  1. What this guy said is that he only wants to see George , not that he can only afford to see him . You can't believe how chuffed I am therefore that Tobe Hooper has cancelled and I have saved myself £20
  2. Does anybody ( maybe you Jason ) know how this will affect Marina Sirtis's appearance at the C12 - wasn't she also at the other show this weekend ?
  3. Pretty much the same as Nicky so far . Already got Romero though , and want Jewel Staite on my Firefly photo instead . And yay , Escape From New York - my DVD cover is already signed by Harry Dean Stanton , so want them two on it - then might write off to Ernest Borgnine while I still can
  4. I have a few works in progress really :- Doctor Who : The Five Doctors paperback signed by ( so far ) :- 7 TV Doctors and one from the 1970s stage play ( Pat Troughton , Jon Pertwee , Tom Baker , Peter Davison , Colin Baker , Sylvester McCoy , Paul McGann and Trevor Martin ) - as you can see , it still needs Chris Eccleston and David Tennant - and is also signed by about 20 of the Doctors companions . Large Doctor Who book signed by about 130 people from in front of and behind the scenes . Also another one signed by about 110 . And another one signed by about 50 , including 6 of the same 7 Doctors ( needs Sylvester McCoy as well as the new 2 ) . I also enjoy adding to :- Hellboy DVD signed by Guillermo Del Toro , Ron Perlman , Corey Johnson , John Hurt , Rupert Evans and David Hyde Pierce . Alien DVD signed by Ian Holm , Yaphet Kotto , Veronica Cartwright , John Hurt and Harry Dean Stanton . Life Of Brian DVD signed by Terry Jones , Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin . Flash Gordon DVD signed by Sam J Jones , Melody Anderson , Brian Blessed and Richard O'Brien . Then , there are :- Blakes 7 pb signed by every main cast member ( all of the regular cast - the seven - that is ) . Red Dwarf pb signed by all the crew(s) as well as both writers . 3 Lord of The Rings posters ( one for each film ) each signed by approx 20 Stargate poster signed by about 35 Books signed by nearly all of my favourite writers , including Stephen King , James Herbert , Clive Barker , Jeffery Deaver , Andy McNab etc Not many are , to me , complete yet - I suppose I still want to collect so they aren't gonna be
  5. I think , knowing Mr Shanks like we ALL do by now , that there is a BIG chance that no-one will be queuing for him at this show
  6. Yes , it was so cool when Maul stepped out with the double light saber ...... and then , 13 seconds later when he was dead and down the hole ..... you sorta wondered why he had been the MAJOR selling point of the film Maybe another toy-selling excuse from the money-grabbing American film-maker , me thinks
  7. The problem is that they seem to be able to concentrate on one con at the minute , but now they have loads extra to deal with . It is blatantly obvious that they have bitten off far more than they can chew , and certain Cons will be the one that will pay for it . This one as already been changed once , the Manchester Gmex one was cancelled , there is still only one guest announced for Glasgow , and that is a damned sight closer than Ring Con . I enjoy SM events still at the minute , but if they are gonna spread things thinner and thinner they are gonna spend less and less time on each show until it becomes a waste of time for fans . I know that SM want to rule the roost in UK Cons , but they already do - they are in danger of killing themselves off rather than all the other Cons - I want the correct amount of time spent organising each Con , not an ever-dwindling amount Meet Jason face to face and he seems like a great guy - he really seems interested in getting the guests that people want . But some of his decisions in adding loads more shows to an already large amount of SM shows have already been proved to be a mistake . Are SM still involved in the big Star Wars event ? What about another show - is that definitely confirmed ? Whether it is right or wrong , it is obvious that you are less inclined to go to a show if there is nobody you want to meet , or if you take so long announcing guests that people eventually book for another show . I would just love it ( and I am a LOTR fan so it would also annoy the Hell out of me ) , if SM got back to the original number of Cons - 2 CMs , one LFCC and just one Manchester GMex and concentrated fully on them and produced the shows that we know they can to the best of their ability . The fact is it is proving far too expensive for me to get to all these shows - I will still do the CMs because I love the whole weekend , but there is no way on earth that I can afford all the shows I wanna go to - and I have a full time job . Do the right thing Jason , please .
  8. Sounds good , but I haven't got a credit card ( or bank account for that matter ) so is there any way that I could do this without one ? Can you think of a way to do it ? Other than that , the best I can do is if I can bring my girlfriend's acc no ? Could I do this with that ? She may or may not be around when I get to the SFX stall , could I bring her acc. no. and then bring her around another time to confirm ? If someone from SFX can answer this I don't need to queue for half an hour to find out I can't do this .
  9. Sharpie are stopping making the gold pens , and are also in the process of stopping the silver ones , because of the length of time it takes them to dry - you will struggle to get any of these within a couple of years , which is why people have been selling these two colours , and maybe bronze , seperately on eBay .
