discodiva Posted November 3, 2011 Share Posted November 3, 2011 (edited) Well my friend is currently disabled and unable to walk very far and it's no go for her.....she's been dumped over at the Ibis......been offered free taxi service and she is damn well being given a key to my room so she can rest during the day!!!... I am spitting blood at this incompetence......my husband has already said it's the last Con he'll attend!...which in turn screws up my chances of another!..... My son can't come - two gold tickets for nothing Little interest in the guests - forget main cast members, there was not one recurring character (not guest star) in all of SG1, SGA or SGU available? Transferred to another hotel without my knowledge - being a 'mature' woman on my own, i do not want to be walking back and forth in the dark. Yes, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing and being with friends. Yes, I think ME are fantastic, put on great events and are blameless when it comes to cancellations. They really should have left her in the hotel... Atm I think everything that is going on with this con is just ridicilous, incompetence is just not covering for me atm... Maybe for those ladies who are on their own and wary of walking home, some of the gentlemen might be kind enough to escort them back to the Ibis?....I'll be happy do it because trust me, woman or not, I'm scary enough in the light, let alone in the dark!!!... Also I asked about the price and we still have to pay the full price of the Park Inn hotel and we only get some drank vouchers. I told them that the Ibis is cheaper and then they just told me that is because they don't do breakfast. And that is why they keep the price to what it is. Well I have a visual impairment and have trouble walking or even standing for periods as I managed to break my ankle twice and they still moved me and I had a single room. I am very confused now as when I was phoned I was told I could get breakfast at the ibis as I thought they did not do it So who should I pay the ibis or the park inn if they are going to give us our breakfast, saying that don’t you need a room number to get in for breakfast? Im even happy to do a few trips to make sure people are safe in the Ibis :) From what I can hear here, the Park Inn is telling different stories to everyone, what is so not proffesional at all. and yeah I think we should all make the best of it since we can't really change anything. I feel uncomfortable walking back and forth between the hotels especially in the dark. the convention's been held in the hotel so why didn't we get the priority? I am absolutely furious. I am now considering whether to do anymore conventions. I love coming so much but this has put a bad memory in my head which makes me wary to go again. eccheetham Posted November 3, 2011 Share Posted November 3, 2011 after seeing this i gave them a ring. im still on the list of those that have a roon in the part kinn. goot thing realy as i have epilepsy so cant go to a different hotel- not even one across the rode encase i have a fit. they said they had rung me urlier today though and noone was at home. maby if someone had been i might have been persuaded to move. anyway. person i spoke to said if i had epilepsy and booked right back when reservations were first taken they would try to make sure i wasnt moved without warning nad have put it down on my booking. Deeds xx I didnt think the ibis had anything bigger than a double? So anyone whos expecting a triple or bigger will be in for a shock if moved! Also, I didnt think the ibis was that big either! So when you got the 'normal' guests, people going to the con who booked the ibis anyway (such as myself), and now the ones bumped over from the park inn, hope theres enough rooms for everyone, or anyone arriving later on could find themselves in another hotel all over again! Apparently they tried to phone us earlier today but got no answer ( we do have to work to pay for these events) and never bothered retrying. Is was only the fact that I was checking for the schedual that I found out about this '' COMPUTER GLITCH ''. I have no idea if I've been moved, I didn't say I had a disability at time of booking because I didn't think it was needed but there's no way I'd be able to manage a 7 minute walk if they have moved me. Just hope I'll be able to get to sleep now and try not too worry too much otherwise my fatigue will be even worse, there's not much I can do until morning. Last time I booked there I arrived and they had lost all record of my booking, and of course I had no proof of booking as they don't bother to email you confirmation when booking over the phone. Luckily they had 1 or 2 rooms left but I was put in a single instead of the double I booked.
