  1. I guess it depends how much of your day at the convention you want to waste/spend in a queue rather than meeting the guests.
  2. Great set of photographs a wonderful reminder of the whole weekend. Thanks for sharing
  3. I attended both Sat snd Sun arriving at roughly the same time both dsys. Sunday entrance was very much faster - on Saturday there were 4 people standing outside the doors tearing tickets before we entered the building , this was fairly slow . On Sunday however we all went straight through the outside door into the foyer and all inside doors had crew taking tickets, this worked much better and i hope it is something that is followed in future.
  4. It was great to see the shoots in Area A on Saturday being kept under control - the crew there seemed to be calling people over in a pretty strict number order when I was there and it kept things moving very well. I also just want to say that the crew member managing the Game of Thrones queues (Richard Dormer / Clive Russell / Finn Jones / Kristian Nairn) on Sunday morning was fantastic, even though it looked like she'd been thrown in the deep end. Managing four massive queues all on her own can't have been easy but she was brilliant, going up and down the queues constantly to keep them under control :)
  5. I have experienced the same last years events - printed copy appears overexposed but the actual levels on the digital copies that I purchased show that exposure is correct. This weekend, with the exception of the DS9 group shot, and Hasselhoff/KITT the prints from areas A and B again appear slightly overexposed to me, not as much as last year. I suspect when I purchase the original digital images they will be exposed correctly. I agree with you on prints from Area A looking over exposed... the problem is that this was affecting all of them as far as I could see. It wasn't something that a reshoot would fix, so it made asking for a reshoot pointless. Now it's entirely possible that it's a printing error rather than a photography area, but if that is the case it isn't really good enough. Yes, buying them from the site might well get us shots that look correct, but these are photographs we already paid for. We shouldn't really need to buy them again to get ones that look right. You might have had a better photo (most of the people who got away with it seem to have better photos than those who didn't) but I think you'll find that it wouldn't have been... how to phrase this. Welcomed? When I had my photoshoot with Peter the instructions were quite clear - no crouching, no hugging. The staff came along the line telling all of us that multiple times (and renewed their instructions when one of the people in front of us did it anyway). Better lighting might also have improved the Peter photos - in many of the standing photos that I've seen (including my own) the shadows are somewhat... strong? I don't know how to phrase it. The lower right part of the photograph ends up too dark, and people kind of meld into the shadow especially if they were wearing darker colours. I didn't have any photographs in B to comment on, but my Area C photographs turned out well - I guess either I was lucky, or I like dark photographs :) The photographer over there was excellent about checking photographs too - she caught that I'd need a reshoot for one of mine straight away, so I didn't need to check the photo myself and go around again.
  6. Was about to exchange ticket for vouchers today when told i could but someonr else came along and said no it will be refunded to card so it seems to depend on who deals with it here.
  7. That's a shame, I was looking forward to meeting him Is Roy Dotrice going to be a case of refunds or swaps?
  8. If anyone going today can ask about the missing game of thrones talk and report back that would be helpful
  9. I'm hoping they've managed to remove it by mistake when removing the Amanda and Claudia talk which was originally scheduled before it (11.15am - 12.00pm) :| Previously the Game Of Thrones talk was 12.15pm - 1.00pm, with Peter Dinklage being 1.15pm - 2.00pm
  10. I notice there are two comic stages on the plan. Are you able to tell us what or who will be appearing on them? Will there be a schedule posted?
  11. I have in my mind ( but can not currently find details online) that the car park closes a certain amout of time after event finishes. Can you confirm that they have been informed of the later finish?

    Refunds

I am not personally waiting on any refund this time but always find it difficult to understand why showmasters can find the staff to take the payments but they have no staff free/available to refund money. I have read various reasons including the one that refunds are dealt with by someone who works full time and refunds are done in her spare time. Surely a company as large as showmasters who run so many events could afford to employ paid staff to deal with important details like bookings and refunds. Many of us can not afford to just lend money to a company free of charge, once the cancellation has been anounced the refund should follow straight away, Showmasters should consider a refund as important as a booking - it matters to the majority of customers.
  13. If you have a bank statement or similar showing that money has been taken from your account i would at least mention the date it was taken. You could maybe block out other information and copy as proof. This is what I would do if I had the same problem.
  14. Will they be running the free bus ? Would that be nearby?
  15. Can you tell me where in the terms and conditions for buying a photoshoot it says you have the right to load it on to the internet ?
  16. Chris was absolutely fantastic. Managed to get a couple of things signed each day, no hassle at all, and he was really friendly. Unfortunately I didn't get to see either of his talks to completion, but what I did see of them seemed very interesting on both days. Would be lovely to see him come back again! :)
  17. That's strange. When asked about it, we were told there had been a printing error. I suppose that depends on your definition of "error"? :|
  18. Was definitely in first 40 early bird prepaid, was not offered any card and did not see any. Were they given out and if so to who?
  19. Asda have a large range of sharpies..The silver one we usually use is a 'fine' one
  20. Previously I've always received separate tickets for each day, even if buying a weekend pass. This time I've got one ticket. In this case I'm particularly concerned about the holdups it could cause during entry. Arguing with someone on the door that we have our email confirmation and no, they can't take the tickets off of us is going to cause problems. Not just for us, but for anyone behind us. Furthermore, when the bits of paper with the tickets actually say "If you do not have your tickets you will not be admitted to the event" alongside statements that "One ticket = Exchange for ONE entry" and "Tickets will only be accepted if they are complete i.e you only present half a ticket and the other half is missing you will not gain entry" it's a little worrying. Despite the one = one statement, I have one ticket for two entries, and that causes problems. If they take the ticket off me on the first day, I won't have a ticket for the second day, and I can be refused entry. If they tear the ticket on the first day, on the second day I'm not going to have a complete ticket, and I can be refused entry for that too.
  21. There are toilets in the car park next door that opens at 7am
  22. I guess a few may have been there that early,.we got there at 7am when the car park opened and there can't have been more than 20 in the queue.
  23. Estimated 10,000 people paying an extra 20p means someone somewhere is better off by £2000
  24. Wait what? Since when? The email I got on Saturday 22ndsaid the shop wasn't due to close until Saturday 29th - definitely not tomorrow. That was only four days ago. When did this change?
  25. Having seen the thread about dark photos at Glasgow, and knowing about the lighting problems this venue had during LFCC, are you able to talk about what you're doing to counter those problems so they don't pop up during EMS? :)
