I'm assuming we're using the Millenium Rules addendum for online play as well as Stovolds? If so... Monument. (Of course, if we're not using the online rules, that's clearly invalid).
-
May be simple to you, but I'm impressed. I must be rustier than I thought. Hmm... Hounslow... East.
-
East Ham. (Obvious, I know)
-
Is castling allowed? If not, this is a bit risky... Notting Hill Gate.
-
Just got my confirmation letter, welcoming me to Chevron 7.8, held last February. I'm guessing this is a typo - elsewhere the letter mentions Hub 8, and that's certainly what I paid for... Anyone else got this, or just me?
-
As it's the last one, I'll probably try & be there. Been to all the previous ones except 4... Anyone know if the hotel still has rooms?
-
Are there silver tickets still available? (and if so, are they also available on the door?)
-
YEP Sazzy was the old man And this is me & my best mate Kelly (i'm Star Trek) I meant to ask - How long did your hair take to do? Was that a proper beehive? It looked great, either way.
-
Glad you had such a great time. Did you try any of the con dances?
-
Hope everyone had as least as much fun as I did. I got my Con Flu over quickly - it floored me on Saturday, but half a packet of strepsils later, I was back in circulation. After saying I had trouble meeting new people, Hello to Amanda, Charlotta, Rebecca, Anya, Sylvie, & Astrid. Also Hello to everyone I knew already - Great to see you again Special thanks to everyone else playing Consequences - Nem, Gem, Laura, Ally, Carole, Helen, Jay, Midnight, Clare, Tony Stark, and several people whose names I never knew - you're all wonderful, if overly obsessed with sex & cake. and I hope I got your names right. My memory is awful...
-
Glad to see it's not just me that's really shy at talking to new people... It's funny - I know I have something in common with everybody there, but it still doesn't always help... Good to hear you've found someone now though.
-
Hi, I'm Jon, I'm 30...something, been to all the Hubs except 4, and if I had any photos of myself I liked, I'd post one. Usually to be found on the dancefloor if they're playing con songs.
-
I have no idea. I remember a spoon featured in the game last Hub, but have completely forgotten why... The game would work just fine without one, I guess.
-
Shouldn't be hard to organise. All we need is a table, some pens, paper... and a spoon.

I really enjoyed it. A playlist could be a good idea for the parties - maybe even get requests sent in before the event? Personally I'd like less rock & metal played, and more cheese, but that's just me. I still had great fun at the parties, despite pulling a muscle during Star Trekking, and was one of the six people doing Joe 90 - my thanks to the other five I also liked the live commentary - similar thing done at the last Hub. Also liked the quiz, which was new to me, anyway, and I still cannot believe in a room of several hundred whedonverse fans, I was the only person who knew the name of St Lucy's...

I'm at the Sheraton - the Thistle doesn't compare.

Have you ever felt shy or nervous when you have met a guest ?.
Travels hopefully replied to Beth's topic in Guests
It depends who it is, but often pretty nervous. Unfortunately, when I'm nervous, I can either clam up completely (bad) or start talking rubbish (worse). Got off to a tricky start, with the first guest I ever met being Julie Benz. I said this was my first signing event, she said 'Have I popped your cherry?', and my brain shut down. Clare Kramer, who was next, must have thought I was almost mute. My worst experience was with Terry Pratchett - I'm a huge fan - where I babbled so much the man himself told me to shut up, and in retrospect I don't blame him. It's funny now, but at the time I could have died... -
It wasn't what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it - I didn't get the chance to dance (much - the Timewarp can be done sat down), but at least I could hear what people were saying. Also, thanks to whoever drafted me into the Consequences game, as that was so much fun - I'm really not good at talking to people I don't know, so I probably wouldn't have had the courage to join in otherwise. Yes, I'm that shy. I was the guy in the Richard Whitely t-shirt that was older than Alex.

I had no problem at all with the staff, who were polite & helpful, especially with providing paper & spoons at odd hours of the morning. No complaints here.

When did you plan to go as Eleven? I've got an Eleven-ish ladies jacket that I'm only planning to wear Friday afternoon. It's an 18. Very kind, thanks - when I wrote that, I was thinking of ditching the whole idea, until my sister turned up with a Fez and a mop, so as she'd gone to all that trouble, I'm kind of obliged to go for it now, probably Saturday... If you see a guy dressed as 11 without a jacket, it's probably me
-
I was planning to go as 11, but I can't find a tweed jacket anywhere - I've been scouring charity shops. I'll be looking again in Northampton, but it may well not happen.
-
Thanks for that, but a bit pricy for me. I've seen a shirt in Matalan (of all places) with a thin red stripe, which should do.
-
Gosh. Yes, that helps more than a little. Okay, looks like I'm going for a 'close enough' look then. Thanks. Most of the time will be spent on a dimly lit dance floor anyway...
-
I haven't tried cosplay before, but I've got the hair for the 11th doctor, so assuming I can get the bits, I'll do that. Speaking of which... Trousers & braces are easy enough, and a trawl round charity shops should get me the jacket. But, does anyone know what brand of shirt he wears? I may just have to go for one close enough, but if I can get one the same that's better. The tie will also be close enough, unless anyone can recommend somewhere that stocks proper burgundy bowties...

anybody want to join me for the train jorney up
Travels hopefully replied to lordy's topic in The Hub 3
Anyone coming from the north by train? I could be coming from Crewe (unless I decide to drive...) Never tried to get to the NEC by train - how easy is it?
