indio Posted June 7, 2005 Share Posted June 7, 2005 gene wilder is the worst celebrity ive ever met. he was signing today at waterstones copys of his new book. the worst thing ever he would not shake anybody hand. fans would offer a hand shake after having there book signed and he would refuse, not to mention he refused to sign other items. you could tell he dident want to be there. however any one who does a signing no matter where should not refuse handshakes that is not on. He said it himself, he hates "showbiz" as such, but I guess he's willing to err put up with it for the publicity from a business view .. but he doesn't enjoy it at all. How would you feel if you read horrid things about yourself on a site like this, then SM invited you to come along and attend one of their events? Gene's wife was in the dressing room wearing a surgical mask, and generally creeped Frank out. Apparently he has this thing about germs. If his "people" were telling him not to shake hands, surely he would have obliged the odd one here and there regardless ? But to flatly refuse EVERY handshake ? Yes, there is some sort of medical conditon, don't ask me what it is called, but some sort of compulsive disorder relating to germs and cleanliness, where people won't shake another persons hand. turreima Posted June 8, 2005 Share Posted June 8, 2005 I'm like that to some extent - I used to be worse, which is one of the reasons I saw a therapist in the past couple of years - Now, I work in a cafe, and I'm happy serving people, but I'll ask them to put the money on the counter instead of taking it from them. And I'll ahve to wash my hands after handing all used cups and plates and stuff. I can't stand it! I have a very specific thing about my skin on my hands - i think it's thinner than the skin on the rest of mny body, and goes really dry when other people touch it. But, back on topic - I would love to meet Gene Wilder! So what if he doesn't fit into your perfect-meetable-celecrity-prototype??? Whp gives one, honestly. As long as they mean wel, what more can you ask? He's a human being. And I loved him in the Producers and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! So stop moaning about the man.
