Queen_Sindel
There is a thing called International Reply Coupon that some people use - I personally hate them. Not sure how it's in the UK, but here smaller post offices don't even sell them anymore. If you have a credit card, you can buy stamps online at the website of the US Postal Service. Or check Ebay for uncancelled stamps.
Moderators DavidB Posted September 8, 2007 Moderators Share Posted September 8, 2007 Or you can just put some $$$ in, then they can pay for the return postage with it.
jameslamont
To be fair I have sent out quite a few letters out to the USA and to Australia and recieved replies when I didn't send anything with the letter. I have had a few from Australia which have been especially good since I realise it would cost them a bit to send it back. I think it just makes it more likely that you may get a reply, but I have had some non replies in England and I do think if I had sent a SAE it would have helped to get a reply. Banished_From_Rohan
To be honest it is a bit of a lottery. Apart from never being 100% sure that what you get is legitimate there are other variables to be taken into account, not least of which is Royal Mail itself. I got hold of some US stamps in a trade for UK stamps ages ago so I use those, and have used IRCs in the past for other countries. On that front, can anyone from mainland Europe tell me whether the postage from Euro-using countries is standardised, or does each country charge it's own amount, and if the former can you use stamps say from France as return postage from Germany? Never send anything TTM that you'd hate to lose, even to the most reliable of celebs. Like David I stick to photos. And don't expect your item)s) back signed within a week. The longest I've waited for something is nearly 2 years!

Nope, not standardised I'm afraid. Euro stamps are only valid in the issuing country.

Amber15
If I'm writing to the US from the UK, I go to the post office and ask for 2 international reply coupons and I put both in, to ensure it's the right amount. But I have in the past, wrote to the US and not even included a return envelope and I still got something back, though I think that was more luck than anything else, lol. x

Moderators DavidB Posted September 13, 2007 Moderators Share Posted September 13, 2007 A lot of successes are through agent addresses. They're easily found if you Google, we can't really post loads of websites on here.

indio
im surprised that nobody has mentioned *edited*. Please don't advertise sites. It's fine to discuss successes and helpful information like how to write off etc, but we don't allow addresses or similar on here. Thank you. DavidB, Can I just ask why we can not post links to Fanmail sites!! It is not like we are posting links to other events that are non Showmasters. I always thought this was ment to be a very open forum where we are free to discuss such topics are Fanmail and how and where to send of it too. At no point in the terms of use can I see in it saying we cant: Please remember, these forums have been set up to discuss the Showmasters events. Unrelated posts may be edited or moved to a more relevent section such as General Chat or one of the many specialist sections (check them out in the General Chat category). Please also be aware that our forum members come from a wide age group so we would appreciate it if bad language and sexual references are kept to a minimum. Unfortunately we can not allow advertising for other events or businesses (blatant or otherwise!). This includes fan sites with links to other events or businesses, unless you have prior permission from Showmasters. Posts containing links or references to other events will be edited or deleted, and the same goes for signatures. If you are unsure you can contact one of the moderators or Showmasters themselves. It says we can not link to other events, or fansites or businesses. I would not class actors contacts as any of these as a lot of sites are Free which does not make them a Money so they are not a business as a business needs to make money. Personnely as show masters are a signing company at heart I would not see that they would see it as a bad thing if we swapped a few contacts of actors that they would more then likly never be able to get to a event. Example I contacted Kiefer Sutherland via mail and got a very nice letter back with a deducated autograph. And the odds of Showmasters being able to get a guest that BIG is not likly. He also provided me with contact details of is father and also got a signed photo from him. I did not see this as a bad thing on this forum. If needed make a new section for fan mail and let us talk about it in there away from GENERAL chat. Also I find it odd that showmasters have not said no we cant instead just DavidB the "Forum God". Can we please get a reply from showmasters directly.
Queen_Sindel
While his member title is "forum god", David is a moderator on this forum. So it's well within his responsibilities to answer that. This is why SM have appointed moderators: they can't be everywhere at the same time. There's been endless discussion about fake autographs TTM, and I really hate to start this here, too... but as you say, it is not very likely that SM will ever get Kiefer Sutherland to an event. He's a very popular star, and in terms of TV shows certainly A list. So what makes you think that Kiefer signs real autographs through the mail? If you check the usual collectors sites you will see that he's been suspected of using a secretary for years. His TTM autographs look exactly the same like some other stars'. Moderators DavidB Posted September 14, 2007 Moderators Share Posted September 14, 2007 1. Indio suggested a pay site - therefore, it's a business really. 2. The rules do need to be updated, but I'm following what we always have. 3. I moderate this section along with some others, so please try and accept what I say rather than just brushing it aside with a "Forum God" comment or something. Thank you. Also, a quick example of why I personally believe it shouldn't be allowed on here - you get a guest announced, and then someone comes along and says "well that's great, but you can write off here for FREE!" .. why should Showmasters allow that? You can't really differentiate between who they will and won't get in the future, you know? So the only sensible way is to standardise it and just not allow it. If they feel like changing it and allowing it then that's fine, but I'm just going by what we always have.

I have been a member of this for a long time and I have not seen Showmaster reacting badly from topics like this. YOu are simply Micro Managing I would also say that the terms of use in terms of linking business is in relation to other events as a business. So if I put a link on this site to Tescos you would in tern have to remove it as it is a link to a business. Obviously the rules are always open to interpretation, but in the end it does come down to Showmasters and the moderators to decide, not members really. And I've been a member/moderator for a long time too, and there has never been regular discussion of TTM collecting on here. The majority has either been removed, or people have been directed to search for themselves and find more appropriate places to discuss it. There are plenty of dedicated forums and websites for that, and people are capable of finding those. As for Showmasters not reacting badly - that's what we're here for, to do most of the work so they don't have to. They have far more important things to be doing Edited September 14, 2007 by DavidB

Just something to think about. (Please do not take this out of context in its self, I am just trying to say if you repesent there are things you have to think about when replying with out getting them commecting on it.)
