  1. Hello, hoping to find out a bit more about the talks so I'm prepared! 1 - how many people approx does the main free talk stage, second stage and stunt show area each hold? 2 - will the tickets for the free talks all be available at once, or only a certain time before each talk? so, could I get all the free talk tickets I want on the Friday for the whole weekend? 3 - will the free talk tickets, goody bag collection, stunt show and other for sale tickets, be available until 9pm on the Friday? Thanks. Marie.
  2. Hi - with 10,750 attending this event I'm a bit worried about getting into the talks and waiting in queue's only to find they're all gone (free as well as paid - so some not available to purchase / reserve beforehand). How many people will each of the following seat / take, including any standing room, as an esimation? Main Auditorium Free Talk area Stunt Show Any ideas?

    hotel

Don't know if I should tell you this incase it makes you angrier! I booked my room at Park Inn on 12th September but via Hotels.com - I've just rang Park Inn and they have confirmed my reservation. Not sure if it makes a difference that I booked for one person and a queen bed - maybe it is only twin rooms they are having a problem with? and I'm only booked in for 2 nights - Friday and Saturday. Or do you get different T&Cs if you book under the conference rate via chevron 7.7 than if you book normally. Anyway - really feel for you, I would be mega pi**ed off if it was me. Just hope when I turn up tomorrow they don't say something different and try to move me. Honestly, good luck and hope you get it all sorted.

    Quotables!

Crew: you need to join the queue for Teryls autograph Attendee: at the back? Crew: that is usually how queues work
  5. Didn't actually know anything about them before this weekend, but; First thing I did when I got home was tell my mum I want to be a Pirate! Second thing was to tell her all about the talk by Captain Paul Watson. Third thing was to find and set to record Whale Wars (Discovery Channel, Friday nights at 9pm or repeated Sunday at 11pm). Really enjoyed the talk and already filled in my donation at the show for regular monthly payments.
  6. Assume because it's so busy that decided against doing a screening at this Chevron - shame though as I was really looking forward to it, was great at 7.5 and I thought a real hit.
  7. Thought it was going to be seated tables this time so bit disappointed. The last two times I went gold I duly stood at a table and missed guests both times as I stayed where I was rather than chasing the guests around like others did - so one time I missed David Hewlett which was a big disappointment. So this time if I have to move about to see all the guests I want then I will do that - just seems like more work for everyone though. Can't you consider having twelve tables with seating so we can all stay put and the guests aren't chased around and hounded?
  8. Hi Yvie How about standard ticket sales? are there loads left or going faster than silver?
  9. How about a big book alongside the donation tin/bucket where we can write our messages to RDA so he has it to take away after the event?
  10. Not sure if this helps with the whole 'time contraint' questions - but people at 7.5 were saying that because RDA's signature is quite long it does take him longer to sign things, and I think (but do not quote me and I don't know the many so only repeating what I've heard) that he's a bit uncomfortable in these situations, so I think the time constraint is solely on those two points and he will be there over the whole weekend. From chatting with attendees at 7.5 (so no one official) the feeling was it was unlikely there would be extra autographs to buy, again because of the above - but who knows personally i'd like to get an extra one (I've got gold) so fingers crossed. They announced last night at the con there were only 15 gold tickets left - so suggest you get in quick if you are looking for gold - they didn't mention silver so assume all ok for that. There was only about 400-450 people at 7.5 and the autographs were split over 2 days and although there was some time to spare on it, with 7.6 there's going to be more than double that amount so I think there will be a time constraint in just getting the normal autographs from other guests let alone RDA. Hope that helps a bit - ultimately until ME announce whether there will be extra autographs or photo's available to buy with RDA it's all just speculation. Look forward to seeing you all there!
  11. As Lexa is at the event, any chance of getting Michael on the phone to say hi? I know it's not the same as meeting him in person, and obviously no autographs or photo's - but it would be a nice little added bonus / take the edge off a bit to have him phone in and say Hi to us all and tell us a bit about what he's doing.
  12. Ok, I've given this a lot of thought and I've figured it all out ...... There is going to be a huge intergalatic party on the Saturday night of 7.6, we'll be beamed aboard the Daedaleus in groups to join the other races - the Tollan (yes, of course they survived!), the ex-Priors (who now worship Kyle Minogue) and the Nox (no magic disappearing acts - sorry!). Musical entertainment provided by Samantha Carter on the Cello (yes, she learned how to play), Rodney McKay on the piano (he always wanted to be a pianist you know!) and singing by Teyla Emmagan. Workshops will be held by Vala on how to rollerskate, Jack O'Neill on how to use a pottery wheel and T'ealc will teach people how to juggle. Security on the night will be oranised by Everett Young with bouncers Ronan and Ronald Greer. Official footage of the event recorded by Eli Wallace using multiple Kino's. For those with a romantic streak, there will be miseltoe in two key locations (Christmas or not, got to have the miseltoe) - unfortunately only a hug and quick peck allowed - one for the ladies will permanently have underneath Daniel Jackson, John Sheppard and Matthew Scott the other for the men will have Tamara Johansen, Chloe Armstrong and Jennifer Keller (just don't let McKay catch you!) Food and drink will consist of blue jello, fruit loops, turkey sandwiches and lemonade made from real lemons (water specially provided for Rodney McKay).
  13. I'm thinking maybe Robert Carlyle? has to be someone big so either him or RDA

