Mandelina
My sister got a house on Saturday, was told she could have the keys this Friday so that's awesome, right? Wrong. The landlord and estate agent specifically told her that the only things they don't allow are pets and smoking so she said fine. They put down the deposit + one months rent which came to £1200 only for her to just get the phone call saying the estate agent doesn't recall her saying she had a baby and isn't allowed the house and won't be getting the £1200 back. Talk about gutted - I even heard my sister saying to the estate agent myself about Reece, and they've been saving for 6 months to get a place together. She's so upset right now, she was so looking forward to starting her own life and getting outta this house with all the crap in it. Ughh, hate to see my sister so upset Think she needs to go to citizens advice, that sounds a bit like a scam? Surely that cant be legal I agree, it sounds like a scam! _Chelsea_
I do hope she does when things calm down a bit. She rang the landlord to say why was it never specified to her when she was looking at the house, and why on earth would she want a two bedroomed house just for her and her boyfriend anyways. And when she told him she's entitled to her money back since they hadn't gotten as far as signing an official contract yet, he hung up the phone on her. He doesn't actually have her money, it's the estate agents - And they seem VERY adamant to keep i ¬_¬ It's such a shame, she was so in love with the house she hasn't stopped crying. Such awful timing too, the tension in this crapshack is horrible right now and woulda been good for her to start her own life away from home. Also gives me somewere to crash when I cba to stay at home too Anyways, how is everyone? And Imma make a photo SOS right now, but it's probably pushing it a bit haha. At proms when Katie & I were in our PJ's, we went into the casino room and two women asked could they take our picture. I didn't recognise them from here, but if anyone sees that pic turn up, can you send it my way? Please & Thank you

dragonsanddaffodils
Right. I have spoken to hubby who is an estate agent, and he said the most they would take would be the admin fee. He said that is wrong and to seek advice. If they have agreed tenancy and not agreed specifics like the baby, then they are at fault for not giving you all the information. If they said you can't have children there, and you said you didn't, then it is a breach of contract, but still shouldn't have lost everything, except perhaps an admin fee. Biggest problem letting agents have is people lying to get a flat/house (not saying that is what you did, he is just trying to think of reasons) however, why would you need to say you have a baby, if they say no dogs and no smoking and you abide by that, then what is the problem? I don't expect to have to tell them what day I go shopping or what colour my pants are! Sounds a bit ridiculous to me! Off to the citizens advice for you! That will be free, and they will tell you whether to go to a solicitor or not. Hope that helps a ittle.

_Chelsea_
Rhi you're an absoloute star! Bless you for taking everyone under your wing She's gonna enquire, mom and dad are making her as they said the only reason she should get her money back is if the landlord pulled out - And it was him who did, so it's only fair they stick to their policy. This forum really is useful for all kinds of stuff

Nope, just one Rhi Yeah I agree, but I don't even know if four clones would be enough! My mum laughed in my face too, or she said and I quote "If it was a The Hills convention I would go!!!" I asked mine cos she has read all four books and the host and seen the film, but she wasn't keen. We went to New York together either last year or the year before courtesy of my sister and her big work bonus! Was a great weekend for the three of us, but they were in bed by 9pm! I ended up watching the newest shows while they slept (like heroes etc) Spiderman 2/3 had just been released (I forget which) and the whole city had spiderman posters still up from the filming! Awesome!

naurarwen_fangorn
For those of you who know my car was broken into I took smurf car to a car body shop today and the guy there bent my door back for free. It was done really easily too, so can kinda see why it was so easy to get in, in the first place. Nearly finished my form for my claim too just need to get my VIN number and one other then I can send it off. Done a pretty epic drawing to of a map thing of the accident. _Chelsea_
Glad you got Smurf sorted Samward, and for free too! Look at you gett all artsy for CSI xD Thanks everyone for the advice and well wishes for my sister, Mom rang them up earlier and told them tey either give the money back or she'd go and sit in the shop until they did. Cheek of it is they still tried to cling onto the money by saying we'll carry on looking for houses for her at which point my mom said it's not as if my sister would ever use them again, and if they didn't give the money back she wouldn't mind taking them to court. Job done! Sucks 'cause Michaela was so in love with that house but something better will come up, guess they just weren't meant to have that particular house. Now I just hope the estate agents let it to people with much worse than a baby & Becky congrats on your new job! Perhaps you'll like it more in time Edited September 25, 2009 by _Chelsea_
MiZcheef
I have a day off on Monday!! My first day off in forever when I haven't had to DO something. I don't have to get up or go anywhere or work. So I'm thinking of what to do with myself. Am rather thinking a visit to Slatteries(if its open!) would be rather nice!! :) I also need to visit shops (it will be pay day too!! Thank you thank you!!) AND I need to go to the gym. I'm thinking that should be enough for the day right?
