  3. I felt it was missing something Wish my bank balance was indestructible!!
  4. Thank God!! I thought I'd just had a stroke.
  5. Fair point. It was the mood I was in at the time, but that's no excuse and I genuinely apolagise if my sarcasm came over as overly rude, I honestly meant it to come over as more jovial than it obviously did. The issue of no tone in text. I very much appreciate your reply Too Tall. Having spoken to you at a couple of CM's and LFCC's and having seen you at probably all the ones I've been at, I thought your response was out of character. We can all have a bad day but I thank you for your apology. Consider the matter forgotten.
  6. once your there the costs soon rise, accommodation, travel, food, drink, attractions ect ect I would like to do more traveling though, hate going on my own though, vegas will be my first trip abroad going solo You are never alone in Vegas! Very true. timelord81r - You're not going in August by any chance? To another...fan gathering?
  7. I want to thank everyone who has replied to my question, which was asked in, I felt, a genial way and as a long time supporter of Showmasters. It is unfortunate then that it was one of Showmasters own crew who had to ridicule my point with sarcasm, while at the same time being rude to someone who has spent a very large amount of money supporting them in the past. As you said yourself, Too Tall, the point had already been well made and your point would have been clear without it. I always enjoy reading thoughtful and considered debate on this message board; it is not always to be found. I demand it of myself and expect it (however naively) of others. I am very disappointed with this reply.
  8. My decision not to go to this show is being tested more and more!! I sense a change of plans...
  9. With new names being suggested in the Poll (Stan Lee, Ian Holm, etc), I was wondering if SM have a cut-off point for guest announcements. Although I appreciate SM's attempts to get great guests (and they've always been able to do that), the difficulty arises when a great guest is announced very close to the event itself. Arranging cover for work, sorting out travel plans, especially when a flight is involved, getting accommodation that isn't too dear (never easy in London during the summer) - it can all be difficult enough, even with a lot of advance notice. If, purely for example, Stan Lee were to be announced for LFCC with only a week to go, it would be incredibly difficult to arrange a trip at such short notice (although I live across the Irish Sea, I've tried to attend many SM events over the years and have made it to most Collectormania's since number 4). While I, along with everyone, want SM to continue to search for great guests, having a last minute announcement can create difficulties, not only from an attendees point but also from an advertising one, getting word out there about a guests appearance. Anyway, just my few thoughts. Keep up the great work!
  10. Jason, can you say why these 6 guests are mentioned? Have you put out feelers to these in particular? Are there any guests who might be available for signings who you would like to gauge interest in who would cost over £60, like the Autographica guests who are sometimes over £100? I know we're talking about rare guests here; one big, rare guest a year might be possible.
  11. Well, since Saturday is the only day I could, perhaps, maybe be there, I would vote 'yes'. Actually, this would be one things that might decide my attendance.
  12. Duck Soup Field of Dreams Grosse Pointe Blank Broadcast News Singin' in the Rain The Bishop's Wife Annie Hall Jaws LA Confidential Star Trek By the way, HP101 - Deathly Hallows, part 2? I admire your loyalty but surely wait till the film comes out.
  13. So, that'll be £50 for Daniel Radcliffe, £80 for Al Pacino and £100 for Steven Spielberg.
  14. Mark Hamill would be fantastic as I already have George Lucas, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher and I would love to complete the set. That's the problem with autographs; when you start a new group you've got to get them all!!
  15. I would happily pay £100 for an in-person Stan Lee autograph, but please don't get him for LFCC - I can't make it!!! One of the autumn shows please!! (I know, I'm being selfish, but this is Stan Lee we're talking about!!)
  16. In fairness, that was always going to be a small event. I'm talking about a major event, backed by the studio that could be seen as a 'Thank You' to the fans for over a decade of loyalty, that would be a huge ad for the new Studio Tour, perhaps tying in with the release of the complete Harry Potter DVD/Blu-Ray box set. I remember a Star Trek TNG Con that was held in the Royal Albert Hall when Generations was released. There were no autographs, just talks from the full cast and the producer. Imagine an event with Dan, Rupert, Emma, other cast, perhaps David Heyman and maybe even Jo Rowling herself. With Warners backing, the money raised could go to charity. It could be done. Would SM be up to it though? Might be too much for them.
  17. As well as conventions, I go to some Premieres to get the real A-List people and I've only ever got one personalisation (Chris Pine from the new Star Trek, which made my year as I am, first and foremost, a Trekkie) but I have stories to go with all my other autographs that are unique and add colour to the autograph and sometimes you get a nice moment with the star, something they say to you that makes for a great memory. So personalisation isn't everything to me, it's the story around it that matters.
  18. I was actually really disappointed that there was very little Harry Potter merchandise on sale. With the last movie coming up and a lot of HP guests at the show, I thought there would have been more.
  19. My big draws for this CM were the Phelps twins, Robert Patrick and Alex Kinston and each of them was fantastic!! The twins are really chatty and friendly as was Robert, who is so warm and welcoming. I saw Alex 3 times during the day: very early on for autographs, later for the photo shoot and in the afternoon for another autograph (Gold Pass - thank you!!) and each time she was lovely. We chatted about ER, the Chelsea Flower show and her appearance on Graham Norton. Lovely woman, hope she comes back again.
  20. FRAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Goes to unpack his BSG T-Shirt)
  21. Oh Sod!! I was looking forward to filling as many pages as possible in my Harry Potter autograph book. And LFCC is out for me Oh well, there's always another time...
  22. Given that the movies are over this year and the movie sets will open at Leavesden Studios next year, thanks to Warner Bros., has anyone thought of approaching Warner Brothers to hold an Official Harry Potter convention? Paramount have been backing, with an American convention organiser, a convention each year for a while now of one of their BIG franchises (you know, the one with transporters and phasers!!). What would a Showmasters event, with the backing of Warner Brothers, be like for Harry Potter? Showmasters have been providing excellent small and medium sized cons over the past number of years with some outstanding guests but perhaps with some big studio backing a major event could be organised. Maybe even at Leavesden itself? The Harry Potter Reunion Convention!!
  23. Although I can't make this con (and it's killing me with the Gil Gerard announcement!!), I am delighted that people will get the chance to meet Richard. I met him a couple of years ago and he is a really nice guy, very chatty and interested in the fans. Nice one SM!!
