Guest Experiences From The Weekend
discodiva replied to JokerJosh's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2019
Went on Friday only just to catch up with one guest....the absolutely and always wonderful Michael Shanks...generous with his time, giving out the best hugs in his photo ops and always great for a chat. Lovely selfies at the table too. Never miss a chance to spend time with him when he's over here -
He also looked amazing for his age too....I was stunned to the the 6 million dollar man looking a million dollars!

RIP Adam...you were MY Batman...when DVD's, VHS didn't exist there was nothing like the excitement of waiting for that week's episode....to me, a young Brit it was sooo exciting to see a world I never thought existed...America and Gotham City seemed so shiny...and Batman was my hero..... Gutted

I know..same as my dear old dad...every. single. time. through. customs....got pulled over for looking dead "dodgy"...either that or he was asked "you Old Bill?"
-
hmmmm.....make up your own mind...I'm the one on the left btw...

Well my bag was checked every single time we re-entered the NEC area.....all 4 of us had handbags, rucksacks and the NEC staff checked it every time...we also had two handstamps and those were checked by CMania volunteers.. The sniffer dog was bloody gorgeous ....

Thank you...went yesterday and how nice it was to have space, air to breathe, a feeling of safety but above all relaxed fun. Wonderful to have chairs to sit at by the food court and room to browse between stalls. The actors and guests were all wonderful, the Photo Ops run efficiently and with an element of fun. I went mainly for Michael Shanks (of course ) who NEVER disappoints and had probably one of the best con experiences for a good few years. Ben was lovely too...everyone was lovely and having the extra fun of a total Con Virgin with us and seeing her face explode with happiness at the auto table and photo op experience with Mr S was a wonder to watch. Please keep the NEC as a venue and continue with this wonderful success of Collectormania here...I would MOST DEFINITELY do it again and again... And I call this the "Happiest Photo Op In The World"...who's grinning more?

Sadly I won't be coming to this one... Events elsewhere next year have made me focus all my time, money and travel plans on going somewhere else & meeting some other people ...

This pic sums him up for me... Happy to hold a "mini-me O'Neill" (and Jackson) with a beaming smile and telling everyone in the room how adorable they were

I only met three....but they were all wonderful.. Richard Dean Anderson, who I've met 3 or 4 times before, always takes care when signing, chats and is awesome in photo shoots, has a great sense of humour and is all-round lovely man... William Forsythe was amazing...took time to come round the table and pose with me for a photo and for me it was just wonderful to hear him talk about filming with De Niro and James Woods for "Once Upon A Time In America" which is my all-time favourite gangster movie....what an honour to meet him... And Jason David Frank - took time with ALL his guests, signed the lovely little lad in front of me's lunch box, brought his own daughter with him and took selfies with everyone so he could do a #SelfiebyJDF on Twitter.....signed a pic of him as Tommy for my son, who although now 27, dragged me along to watch the original Power Rangers Movie when he was like 8 or 9 years old...I do hope he appreciates the effort I made for him,...

Share those surreal moments you just couldn't make up

Having the legend that is Richard Dean Anderson holding an adorable "Mini-Me O'Neill" made for me and shouting loudly to all in the photo op room how adorable he thought it (and it's partner) was -
It went up to like 230 in the end. Lots of people had only come to see him, You moan about golds getting in first and yet your quite happy to walk off and give your VQ ticket to someone else??. I don't see how moaning about gold and giving my vq ticket to someone else ate even related. I didn't have much of a choice "about walking off", I stayed in the queuing area for as long as I could then I had the hayley atwell talk at 5:15-6 which I had paid for. I didn't see much point in trying to come back after the talk as it was already 6 oclock. So I thought if I wasnt going to get to use my lowish vq ticket then at least the lady who had 300 and something, who had been waiting all day just to see him and only wanted to see him, could make use of it. I think that was a wonderfully magnanimous gesture of you and I applaud your kindness..... I am coming up to ONLY see RDA too and have already resigned myself to the fact that I will probably get NOWHERE NEAR him for an autograph, given the chaos and speed I've been hearing about over the weekend...yes it annoys me as this is my one time this year to meet him, however I did buy a Photo Shoot which I hope will be going ahead at 3.20 today....providing I get in to the venue that is ... So your gesture to that lady is appreciated by me as I know what it feels like to be at a Con where I want to see only one person.....thankfully too I have a few good friends there today who I will hang with and enjoy myself without worrying about meeting any stars ...they are "my stars"...

Queueing outside right now...

Hopefully it'll be less packed tomorrow. I decided to go just Sunday this year because Saturday was really bad for me. Me too... I was actually physically LIFTED off the floor and carried by the crowds last year, almost suffocating before I reached the exit....I vowed NEVER to attend on Saturday again....it's not just last year, 2013 was bad too, as was 2012 ....it's got TOO big to control much of it now.... Please, for the fans, cut down on numbers and profit, and let some of the fun back in.... BTW..I'm sitting at home in the sun, with a glass of wine & some lovely cheese, bread and olives...gearing myself up for whatever tomorrow brings, because I still hope to see RDA on the Sunday...fool that I am... Saturday last year was so horrific, I vowed never again. I wasn't even meant to go that day, as I knew it would be bad and knew I couldn't handle it by choice - then Summer Glau cancelled Friday. Wine, bread, garden sunshine... all sound good. Put on a MacGyver or Stargate DVD and enjoy! He is an absolute sweetheart, smiling and happy to see everyone in the photo shoots. I hope you get your meetage too - I missed out on an autograph, but ho hum! I have a photo op bought and I'll go through hell and high water, and anyone else who tries to stop me, for that.. Autograph I've given up on already....will save my money for other cons (which I'm not allowed to mention) and Michael Shanks - my other Stargate Man -

Then they should be compensating those who are effectively locked out after payment .....