  10. The new numbers in the votes seem to prove that gang voting is taking place - losing the REAL point of the vote
  11. I am quite confused about your post so I shall say well done for a good title , and stop moaning about what everybody else thinks If you cant say anything positive dont say anything at all I'd never ever speak , and neither would most of the people on this forum , except David B maybe
  12. I am quite confused about your post so I shall say well done for a good title , and stop moaning about what everybody else thinks
  13. Is this another case of somebody counting their chickens before they have hatched ? There are blatantly too may shows next year so I won't be too shocked if certain ones get left behind . It is a shame , but maybe a lesson can be learned
  14. Just noticed te date for number 3 , hadn't realised that it was so early - and nice idea for a giveaway .
  15. My choices would be :- TV Firefly Not exactly a re-union but how about all the Star Trek Captains together Robin Of Sherwood Man From UNCLE Scrubs Roswell Films Breakfast Club Alien Blade Runner Dawn Of The Dead Pirates Of The Caribbean ( maybe dreaming on this one but .....) That is a start , and I always prefer guests who have been in a few popular things .
  16. Amazing guest , and I would love to be there when he is there with Tom Hanks , who played him in the film
  17. Undoubtably one of my top 5 wants - what a fantastic guest SM
  18. I do believe that either you have never watched TV or moviess , or that you may be talking out of something down below .
  19. Some people may think Ernie Hudson is an average guest , others will hate him , some will love him . The same goes for ALL the guests at this and every event . All these events are down to individual taste and people are gonna hate them and love them equally . Some people even think that we are all a bunch of geeks for wanting to meet these people - and everyone and no-one is right . If you don't like it , don't go or do go or whatever - but no-one loves a whiner Or do we all love one - I'm not sure now myself Thanks for your opinion , it's just what I was missing in my life
  20. I always thought Paul wasn't bothered about coming back - what do you mean by emotional Daren ? Hi Kris , sorry about the delay - weekend away . Yes , when I met Paul the conversation started off quite well ( I don't actually hate the Movie ) , but I knew from a friend ( and from something I read ) that he was a bit upset that now they were bringing Doctor Who back , they weren't going to give him another go . I asked him nicely if he would of at least liked the chance to regenerate , he said yeah obviously , but the good mood had been broken . I started to follow on my question , but it kept aiming towards more of the same - I got embarassed , so did he , and so did his assistant . I got peed off for upsetting him and he got a bit upset about the subject matter - one of them ground swallow me up meetings , I still cringe when I remember his face .
  21. This started off as BIG GUEST , these may or may not be good guests ( depending on where your head is ) but they are certainly not BIG . It is possible , still fairly early , bound to get someone else from a biggish recent film or TV series . I am hoping for :- JOHN HURT DAVID WENHAM KATE BECKINSALE SIGOURNEY WEAVER Some chance of most ( maybe not Kate ) - let's hope for someone we want ( or don't if you have no money ) .
  22. That is a lot of retirement ( 8 posts in 3 years ) , you must REALLY want Clancy to come , and why not ? I am bringing your post back to life to make sure that SM know exactly how much we want Clancy - some of us have been asking for years , and I think we deserve him now .
  23. I am normally very POLITE and friendly to guests , but at C5 I had a couple of very unfriendly meetings almost one after the other - do not be unfriendly to guests I wanted Brad Dourif to finish off a photo that I had already had signed by Karl Urban , but it is a photo where Brad is out of focus , in perspective . I wanted to complete the photo , but he wanted to sign a nice , in-focus photo , which is really fair enough . What isn't fair enough was tha attitude though . He said something along the lines of " Or I could sign a photo where you can see me ? " , to which I replied something like " Or you can sign the photo that I have for you to sign ! " . Very nice . Next I came to Robert Picardo , who was a little sulky because hardly anyone was getting his or John Billingsley's auto ( the Friday afternoon blues ? ) , and then became more sulky when I had the audacity to ask him to sign a Stargate poster that he isn't on rather than a Voyager one that he is on - how could I ? At another Collectormania , I met Paul McGann and the conversation started out really friendly , about Doctor Who , and then I had to go and ask him if he was still upset at the Beeb for not giving him another chance ( I could hear myself asking , but couldn't for the life of me stop myself ) - he got quite emotional really , made even worse when I asked him what he thought of Chris Eccleston's Doctor . Like everyone says , be prepared for something to ask , or you might just blurt something out that you regret - and then there is no going back .
  24. The Hoff (not for me though) Don't know about the others lol but thought you might like to know, The Hoff is doing an autobiography signing in London soon, so whoever it's for there's hope all round! Hoff is also doing Manchester Trafford Park so keep an eye out for him if you live further north
  25. Wouldn't Sigourney just be one of the best announcements anyway , I love ALIEN , and the Ghostbusters films are a lot of fun , but even in Working Girl and Copycat , and especially The Year Of Living Dangerously she is fantactic .
