  1. That part of the District Line is closed this year although as far as I am aware the overland is running normally. The Circle Line is also down for that part although Piccadilly is up and running to Earls Court.
  2. From previous experience of working there I'm 99% certain there's not.
  3. Oh I don't know - way to burn off all those calories from drinking
  4. Shame you're not coming Knitty sure we will meet one of these days!!! I'll be around the show all weekend, just not in the pub.
  5. It depends whether people bought them via the old store or eventbrite. If it's the old store then there will be physical tickets posted out but if its eventbrite then there'll be an e-ticket to print out / show on your phone to the crew. Last year (and I imagine this year is the same) you had to take photo ID with you by way of confirmation and you were then given the actual gold pass band.
  6. Pub itself is only about a five minute walk away from the venue. I'm not going to be able to make it in any event as I've already arranged dinner with friends that night (and every other night I'm in London) - the perils of having lived in London and still in contact with family and friends.
  7. Which is a very very small group of early birds only IF it happens. Unless I missed a massive camp out overnight with Stan Lee last year that part hasn't even actually happened. Don't make people worry unnecessarily. AFAIK there's no gates on the venue, that may have limited pre-queues before. Unless it's changed since I last worked a show there the only gated area is the exhibitors entrance and the gate staff won't let you in without an exhibitor pass.
  8. There's scheduled tube works that weekend and that part of District and Circle are affected but if you're coming in from the west you can get to earls court.
  9. How did you nearly miss the train back to London ? They run till 10pm or even later lol May have had a pre-booked advance ticket for that set train. I do it all the time for cheaper tickets.
  10. I imagine that there will but there's always been floor plans on display at the event itself.
  11. I can attest to that. Via work I sent four special delivery items out last year two of which were going to the self-same address just to different people. Only one of the four arrived and the other three disappeared into the ether. If anyone was hopeful of bountiful contents they'd have been very disappointed as they were Court papers lol
  12. There's also some more info in the crew topic here http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25858 I would say that crewing is not for anybody who thinks that they will be able to do nothing but spend their entire working period getting free autographs/photoshoots and chatting with the guests. I used to be responsible for a stand at craft shows and the only "perk" there was that you gained free entry as you were a volunteer. I had one volunteer who I had a text message from saying that they were unable to make it in as they were in bed with a migraine. Unfortunately they happened to stop at one of the traders who I'm good friends with and got told that person had been in and shopping. So said person had obviously come to the show, got their free entry, gone off shopping and gone home again.
  13. If go to the previous events section on the forum here (towards the bottom of the main page) you'll see some of those they've had previously to give you an idea. You get a gold pass wrist band that you wear for the three days when you get to the event so as Wrong Name says you'll probably get given vouchers then at the same time. Last year you got a pack of mixed autographed photographs and a goodie bag which you collected from the organiser's desk so its possible that you get them there instead.
  14. Guests are constantly being added so there will be a number of options when the time comes and I'm pretty sure that they can't be combined nor can you have them as £10 off a higher priced guest. I think you can only book the photoshoots for these at the event. Autographs you cannot prebook at all and just pay for at the event
  15. I can't remember which guest it was now but someone did mention on one of the other threads that Guest P was not personalising at all on that particular occasion as they'd injured themselves so as a result was only doing their autograph without dedications whereas on other occasions they were normally personalising.
  16. I'd imagine what is being said is that there will be automatic refunds after the event but if you want to obtain a refund at the show to use funds for something else then the details will be at the sales desk - not that they're saying if you want a refund the only place you can get them is at the sales desk. I'm also pretty sure that given the proxmity to the event that all SM staff will now be at the venue and not in the office to be able to commence processing refunds prior to the event.
  17. If it's not been announced on either the SM website or the forum then it is unlikely but there is still time. As with normal guests these things don't get announced until contracts have been signed.
  18. Not really there's only so many photo tickets that will have been agreed with him including the diamonds and once they're gone they're gone.
  19. Not true, QS. I work in the air conditioning industry and have done for 21 years. There is no valid reason why a fit-for-purpose, correctly sized, well maintained a/c system should have to be taken offline during a major event like LFCC. My question was really to see, given that this venue had been chosen over last LFCC's Excel, if careful consideration had been given to ther comfort of the attendees or if it was again being left to chance with no plan B available. Perhaps you could answer me a question which I do think is pertinent. Is a/c actually affected in an environment where doors/windows are constantly being opened and closed? I've heard varying accounts that it's like the inside of a fridge, only maintains core temperature if the environment is kept sealed. So, take LFCC for example, with the front and side doors constantly being opened with people coming in and out would hamper the effect A/C should have.
  20. No problems. Can't believe that they do that. I remember going to Alton Towers no later than 1998 on the log flume there and getting that pic pretty much on the spot so can't envisage not doing the same at this sort of show.
  21. As Andrewrolar has said you get it within seconds of it being taken. Essentially, you queue up, go into the area, leave your bags on table being manned with crew, carry on walking along in the queue, go in next to the guest, have the pic taken, walk out of shot and round to the front of the table that has the printer on, collect pic and your bags, leave the area. A few weeks after the event SM release the pictures to buy electronic versions of.
  22. There is at least one car park right next to Olympia - I think you may have to pre-purchase parking though. If you pop onto the venue's website there'll probably be some more information there.
  23. There is also nothing to say that you have to get a table photograph autographed; you can get just merchandise autographed.
