  1. We were told it would all be enclosed and finished ages ago!
  2. That's hardly the point, is it? At the first Collectormania at the stadium (2009), the air was so damp that the 8x10's were sticking together. My photographic poster crackled as it was unrolled. There is still no overall improvement. Why are these stars of stage and screen expected to sit "happily" all day just a few degrees above zero? No, it isn't so bad for us walking around with the opportunity to move and warm up but it is still disgraceful to put the event on and treat people like this at all. Very good point.
  3. As someone interested in all things Titanic I missed out on the auction in Devizes which I regret now as now I find out it was to benefit Millvina Dean directly. It probably is short notice for SM's to do anything though? Maybe a collection bucket or something at the event?
  4. I agree fully! This country is rubbish with older people so lets do our bit!
  5. Is there going to be cake? I like cake. We need a guest who will promise to be dextrous with this lovely icing.
  6. They were brilliant those Klingons! They were everywhere! I hope to see them next time too!
  7. Yeah, WW2 guests are a good idea. Battle of Britain pilots (both sides) would be good.
  8. Anyone going to LFACC soon will be close to Freddie Mercurys home. (Now lived in by Mary Austin). I popped there last time and it is odd in the sense that Mercury actually lived there! I can understand this whole Elvis and Graceland thing now! Can we at least get Spike Edney who worked with Queen for years and years and pops up in live gigs all the time on piano and guitar etc....?
  9. How about Vulcan Bomber pilots who took part in Operation Black Buck on the Falkland Islands in 1982? This will have more interest as the only flyable Vulcan is flying this year after a long restoration project.
  10. In an interview Brian May did he said he hated autographing things as when he has to say no or needs to go people get irate. I would live to meet him though but as people have said on here he is a busy man. Roger Taylor anyone?
  11. Too many events. Quantity not quality seems to be the SM way of late. Sad but true!
  12. Did someone mention argue? I like to argue!
  13. Royal Lido or just Lido as it is called now had rubbish service, food was good but service was emabarrasing. There was a table of about ten people who were all complaining about meals not ordered correctly or not at all and our meals came out wrong. I recommend the TaiPan opposite Elements as the food and service are brilliant! (TaiPan, if you get customers from my glowing report I will expect a free starter)
  14. There are idiots and Chavs everywhere now, welcome to 2008! I bet there are idiots in "Las Vegas Crime Lab"? So....yeah, lets just blame the locals then shall we? That resolves everything! Ophelia as someone that does not come from anywhere near MK (Somerset to be precise) I can only vouch for MK and say the people and location are fine with me! And in 10+ Collectormanias I have had a good time and the people are friendly.
  15. This thread appears after every MK CM event. I believe it is in the perfect venue, yes an event at lets say the NEC is less fraught with danger and "gawpers" but there is nothing to do and the food is silly money. The MK centre has loads of good distractions and plenty of reasonably priced food. Milton Keynes itslf is nice, I had reservations about the place first of all but it grows on you and it would be rubbish elsewhere. When C14 comes along this thread will be started again but it is tradition now I think! Oh and yeah........ban pushchairs
  16. I think Edd summed it up perfectly! Sometimes if the guests are a bit naff then it is nice to go to the event, catch up with friends and take a leisurley walk around the stalls!
  17. I think it is lacking big names but there seems to be a big mix for the punters of MK! Sometimes you can do without the Shatners and Patrick Stewarts as the other guests are pretty lame when a big name is there. Also, could it be something to do with that writers strike? As now they are writing it's back to work?
  18. As 'the man sat with him' I'd have to say he was an extremely professional and organised guest, and as a result it was a very easy and pleasant day's work. Oldnick, you were brilliant too! The pair of you were professionals, very efficient
  19. Fuel- £45 Dinner- £40 Prunella- £15 Bannister- £30 Meeting Leslie Philips- £Priceless!
  20. Brilliant, love the hotel location and everything. It is spitting distance from the UKs biggest airport so all these "I had to find/get bus" deal with it! Guests were brilliant (nice mixture)
  21. I don't know how many of you spoke to Mike Bannister but he was so friendly and informative. He was very sincere and asked where he should sign and if you brought your own poster as I did then he told you a few facts about it. All in all after going to literally every SM show since C4 he is one of the best
  22. Try SWA Fine Art they have some amazing prints Thanks for the info abitmax, they have some really good pictures! Too much choice now!
