sure you keep shaking them before use for best results. The light blue is my personal favourite! Oh and I always use the pink for female celebs (Kate Bekinsale being the latest victim! She had never signed in pink before ) Cheers GG, where do you buy em? Suppose it is all down to where you are located. Check out the London graphics centre which is situated near upper st Martins Lane. Also several sellers on ebay specialise in this area, although u will of course end up paying more on postage. Also in Bohans case, you need to bring some water to revive him ! Indeed, now that was top quality H20!
