  1. As usual, so many of these paid (I can't say "professional") photoshoots exhibit poor composition.
  2. <few minor tweaks> ... but if I was organizing this and taking money for it (and making a profit), I should never do ANY of the things people have complained about in the first place, let alone fail to learn and correct things after years of practice. A person with a DSLR is not automatically a photographer and it sounds like a person with a microphone and speakers isn't a sound technician either, whether they are paid or not.
  3. One thing against Boots - Sharpies are not instantly dry on the silky paper they use. They can easily be smudged for two or three seconds after signing. A matt paper or traditional glossy would be better for "our" purposes.
  4. So the "Talk Only" which was stressed so much wasn't just a talk? Could have got a lot more people in to the show today!
  5. Good job I asked or else you would have had pictures of a pretty tattooed girl on Friday! Have you run the card through some recovery software?
  6. So you would sooner have someone whose only claim to being professional is that he is being paid, rather than a fully-trained, long-standing establishment which is part of a nationwide company? I can't see why although I might well recommend Snappy Snaps above Boots, based on my personal experiences. In any case, they will have many more checks and backups built into their daily routines than anyone running an intermittent operation. I would also recommend anyone running this type of event to get a trained photographer rather than a "paid" photographer as their "professional" in order to eliminate problems at the shooting stage.
  7. Anything distinctive about you? Which day(s)?
  8. But relying on volunteers to do a day's work and then proclaiming to the world that you are short of them with a few days to go really shows what is wrong with the whole public side of things. I should be ashamed, not apologetic if I did not get the basics right after so many years' experience, especially considering the massive turnover of cash.
  9. Sorry, I am not even sure what exactly happened,. Thanks for the apology but it would have been so easy for organisers to tell us in advance that prepaid would queue to the right from the right hand side and pay-on-the-day similarly left. Large, clear on-site signage would also help! Signs at head height or below will always be covered and signs that say "in this direction" without arrows are ambiguous. Organisers need to look from our side of the fence occasionally.
  10. But after this many events, why did it ever happen?
  11. Apparently, it's buses tomorrow and it's King's Cross, not where I said. Any chance you can drive to a station that has a better connection? It says your first bus would take two hours to get to Hitchin.
  12. Why not go to Liverpool Street and use the tube?
  13. ...and didn't she give the impression she was half her true age? Told me she hadn't eaten any rats in quite a while as well.
  14. Yesterday (Friday), I came out of the station and saw roughly where the entrance was, with a queue going along to the right and round the corner. I joined the end and asked if it was for LFCC. I was told "yes" and might have left it at that but with two of us, I was able to leave my daughter in the queue and go to the head and check. I found a steward who informed me that the right hand queue was for ticketholders and there was another one going to the left for "pay on the day". HOW EASY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FOR STAFF TO POST THIS INFORMATION IN ADVANCE!!! As the queue moved in, we saw some A3 notices behind people's heads and in the smoke shack (!) saying "Queue this way" without any direction indicated. Nonetheless, inside, it was a good atmosphere - busy and relaxed and the stars were great.
  15. Where does it say this? He isn't on the website yet and "Guest Days & Prices" has not been updated. BTW, how difficult would it be for the staff to co-ordinate these two lists with new announcements?
  16. OK, thanks etmuse.
  17. On a related point, though, I asked for a Lena Headey VT as soon as I arrived. It was given and was much higher than currently allowed in the queue but the crew member said I could go straight in if I liked. As the physical queue was down to about ten people at that point, wasn't that the right thing for her to do? Theoretically, it prevents one more person from joining but as they weren't there, It keeps the pot boiling and satisfies the paying customer.
  18. GA = what please? OK, I may have missed the sign with Roxanne (looking at the lady, not the wall) but what was the reason for it? I was told "because she had done a photoshoot earlier". That however makes no sense. Firstly, other guests had done photoshoots and were happily doing anything you liked at the table. Secondly, I was at the show all day on Saturday, so had no energy to attend until late on Sunday - long after the photoshoots had been done. I seriously doubt that there would be a single paying customer at the shoot who would complain about me taking a photo (without me in it) at 4.30 on Sunday. The photoshoot for people in the studio and the over-the-table snap of an actress are very different things. I think there must have been a different reason which I would accept if it were told honestly.
  19. Agreed - consistency is only fair and should be stressed during crew training. Roxanne McKee chatted happily with me late on Sunday but when I asked politely for a photo of her, I was told by the crew member in no uncertain terms that it was prohibited "because" she had done a photo shoot earlier in the day. Yards away, nice people who had also done photo shoots were beckoning visitors to their desks to get the photos they obviously wanted! It's worse because the whole point to me was to have taken the star's photo myself, not even to have been in the photo :-( By the way, minutes later, the crew member was sitting alongside Roxanne having their photo taken by somebody else on their side of the table.
  20. It might not have been SM fault that half the car park was missing but they could have had the honesty to flag it on the forum so that people were prepared.
  21. Yep, that was me For those of us who do not know the Bard, it would be nice to learn why a Shakespearean character would be wearing a Superman shirt and why he might be daubed in Calamine Lotion. I saw you but had not a clue that you were cosplaying!
