Yup you are right the acute is of French origin. I should have actually structured my response better, when I said a Scottish thing I meant the reference to 'thingy, thingymabob, whachamacryit' as its a rare occasion where i've heard it elsewhere. the thingy being referred to was an acute thats above my name changing the sound of the 'a' so instead of using the proper word I always use the word 'thingy' as has most people i've come across.

Mine was weird and amusing. When I met Billy Boyd I was amazed as he was the first person ever to pronounce my name correctly from the spelling of it. Of course not thinking I told him this and he replied with 'but it has the thingy one it' and my reply being 'yeah but people tend to ignore the thingy or don't know what the thingy is' Que Billy with 'how can they ignore the thingy'. I guess 'the thingy' must be a Scottish thing. And to make me blush even more about this my good friend Silverlady happened to be his PA and although she didn't know me then she remembered me! Not too far to travel for me (from Fife) although I have crewed at a few events down south, I don't mind heading town so I can see my friends. Edinburgh is closest to me but i'm biased as I lived there and its my fave City, ok so on par with NYC. And hey at least our weather is improving

I missed my Bon Jovi gig because of the delays as friends didn't want to travel to MK. I wonder if its the same builders that had the contract for the Scottish Parliment...a big hole in the ground in Edinburgh gee that was useful.

Assuming that the fire was indeed set on purpose, could have been a fault in the wiring or candles, etc. Point being there is no way to know from that statement whether the fire was lit. Plus the question is not 'who is responsible' it is 'what killed him?' While it seems that the question is one in the same, i.e what caused his death there are far too many variables. Such as why did he get shot by the police? Was he endangering someone else? Also no one forced him to run into the burning building. lol I bet the answer is going to be something really simple as well!