    Upgrading

If the letters weren't done immediately and it all the ticket holders kept on spreadsheets it would be really easy to move everyone 'up' a list if someone upgraded and added someone to the bottom of the next. The only fair way is if you upgrade you get added to the bottom of the list your upgrading too and everyone on the old list gets moved up a spot. I've done events for the company I work for and various admin things and as long as you give a cut off date you can do everything on computer and it doesn't take long and the letters can be generated by the system and nothing needs to be handwritten. Personally I'd love to see an upgrade option and it's a way to get people to buy tickets straight away and if there's an 'upgrade fee' of say £5 per ticket most people would pay it - I can only see benefits for everyone in this.
  15. I'm guessing/hoping you mean 7pm rather than am... That would be ideal - does anyone know for sure? Hi - It's definitely after 6pm - exact time would be advised on the schedule of events which they normally post a week or so before the weekend.

    Upgrading

I'd luv to see an upgrade option available and personally would be happy to pay up to £10 to upgrade if I found I had more money nearer the time or better guests. Definitely think a cut off time would be required, so about six weeks so can alter in time to get letters out etc... As people have said, more likely to sell tickets earlier if people know they can upgrade later if better guests etc... so I think more standard tickets would sell sooner so SM would have money in the bank to know how much they have to spend on guests rather than not having a clue because people are waiting to see who's coming before deciding on ticket price. I'm going to Warp 10 and have decided on silver as I wanted to get ticket booked so SM have money to book more guests - but if they had a great guest suddenly sign up like Leonard Nimoy or Patrick Stewart I'd be disappointed that I hadn't waited and got Gold - but if I'd done that SM might not have booked that guest as not enough money. Bit round in circles isn't it!
  17. Ace news, can't wait for c7.4 - just hope it doesn't snow that weekend and cause any problems, fingers crossed! Really hope all the other attendees are pleased to and will support him and show him what a great time can be had at a con. I plan on giving him a really warm welcome.
  18. I'm not sure, but I have heard that some actors/guests don't like some of the US conventions because of the way it's organised - so even if it c7.5 did clash with a US con (which it doesn't this time) I still think there would be some great guests, especially as showmasters are great organisers and everyone including guests have so much fun!
  19. Hi Colonel Ez - I agree, obviously I'm disappointed Brian isn't coming as is most people, but to think of treating them badly or being rude to them I think is awful. He's been very apologetic and open about him not coming and I respect him for that. There is never any guarantee that any guest will make it and they can cancel / change their mind for any reason - it is a long way for them to come to the UK and I know they get paid but things change and all we're guaranteed when we buy a ticket is that there will be at least 4 guests and we just need to take a risk when we buy a ticket. I'm going to enjoy the event regardless and I'm really looking forward to it - sure it would be great if Brian was coming but I'm not going to hold it against him and will have a great time regardless.
  20. There are some region 2 DVD's being sold on Ebay now in English.
  21. I know what you mean! I first went to a convention in Canada earlier this year and I was soooo worried I was going to look out of place - boy was I wrong! there really is a complete mixture of people there so the old stereotype is completely wrong and out the window! you'll meet young, old, female, male etc... etc... Sure, some people will dress up but you don't have to and you'll really enjoy looking at some of the costumes people wear as they can be good - personally I just go in jeans and a nice top and look like I've just walked in off the street! The stars I've met before have been soooo nice it's unbelievable! really look you in the eye and genuinely interested, pleasant and pleased that you've come to meet them - one way of knowing that is to go on Twitter (if you're not already a member) and you can follow David Hewlett, Brian Smith and Bam Bam who are all going to the 7.4 as well as some other stars (Amanda Tapping, Jewel Staite, David Blue), you'll see that they are really down to earth people. You will have an absolulte blast and everyone is really friendly - I go on my own and always find people to talk to. Marie.
