jenzo66
I just wanted to say i look at guest announcements on other boards for collectormania or comic con events and notice that so many of them are star wars or star trek, can you please make sure there is strong variety for this con, so there is something for fans of other things and not a con that seems to be dominated by just one

Both franchises have strong fan-bases and are likely to make money, which is essential if the events are to continue.
Marky242
Been to plenty of these events and think there is a fair spread of guests - I might be biased as I collect SW though! Most of the bigger guests tend not to be SW though (unfortunately!!)
Moderators DavidB Posted March 7, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 7, 2010 Considering they are perhaps the two longest lasting and popular cult shows at cons, I don't think it's ever a surprise we get a regular dose of these guests. But as always, there will be a good mix in the end. No one can guarantee something for everyone though..
thepurplehoodedwarrior
I'm a massive star wars fan but not star trek but have to admit these two have a massive following so obviously drum up business for show masters and get the word round. kinda like thier bread and butter guests! Obviously they will get a mixture of people but it's who gets people through the doors. i've attended for star wars but while there got people from anything from T2, Hellboy, Jay & Silent Bob, Red Dwarf and many more! I do see your point when you see people announced and think "why them etc" but they're only thinking the same as you are with star wars/trek! Keep your fingers crossed and see what happens especially in the last few weeks.
BACYLON
Like all people, everyone has their own tastes, I couldn't give too hoots about Twilight or Buffy but I understand when a guest relating to these two franchises is announced as it's important for the future of these events (especially in the current economic climate ) that they get as many punters as possible through the door. SW's and ST are a safe bet, so will probably always have a guest presence. A Big trouble in little china guest has already been announced, this should prove, if was needed that there will be a variety of guests again. Lennybear
I think the replies speak for themselves most people go because of SW and ST.

God L'Eponge
I think the replies speak for themselves most people go because of SW and ST. I would rather say that most people that post on here are going because of SW and ST. Please do not jump into easy conclusions. I'm not posting very often but that doesn't mean i go for those guests, i even have absolutely no interest at all in them (or only if they appear in other TV shows or movies like Scott Bakula and William Shatner) and also wish that there could be a little bit more of variety in the guests... In another topic about Sean Young, nicky says "BR [blade Runner] isn't everything" but i could say the same about "Star Wars" and i would rather have 2 guests like Sean Young that played in movies than 36 obscure stormtroopers that were in the SW series. But it's just my opinion and i'm not moaning or complaining, just stating a fact that not everyone goes for ST or SW like some could believe. MikeDonovan
i would rather have 2 guests like Sean Young that played in movies than 36 obscure stormtroopers that were in the SW series I have to agree. But still, the three major shows this year are all Star Wars themed, so I guess we can accept it this year. Maybe we'll get lucky and Carrie Fisher will come back. I missed the opportunity to get a picture signed of her in the leopard skin print undies from "The Man With One Red Shoe", and I won't be making that mistake again! adriangill
I agree too many Star Wars guests. We need more Trek guests as they are now outnumbered! lol i would love to meet the rancor but i think my top half of my boy would be gone. Something smaller then. Jabba The Hutt. Well his tail anyway, also known as Mike Edmonds.

adriangill
Have been trying to find some sort of Trek anniversary as a reason for more guests. All I can find is - 5 years since Enterprise finished. I know some (not me) would consider that cause for celebration . I would like to see some guests from Enterprise though.
Marky242
Surely you can't be much of a fan if you're celebrating when something finished??? I kid! I kid!
dazzlerjames
But Jason has said all along that these guests are extras to the regular guests so it would make no difference to the "big name" guests or any other guest for that matter. I'd imagine a dozen stormtroopers would cost alot less to book and therefore not have a major impact on show budget but would get alot of interest as Star Wars fans tend to be completists. thepurplehoodedwarrior
Although i'm glad there's loads of star wars guests and that they are on top of whatever they already planned and won't affect the actual line up. I do wonder though all these guests will take up table space so it will really affect it some how maybe just less merchandising etc?
