Meet-up Point/Group

That's fine, though really we need more people to confirm if they can make these or not for it to work.

It's great to have people intrested in meeting, but not so much if noone actully goes to any suggested meets.

I will post up a link to a meet up group soon and put more suggestions on from there rather than clog up this thread. Hopefully at the very least we can hopefully get a group of us hanging out for CollectorMania.

Just seen this post and had to have a wee giggle reading from start to finish. On, off, on, off :)

Great idea though. These things in general go well with food and drink, makes it less awkward when you can excuse yourself to toilet/bar/food every so often and take stock :) I don't know a single soul but as long as just a laugh and getting to know people I'd love to join in.

@vodka, yeah these things tend to flux about a lot, once a few meetups have actully happend the more people will be comfortable within the group.

This group idea is mainly to give everyone on the forums a chance to actully get to know one another better, fun isn't allowed! :P

Guys, can you please tone it down a little? I had to remove one post because it was implying things that are really not appropriate for this forum. I do apologize if it was meant jokey and I didn't get the joke. But when the mods are getting reports we have to investigate. Thank you very much for understanding.

People were offended? Well that's fair enough. The UK is a nanny state, you live in Germany Sindel so you wont really understand just how under the thumb the UK people are. But I don't live my life that way and I like to be free and think freely and act freely, which I'll do at any meetups and I'll do it in August at Collectormania. This thread is for Scottish people to meet up. Everyone here either lives in Glasgow or lives nearby so when I reply in this thread that's the only people I have in mind and am thinking about but I realise I should pay more attention to the English and the Welsh and the Northern Irish that visit the forum and understand that they might be offended by anything I joked about which most adults do I think. There's talk in here about pubs and dinners, no one under 18 years old would be going anyway to any meetup. But we're all brought up differently and I understand that and I apologise for anyone I offended.

It was users frequenting the Glasgow event who complained. My request had nothing to do with UK users being "under the thumb." I am not going to give more details than that and I am only posting this to prevent more issues. I do not want this to become a "Scotland versus the world" issue. Besides that fact, we are treating all complains equally here. We are removing a certain level of posts and that is valid for all forums. The forum rules are valid for all event areas.

I did not get the removed post as a joke either. If you could try to make that more clear next time - even a smiley or something would help - maybe that would prevent further misunderstandings.

The one and only intention of this topic is bringing together likeminded people of all ages.

Anyone is free to join the group and meetup in a place and time that isn't restricting the freedom of any age group.

I would kindly ask that everyone bear in mind this is a family friendly forum and to keep "adult only" chat to a limit thanks.

Alright Brian, I did apologise before for my joking around. Socialising with people, is one of the things I enjoy about Collectormania Glasgow and everyone I've met lives in Glasgow and still talk to them all and see them all regularly. Hopefully a lot of younger people on here do take it up and join your meetup, I'm sure they will enjoy it.

I think pub/cinema is a good Idea, get the drinks and conversation flowing, but we could meet in a family pub that also serves soft drinks... Just need to find out when is good for everyone. Maybe it's best to wait til after Easter now so everyone's around?

Being relatively new to Glasgow, I don't really know where the decent pubs are except Sloans which I love. I'd suggest somewhere central would be best and easiest for everyone to get to?

Ann, think you are right. Id prefer drinks to be seperate night from Cinema personally. Get to know people first before trying the old arm round the shoulder routine ;) The 'blander' pubs in town where we could fit a decent amount of people are ones like Auctioneers, Sloans, Any Wetherspoons of which there are 86 etc. My choice would be Horseshoe (being there most days) as its friendly etc. We can have a think as it depends what day of the week so we can all get a good sized area together.

Ann, meant to say, I fired over a twitter request but seen it was locked so that was me :) (PS Welcome to Glasgow!)

Personally i have no problems going to a cinema on the same day as a pub, self restraint i'm sure souldn't be too diffcult.

I'd suggest The Arrol pub as it's right in the central station so it's easy enougth to get to without having to find your way around Glasgow and no problems getting transport back.

Hey! So there's this awesome movie that's coming out 5th April on a short release, and Glasgow Cineworld Renfrew St is one of the few cinemas getting it. Was wondering if anyone would like to ake a meet up to go and see it, it's called Papadopoulos and Sons and you can check out a trailer

. Ticket info here.

Bonus, it stars Stephen Dillaine from Game of Thrones in the lead role!

Got a lot planned for May 4th, will be going to A1 in Braehead to see how many comics i can swag as part of Free Comic Book Day, then heading into Glasgow centre for more of the same at Forbidden, then heading down to Hamleys for May the 4th Star Wars celebrations then finally going to take part in the 2.8 Hours Later zombie chase game and after party.

Hopefully i'll see you there for anyone else going to one or more of these events.
