CosmicAvatar
So many cons now for SPN Ahhhh, but ME run cons quite differently to other organizers and the guests said both there and afterwards that they loved the more chilled-out nature of this con just gone, as well as the chance to get more up close and personal with the attendees. ...would have probably booked for this but not into multi programme events where you get one or two from your show and already committed to a SPN con and VD con just after this, oh well have a good time I know where you're coming from, as I would rather have had another 100% SPN con myself. But 1) it's quality, not quantity, that counts: we may have had "only" four guests at Roadhouse, but they were absolutely brilliant. 2) the more people support the con, the more guests we'll get, and if you're also a VD fan, you'd be two-thirds there. Of course, if it's a case of channelling your resources into the other cons you have booked, fair enough, but if not, it might be worth giving this one a chance! Moderators DavidB Posted September 8, 2010 Moderators Share Posted September 8, 2010 And of course, if it comes down to having this or nothing Supernatural related at all, I'm sure this is the better option
timelord81r
I think its a good move to mix a couple of shows like this, especially if there show specific cons didnt sell well or where canceled, should mean more interest and hopefully more guests now some are being mixed. I disagree. The point of a convention to me is to meet guests from the same show because more often or not if they know each other well then you get better talks etc. Chad and Samantha have worked together and have been to many cons together and it shows as they were brilliant. If this event had been just Supernatural, I would have booked straight away. Will have to think about it.

If this event had been just Supernatural, I would have booked straight away. Will have to think about it. I agree with both sides of the argument. On the one hand, by appealing to three similar and potentially overlapping fanbases by combining three shows with a supernatural (heh) bent, there's a chance that more tickets will be sold as a larger demographic is being targeted. On the other hand, you have Abrams, Inc. *sob*, where three excellent shows (Lost, Alias and Fringe) were showcased, yet hardly sold any tickets because people only wanted one show, or were waiting for a guest for their preferred show. And so it was cancelled. On the positive side, a big reason for this was - I think - due to just one guest being announced for the whole period (good though he was), with most people waiting to see what other guests would be announced rather than buy tickets for a con based on a single guest, so with luck that can be avoided this time. Finally, yes, the interaction between Chad and Samantha was excellent, and spoke of long familiarity. Although to be fair, Mark (for example) fitted in just fine, despite having far less involvement in the show than the others. And there were plenty of things the guests didn't know about each other, and they seemed to find each others' anecdotes just as fascinating as we did so, with luck, adding guests from different shows could add similar spice to the mix. For me, a mixed SPN con is better than no SPN con at all, as I'd rather not go with certain other organizers due to the stories I've heard about them (unless I get really, really desperate). Which may be cutting my nose off to spite my face , but I know I'll get a good experience here, whatever happens. I'll stop rambling now.

Will have to think about it. well yer show specific cons id prefer , for exampklwe if its a doctor who one for example for it to be all doctor who but alot of these shows have been canceled or had low attendence this year from what I gather? so mixing them might help them, will see, if it means more guests then thats good, but yer i can understand if 2 of the 3 shows dont interest you it might mean only 1 guest u want to see and for the prices thats alot, but i think its a good move to keep some of the shows represented in show specific cons. i guess it depends on which shows are merged. and if it means more guests or the same. time will tell, i think for the smaller represented shows its a good thing as being human got canceled which was a massive shame, dwarf, harry potter also, others low attendence, so its an understandable move to merge in these hard financial times especially if gettting the leads prooves hard. other scifi merged cons for other organisers do very well. time will tell. cookie13
Hopefully the con will do well and everyone will have a good time, cant kid myself that because there were so few attendees at roadhouse was the reason for it being chilled and more enjoyable as you get more time so of course people and guests will prefer the intimacy of that. Hey enjoy the con, hope you have a blast!!

Avengers7
My problem is I really want to go - love Supernatural and Being Human - have never seen Vampire Diaries. I think I'll have to play the waiting game and see what guests are announced - hopefully there will be more Supernatural guests than anything else!! breakbeat
Roughly how many guests would you aim to get for a multi show con like this (providing that ticket sales went well?)
