I had a fab weekend. There was lots of good stuff and lots of not so good stuff that could easily be improved too. I'll write both down as well as I can, as SM asked for feedback, even though it does seem like some of the constructive criticism gets shot down very quickly on the forum!
Great stuff:
Screening and commentary Just epic Would be very happy to see one on the schedule next yr.
Not too much queuing This is always a good thing!
PJs!! Seemed to be very much enjoyed by everyone who wore them!
The guests Were fab. Anthony was SO nice to meet and Robin especially was hilarious in the talks.
Much better standard of questions which I guess is down to us. So, yay us!
The pumpkins! They were awesome!
Giles doing the photos, they seem to have come out really well.
Malcolm's photoshoots Fab as usual.
Things that could be improved:
The DJ It's been mentioned loads already but it was just insane. A great song that gets everyone up, followed by an awful song that noone can dance to. Pattern repeated all night. Especially Sunday.
The parties I didn't think they had masses of atmosphere. Would be nice to have something else to do really. And it was obvious that not much effort was put into Fri or Sun night.
Questions being repeated/weirdly selected/not followed up This was a bit weird at times. I lost count of how many times the MC guy asked what they'd be doing if they weren't actors. Poor Jewel must have said she wanted to be a somalier (spelling?!) about five times. Also there were a few rubbish questions in there which it seemed odd to have asked considering that I know other questions were submitted (some by me, lol!) which were a bit more relevant!
Closing ceremony As loads of people have said, was a bit awkward and embarrassing and nothing-y. Though I seem to remember everyone saying the same thing last year and nothing changed
Communication before the con, especially guests and PARTY THEMES! I don't know why it took so long to announce the themes for Fri and Sun, especially seeing as they ended up going with what we'd all suggested months and months ago on the forum. Plus they were never added to the website. Obviously guests being announced earlier, and getting the amount we'd been promised would be nice too.
Guests changing their minds halfway through photo shoots. I don't mind if you don't want to hug, whatever, but doing it for half and then getting bored is a bit rude and makes people upset.
The hall temperature and chairs being needlessly squashed up More space between rows, less heat please!
The quiz I love quizzes. I love Whedon. I love the guests. So I should have loved this, but it was sooo boring and drawn out. Sorry I'm sure a quiz could be awesome but it needs to be much more quick fire. Loads of good suggestions already as to how it could be improved. It'd be nice at a different time to have a more pub quiz style thing just for the attendees too.
Um... OK think that's everything! Hoping to go to HW3 but waiting on the guests first!
