  1. Ace! He was the first guest at any sort of convention that I ever met. I had no idea how to speak to them back then, we just both stood and sat in silence... Hopefully it'll be a little more enlightened this time around!
  2. This fills me with more mirth than you could imagine!
  3. Bugger me sideways, that's as fantastic as a meerkat wearing a sequin jacket ad singing the hits of Dean Martin!!
  4. Man, what I would give to meet Gene Wilder! He scarred many a childhood with his role in Willy Wonka, but I thought it was awesome. Never did me any harm...
  5. I would give both of my legs to meet him - He's an absolute genius! His credits (for collector's interests) include: A Clockwork Orange The Outer Limits Lexx Star Trek Generations He's also done voice work for the Batman, Superman and Captain Planet cartoons, as well as some subbing for various anime series. Get him, Showmasters!
  6. Bloody hell, I don't come online for a few days and then there's this that greets me - What a nice surprise! Excellent guest
  7. Hoorah! It's an excuse for me to go back to Scotland, even if for only a couple of days!
  8. Heheh is it going to turn up this time?
  9. Awesome! I love the Crow have done for years. Can't wait!
  10. I just hope that this doesn't turn out to be a regular occurence for ALL guests at future events... I love being able to have a photo with a guest as I'm getting their autograph - It just completes the whole experience for me. I understand that it's a necessity for Elijah Wood, due to the huge fanbase he has post-LOTR, but... It has to be said: I love Showmasters events because they are so up close and personal with the guests. Generally, it's how an event should be. I hope that it doesn't become the regular way of things with the rest of the guests - if that's the case, i may as wel buy autographs from a dealer and download photos from the net myself! And I have to agree with the general concensus that £20 is just a wee bit too steep. But If people want a photo, then I suppose people will pay it. True, that it'l cover the money NOT made from autographs in that hour, but let's ust hope it's a one off. Though, if people want a glossy professional pshoto rather than a spontaneous one then I guess it'll be worth it for them.
  11. Also, my other thoughts on re-reading the posts on this thread.... Yes, the food around the local vicinity seemed to be a weigh up between some cheap bars, Starbucks, and that Sainsbury's down the road. What I usually do during cons (it's cheaper and more convenient) is to do a kiddy-like thing and take some form of packed lunch. It may seem rather juvenile, but it's the best option for saving money and ensuring that you have exactly what you want! Seating space would be excellent, as not every person coming to the cons are able to stand for 6 hours straight. Myself, I'm used to it with my job. But there were very few 'rest' areas where people can just sit and be, and recover from the madness. Different people want different things to make their experience with the guests memorable for them. Some want a long, in-depth chat about their philosophical beliefs and inner psychological workings. Others just want a photo. Whatever Showmasters do, there are always going to be some disgruntled people (whether it be the fact that they weren't allowed to grope suchandsuch's backside or cut a lock of their hair for their keepsake book, or have more than 3 or 4 autographs to sell on at a later date). I think that the photo option should be down to the individual guests' preferences. The chats obviously have to be restricted due to popularity. It's about maintaining the balance to keep everyone relatively as pleased as possible. Also, it's down to individual members of the public. If they keep in mind the fact that others have come to enjoy the experience of meeting the guests, and conduct themselves in a considerate manner (i.e. how they themselves would like to be treated), then the whole thing could be a lot more pleasant and memorable for everyone. I apologise for the length of this Ãœberspiel! And I applaud the ragged few who have bravely soldiered on to the end of the seemingly infinite paragraphs.
  12. One thing, which I think would apply not only to the next event at G-Mex event, but to all events in the future, is the need for better communication amongst the crew. I know of where I speak: not only do I attend the conventions, but I have also crewed for a fair share of them in the past and I know that the crew are briefed at the beginning of each day. However, simple issues such as queueing procedures, gues protocol, etc etc, should all be fully explained to the crew, old and new, as every event is different from the last. I love crewing, believe me I do love it. I've not had the chance for the past couple of events due to work clashes in my 'real world' job, but I've learned from that (being an assistant manager) that communication amongst the staff ensure a smooth running operation. It's the key to success! That, and plenty of punters .
  13. *squeals loudly, then dies on floor* this has made my year!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. i want to meet alan tudyk! along with the whole crew of firefly mind you... in the meantime, beg for wash!
  15. hooray i'm so pleased about this!!! Firefly boxset is in HMV at the minute for £17.99 for anyone who wants to know!
  16. A legend, no one can argue with that. I don't know what his opinions are on signing events but I would personaly give my entire set of limbs to meet him. Anyone else agree?
  17. I'm hoping toget my Firefly DVD signed - hoping more Firefly guests go now! It'd be great to havr a reunion/Serenity talk with the lot of them. Though they'd have to watch what they said about the upcoming film!
  18. I'm like that to some extent - I used to be worse, which is one of the reasons I saw a therapist in the past couple of years - Now, I work in a cafe, and I'm happy serving people, but I'll ask them to put the money on the counter instead of taking it from them. And I'll ahve to wash my hands after handing all used cups and plates and stuff. I can't stand it! I have a very specific thing about my skin on my hands - i think it's thinner than the skin on the rest of mny body, and goes really dry when other people touch it. But, back on topic - I would love to meet Gene Wilder! So what if he doesn't fit into your perfect-meetable-celecrity-prototype??? Whp gives one, honestly. As long as they mean wel, what more can you ask? He's a human being. And I loved him in the Producers and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory! So stop moaning about the man. I think it would be greatto see someone of that particular caliber at an SM event. Wherther he would accept is entirely up to him
  19. Really? Ah damn, I must ahve blinked and missed it! I'll end up renting it sometime in the future anyway!
  20. Excellent guest! D'you reckon he'll sign my towel if I take it with me?
  21. Aye, he's a lovely bloke! When does seed of chucky come out? Shall have to keep my eye open for that one, I don't really know what to think of a possessed baby doll thing with a scottish man's voice! Reckon they'll make it a Bonny Prince Charlie doll? Thanks Showmasters!
  22. Yay, my computer's letting me post again! *Damns cookies to hell... though not the sugary kind.* Adam Baldwin, the Hero of Canton, the man they do indeed call Jayne!! Rock on!! Now if we could get more Firefly guests then get some sort of talk arranged.... Firefly rocks, and so do Showmasters! And moany people, be optimistic! If you're not particularly pleased with the announcement, then there's no need to rant on about how you are sarcastically glad for other people who may want to meet this particular guest, and to the people moaning so much about Adam changing cons... so what? At least nothing tragic has happened to him or anyone he knows, and he can make it to at least one of them! I'm going out of my way to London to see him, so I'm sure that other epople are willing to travel to see him if they want to meet him that much! xx
  23. It'd be great to have a Serenity promo stall/talk at lfac3, it would make my year if joss and the cast were there!
