Hmmm. To photoshoot or not to photoshoot?

Rare guest and will want to meet but not exactly my favourite character on Voyager. Decisons, decisions.

Fixed for you :gorgeous:

LOL! I dunno. I'm still very selective with my photoshoots. Will definitely want to meet her to add to my Trek collection but currently not feeling too bothered about a photoshoot. See who else gets added and how the money is going.

I HAVE to photoshoot now, as I have the meerkat ordered for the cancelled event, and a Neelix one too......

Whats the chance of actualy getting to meet her and get autographs without going earlybird ?
Possibly one of the more difficult ones to predict. Jennifer is a rare guest and I suspect will be fairly busy. She is taking part in a photo shoot session and a talk (day currently unknown) which will lessen the signing time by an hour or so (assuming the talk is 45 minutes). On the flip side I would be surprised if she is a slow signer like Christopher Lloyd.

Personally I prefer to go as early as possible, purely because it lessens the chance of missing out. I always go Early Bird and have never missed a guest yet. There have been a few occasions where I think that if I had gone for the 11am entry then I would have missed out on meeting a few guests.

If you are attending both days then I suggest Standard on the first day, and if you miss out then switch to Early Bird on the second day.

YES!!!!!!!!!!! MY FAVE FROM VOYAGER, always wantedv to meet her and thank her for her great performances, just a shame that Kes never gets her just due as a character especially when she actually saved the crew more than once (unlike the overrated and overexposed Doctor that got them into danger on more than one occasion and never got punished for it)

She was incredible. Cold Fire and Before and After are my faves!!!!!

There's just so many great Kes episodes, even if Jennifer was only in for a few minutes in a few, she always made the most of her few minutes. As Ethan Phillips said in the voyager time capsule Kes on the dvds "when she was acting you could smell the ozone". I was annoyed that in the last episode there was no mention or cameo for Kes, the only thing was a throaway line from Janeway about "let's remember all the people that can't be with us today" and there was only a little note at the end of the dvd timecapsules of Jennifer's name on the "Thanks To" List. The character had so much potential and was given the shaft. Before and after had some intriguing parts but perhaps wouldve been better as a two hour ep or two parter as there was a lot going on. I enjoy "Elogium" and "Warlord". The bit i like in "Fury" was the bit at the end with Kes and Neelix, it's not what was said it's what wasn't said, and then the moment was gone. I agree that "the gift" and "scorpion" were horribly rushed and contrived just to get Kes out.

It was a combo of Rick Berman never liking the character (glorified bean counter and ratings chaser, and what he actually created is open to interpretation, Paramount won't even let him on the lot now) and Brannon Braga's "excess" and chaotic writing eg "less isn't more, more is more". How impartial could he be when he was sleeping with Jeri Ryan? Not knocking Jeri because she is great and ran with an opportunity that was given to her as anyone else would. I think Braga put her in a bit of a bad position though. I would've loved to have sen a clash between Kes and Seven as they are opposite ends of the spectrum or have Kes as a recurring villian for a while that gets redeemed later. Sadly we can only speculate.

I am a huge fan of Kes. That angered me that her name wasn't even mentioned in the finale. So much emphasis on the family being incomplete and not even saying her name. Fury was lazy script writing but was just so happy to have her back. She so should have been written into Scattered too

Totally agree with you on that. A lotta time was allocated to other characters that didn't deserve it. I think it was a Rick Berman thing, he wanted high ratings and once he found what he thought was a guaranteed formula in his mind IE let's build it around Janeway, Seven and (mr annoying once you've had one story about my subroutines taking on a life of my own you've seen 'em all) the doctor he was locked into that template Brannon Braga had some great concepts but I don't think anyone ever had the sense to edit his ideas into a coherent format sometimes.. I would've explaine the fury story away as the Kes that boarde voyager as a clone created by Suspiria, with Kes coming back as a recurring character using her powers to come in and out again. That way at least she could've been a recurring character rather than being given the shaft totally. Really Harry Kim should have gone.

All sounds about right. But rewatching at the moment and the focus isn't take away from other characters as much as I remember. Tom and B'elanna especially have plenty of episodes and screen time, great characters. Chakotay gets side lined but was so tedious to me, compared to Riker he's an awful character. And he finally gets an episode and it's horrid, The Fight. I keep sporting opportunities to bring Kes back yet they didn't. Two already with flashbacks to when she was on board.

  • 3 weeks later...

Met Jennifer today. I feel sorry for her as she seemed like a deer in the headlights but it's because she's a very shy person. Having said that though, she was genuinely pleased when I told her that she was phenomenal on Voyager and I said "Take care of yourself" to her, to which she did seem genuinely pleased. It doesn't detract from my opinion of her as a brilliant actess because without Jen there would be no Kes. It's a shame it was a combo of my mind going totally blank and feeling that I didn't want to crowd her that seemed to cut things a little short. She's still great, though.

Agreed. I notice many people complain if the guests are very quiet and don't say a lot, but I think that is unfair. Imagine how you'd feel up against such a big crowd if you are a naturally shy and timid person. I know I am, and I'd be completely overwhelmed by the experience to speechlessness. I'm grateful that she agreed to start attending conventions and I think it brave of someone who is shy.

Im glad i just read on here about her being really shy because i was starting to think there was something wrong with her. Got her autograph on Saturday and she didnt really look at me or say hi or anything. Got her photoshoot today and again she seemed very odd. But if she really is that shy then fair play to her for being brave enough to come!
