Visiting on only friday

Who came up with the very strange idea to say "we do sell day tickets, but you are not allowed to come only on Friday"? So if you want to visit only on Friday, you have to buy a Three Day package...

Come on!

I'd agree, that was what I tried to do at Destination Star Trek 3.

Unfortunately I encountered problems when Mr. Jonathan Frakes who was supposed to appear Friday, Saturday and Sunday; cancelled his appearance to be replaced by another guest, Mr. Colm Meaney, who was only scheduled to appear on the Saturday and Sunday. There was no replacement for the Friday.

This caused me problems having booked a photoshoot on the Friday.

I did enjoy DST3 though, once my problems were resolved which had to be done upon my arrival on the Friday.

At previous events the Friday has only been a half day with the event opening at 2pm. Maybe that was part of the consideration, hard to justify a full day cost when the event is open less time.

2 pm till 8 pm is 6 hours.

9 pm till 5 pm is 8 hours.

So that's only 2 hours longer...

I'm not sure if the expression exits in English, but to translate a Dutch expression "Don't they cut themselfs in their fingers for this", when any fan only would like visit on the Friday (for whatever reason) and does not go, because if this?

I know... It is what it is, ofcouse, but still

I was thinkning thr same thing having done similar events for many years. Friday is generally a partial day with the opening ceremony with some companies having a few hours for signing and/or photo shoots to take some of the numbers from the weekend days which are usually the busier.

This is disappointing, as Friday is the only day I can attend.

I don't have access to my carer over the weekend, only week days. Looks like I'll be sitting this year out.

can you not organise any one off respite care or a friend who could accompany you? I empathise completely, though I'm "lucky" I have 24 hour care myself.

Looking through my emails from last time, you only need to prove you have a disability to qualify a companion to be with you as a PA - either a blue badge or receipt of DLA letter. They are then given a carer's wrist band and can be with you all day, with the exception of in photoshoots.

If you can find any friend or even a family member to be with you for the day on Saturday or Sunday I would get a ticket for one of those and then email carers@destinationstartrek.com to let them know your needs as I did so you are on their radar.

So glad I have seen this thread, not that I'm happy about it. I hate when organisers take choice away for what seems like no good reason. I'm really annoyed in fact.

I went to DST3 and went only on the Friday and loved it. I got there an hour late and stayed till close. I didn't have chance to look at the props/costumes or any of the stalls, but I did manage to meet all 9 guests I had planned to meet so it was a very productive and efficient show for me.

I have never been to any convention on a Friday so didn't know what to expect... it wasn't quiet but it wasn't manic either. It was just a nice and relaxed affair without insane crowds. However when I went to DST1, I went on the Sunday and it was VERY busy in comparison. I was hoping to go on just Friday this year and was looking forward to less stressful trip but now I'd have to pay for a 3 day pass if I want to go on Friday? A bit of a con if you ask me.

If the (awful) autograph tokens are in effect again with no virtual queuing (disastrous idea), I'm not looking forward to going on Saturday or Sunday as it will be far more of an ordeal.

we say 'cut your nose to spite your face', same sentiment though. I do think it's wrong you can't get a Friday only pass, even if the weekends are actually 9 hours - 9-6pm - and last time the TNG Reunion went on til later on the Saturday too.

I'm sure the mods have said in another thread on here that the token will not be used this time.

Not only the mods, but this has also been repeatedly confirmed by Mark and Jason. No autograph tokens. That is 110 percent definite.

Has a reason been given as there may be a specific reason for this?
