Showmasters Admin showmasters Posted November 14, 2014 Showmasters Admin Share Posted November 14, 2014 Hi everyone I just wanted to come on here and shear with you some thoughts on this event and what we have planned . we really felt that there was a big lack in events in this part of the country and we needed to bring a little Comic Con magic to all the fans down there and we found the best place to put on a really great event. The thing is the venue the "BIC" is a big place and we have a lot more planed for this show and feel in time it could be one of our biggest events we run maybe the 3rd biggest event in the UK . We have lots planed for this con and intend to have a great guest list and also have a lot for cosplayers and fans of manga, anime, comics as well as film and TV , we are also going to have a gaming zone also so it will be a lot of fun and there will be lots to do and see and of course buy over the weekend. As its a much bigger place we are able to put on some new things also so watch this space its going to be a great weekend. http://www.bournemouthfilmandcomiccon.com I just wanted to bring you all up to date and shear our thoughts on what we have planed. we are so looking forward to seeing you all at this event. See you in August Jason

cropsy2008
"lack of events in this part of the country" you should try being in the north west.
Jabba90
Sounds great, I would love to attend more shows but can't justify the distance, cost of travel, and entrance price if the guest line up doesn't appeal to me. It's good to have a show so close to home for me, and I think I underestimated showmasters plans for this event! Looking forward to updates and announcements! TerraHawk
we really felt that there was a big lack in events in this part of the country and we needed to bring a little Comic Con magic to all the fans down there and we found the best place to put on a really great event. Get enough guests I've not met before and I'll be there - its about the same distance by train for me as it would be for London, but I must admit I am confused. This is our winter CMMK and its only our second winter event since we started running them again. it is 6 years since we left the shopping centre where we could regularly run a winter show. so this is like running a new show from scratch and as last years event the hall was not finished we wanted to take it steady and build it as people get to know that the building is good and very useful and warm. this will take us a few years to get the winter show to the point where the summer CMMK is so they are not really the same shows , so for now it will be a show with a few less guests. Testing the waters - building an event up slowly, all makes perfect business sense. Seen in Cardiff, Belfast and elsewhere. So why in this case is it a perfect time to jump in at the deep end? Resurrecting an old event is like running a new show from scratch, but you are saying running a new show from scratch can be huge??
Moderators DavidB Posted November 14, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 14, 2014 Jason already said it's the size of the venue itself that will allow the event to be 'big' so more space allows for the different zones etc much like LFCC, but a show like MK doesn't really have that.
Holyfrell
Finally! A convention closer to home that I can actually afford to go to!! Excited!
CosmicAvatar
Hmmmm. Bournemouth is about the same distance from my place as Milton Keynes driving-wise (and without the M25! Although the M27 is an unknown quantity), so has definite potential for me - hoping next year's won't be too big as 2015 is going to be a VERY expensive year for me, but for future, I look forward to seeing what's on offer. Unfortunately, it will require hotel costs, but it looks like I can get a hotel within walking distance of the event, so that will save on parking, at least. Hope the aircon is good, given that it's going to be in August! Otherwise, looks like this could potentially become a staple in my con/event calendar. Hellsbells265
So happy that we have this one, I will definitely be able to afford to go! Really hoping that as it's a great tourist spot being by the sea and all that guests will want to come Billie Piper used to spend her childhood holidays in Poole, maybe she will come for the nostalgia! ComicGuyChris
Hopefully there's a nice lineup of comic talent in store. Some folks aren't too excited at the current TV and Film lineup but we've got 4 months to go still. Bournemouth will be a better con than London. No we're not just saying that because we're from Bournemouth... we know it will be a better experience for people to enjoy. Get your geek to the beach my friend.

Well there seems to be a few Doctor Who guests being announced so maybe they're laying the foundation of Who guests to introduce a certain Mr. Capaldi? Hope so! Also with the event being local to me too makes it so much more special. Edited April 3, 2015 by chugs-in-credible
