"Hi there, I'm working on a feature about collectors for The Herald Magazine and wondered if there was anyone you could recommend I speak to ahead of Collectormania at Braehead Arena, Glasgow, on August 21? Ideally I am looking to speak to individuals who buck the stereotypical image of a collector is like and show how hip and trendy it can be. My deadline for finding people is Wednesday this week (Aug 4)." If you think you fit the bill and want your collection to be featured in the magazine, or you know someone else who does, please contact Susan at Susan.Swarbrick@theherald.co.uk You don't need to be attending Collectormania, as long as you live in the central belt area. steevofromglasgow Posted August 5, 2010 Share Posted August 5, 2010 I wouldn't call us trendy, but we contacted the address and it looks like they're going to feature our son Ewan in an article next week. We answered all their questions and got some plugs in for Showmasters and Collectormania Glasgow, so we don't know if they will include it or not. It's a large item and they've used a massive photograph of Ewan - unfortunately it's mirrored when I scanned it and I don't want to change it now because friends are posting comments about it on Facebook. It's not geeky and I think it casts our hobby in a good light. The article also includes Callum Stewart from West Lothian who collects film items (probably found through collectormania as well) and the end of the article mentions Collectormania Glasgow next weekend. Hi The article was published in yesterdays Herald and they took the photographs earlier this week. I think it does cast our hobby in a great light. Near the start of the featue, it mentions that thousands will be descending on Collectormania Glasgow next weekend and reminds everyone at the end again, so it's also a great plug for the event. Thanks for posting! Your son looks really happy on those photos. Hi QS Thanks - he loved the photos being taken - in the large photo, he lay on the floor and we covered him in autographs. He couldn't stop laughing as it was so crazy to have him surrounded like that. In the other photo, I was making him laugh for the photographer in my parents garden.
