Am I right in thinking there's a major match on one of the proposed dates? If so, those of you griping at the moment would just gripe even more when you couldn't find accomodation because it'll all be booked up by football fans. SM's have made a sensible move and this is probably the only sensible solution to a problem caused by the venue, not the organisers. To those of you who booked non refundable tickets etc - it's regrettable but unfortunately, these things do happen. Companies make their money in unfair ways, non refundable tickets being one of them. There's plenty more conventions to attend and I'm sure it's not the first time an event has been cancelled by any company due to double bookings beyond their control. SM's now have to go to all confirmed guests and amend all those contracts and other lovely bits of paperwork - I'm sure you could sympathise slightly in this case. Cancelling the event puts me out too but nowhere near as much as I would be if I wasn't home for Mother's Day

I'm crewing so getting the train up on Friday morning to help with set up then coming home on Sunday night by train

Considering you're at every event Nicky, I think that makes you as geeky as the rest of us. Even though 'Pot, kettle, black' springs to mind, I really don't think this is worth an entire topic of it's own. Whoever the guy was, he's entitled to wearing what he wants and to praise who he wants - public naming and shaming is base activity. Let's just leave people to their own tastes shall we? Being a geek is no bad thing...costs a fortune but I think that's about it!

It's disappointing there are people with less agreeable attitudes but you really shouldn't let yourselves get so riled - some people bought it, some didn't, some think it's a silly idea, others don't - the power of choice is a great thing and we've all got it so why don't we just leave that to each other? Opinions about gold passes are fine, getting annoyed at each other over it isn't so grand - it just seems a bit silly arguing over something that's past and is a matter of personal choice. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me but I mean no offence to anyone :)

I'm usually crewing but can't this time as I've been dragged off to Germany with a cathedral choir.... Hi, I'm Naomi :) I'm sure I'll bump into you at some point but for now, my advice is: 1) Don't be afraid to approach any crew members you don't know - we're all there for the same reason and I can guarantee that within the first 5 minutes of you arriving for your first shift, you'll meet someone with like interests, we're quite a varied bunch. 2) Getting to the event of a morning - don't be afraid to ask if you can share a taxi with someone - everyone else without a car will be thinking the same thing and if you can fill a taxi, hey, it's cheaper for all of you and it gives you the chance to talk to more people :) 3) Where there's a bar, there's always SM crew propping it up - don't be afraid to join in. 4) Stock up on plenty of water and chocolate from the crew room at the beginning of your shift - you'll need it!!! Don't worry about wandering around looking clueless - every event is unpredictable and even some of us who've been crewing for a while still look clueless aka me Have fun!

The entire department got a talking to as the head had been so blind to the whole process, he hadn't been regulating the nominations as he should have been. I strongly suggest you tackle the subject Turk - you never know, maybe the head girl will get a proverbial slap around the ego

You need to bring the teacher's attention to the apparent favouritism and how you feel about it - it's too obvious to be a coincidence - 6 years running is no fluke! The same happened to me with a music prize at school; the prize was specifically for achievement in Higher Level Music Study at A Level or AS Level (of which I was the only A Level Pupil) and it was awarded to a year 11 for a music GCSE....?!!! I politely kicked up a stink and the teacher admitted to favouritism. Be calm about it if you chose to question it and don't get up on your moral high horse as that's what the teachers would expect. This really is a long overdue idea and I sincerely hope it works out but as already mentioned, if there is only one hour set aside (And I don't know the allocated amount of time yet as I haven't had the chance to read the information), surely people will have to be rushed through during the photography queue just the same as they're rushed through the autograph queue? Also, I think if you want to get both auto and picture at £20 for a photo and minimum £20 for an auto, it is asking rather a lot. Speaking from a crew member perspective, it could work really well but then, there could also be a lot of disappointed or angry fans....but then again, it has to be expected, not everyone can be pleased. Good idea though :)