  22. I used to run a film club and you could hire DVD's for a weekend for only about £75 that had all the copyright included, so one DVD with 4 episodes on - so cost wouldn't be much at all.
  23. I was at Chevron 7.3 and I’m eagerly anticipating 7.4, having been to a couple of other cons in the US and the UK there are a few things I would luv! to see at 7.4 that they didn’t have at 7.3 and some suggestions. Want to make this clear that 7.3 was a GREAT con and 7.4 I’m sure will be also be just as excellent, so please, nothing here is in anyway a criticism, merely a suggestion on possible ways to improve on greatness for both guests, staff and attendees. 1. tables at gold party cocktail get together – this would be so much easier for the staff and guest and would mean ticket holders aren’t worried about seeing everyone and wondering if they’re standing in the right place. 10 tables with 15 gold members and a spare ‘reserved’ chair for the guest is all it would need, at five minutes per table that would be 50 minutes and would work out great. 2. cabaret night – saw this in the US, where the guests get up on stage and ‘perform’ something, Robert Picardo sang, David Nykl read from a book with two audience volunteers acting out the scene (it as a mills and boon book so really funny!) and Connor Trineer did a ‘radio sketch’ with Robert Picardo. It was really good and was about an hour, would be great to see this done say before the party kicked off one night. 3. episode showings – was really surprised at 7.3 that this didn’t happen, so instead of using the ballroom for autographs or guest encounters another room is used so the ballroom always has the seating in and when different groups are waiting to be called or are in between photos and autographs there are Stargate episodes shown (or Dogs Breakfast which would be great!) 4. one queue for autographs – went to a ‘con’ where you queued once and went straight from one autograph table to the next, seemed to work really well and meant that it felt shorter for ticket holders, could also do three sessions one for gold, one for silver and one for standard to break it up a bit for the guests (admittedly if you had Rainbow like we did at 7.3 might be difficult as he took three times longer than the others!) 5. competitions – costume competition (the guy who was dressed in full Jaffa outfit with glowing eyes at 7.3 was great!) and music video or similar competition. Prizes can be really simple like a voucher off a future convention or a voucher for the dealers room. 6. guest talks – wasn’t keen on the ‘quiz’ at 7.3, was good to give it a go though as you never know until these things are tried, so definitely more guest talks and the ‘group’ talks were hilarious so definitely want a few of those please! if questions aren’t put in abundance could always have half hour talks (NB: I didn’t know where the question box was until the Sunday morning, so might be good to make sure it’s easily located where everyone knows where it is) 7. numbered seating – too late for 7.4 I think, but if there’s a 7.5 would be easier to have set seating for the entire event that is numbered, would have thought it would be easier for Staff as well as attendees. As I said above, 7.3 was great and I did really enjoy it – obviously everyone has different idea’s and preferences and I have no idea if any of the above has been tried before and maybe wasn’t successful.
  24. Go to Rachel's website and see her latest note, she mentions changes to plans and that she wants to come to Europe next year so hopefully she could come to Chevron 7.4 - would be great!
  25. I'd like Claudia Black and / or Ben Browder from SG1, if anyone else from Atlantis I'd like to see Rachel Luttrell (Jason would have been lovely as I've not met him, but as he was at 7.2 that aint gonna happen!) and if they do pick someone else from SGU think Robert Carlyle would be great! If they ever go for someone from back stage, Bam Bam would be good. Marie.
