you're entitled to your opinion of course, I think it's very bad business practice...later in the year would have been fine, but the week before feels like a kick in the teeth to me, sorry but that's how I feel

The week before is better for us.  They already have flights, therefore Showmasters save money, therefore that's money they can spend on more and/or better guests. I'm not complaining. It doesn't impact Eclipse in the slightest.

I guess I'm more annoyed on behalf of eveyone else. I'm pretty sure there is a large proportion of people coming to Eclipse who aren't going for the convention atmosphere, they're coming for their autographs and photos, and maybe the talks, all of which they could get cheaper at Gmex. I just think a bigger gap between the 2 events would have been more sensible. I'm not saying they shouldn't get them for other events at all. And I realize they're doing it because those guests are coming anyway, so if they can get them at 2 events and make more money off them, then they will. Doesn't make it right.

I've expressed my feelings, I'll leave it at that now I think.

i am coming to eclipse mainly for the signatures. I bought tickets as i didnt want to miss a chance of meeting somone who might not be back for years. I'm not mad about this annoucement more just in shock that i spent all my money on eclipse when a ticket to manchester would have done.

If they are doing that, they're doing it for the wrong reasons.   Going to Eclipse for JUST autographs and nothing else is like paying to go to the cinema to watch the trailers and then leave, then complaining that the cinema is ripping you off because the trailer was shown on TV too. They spent the money and took the chance on something like that, they can't really complain.

I wasn't going to say anything else, but you're being silly now. You can't compare 2 of the 5 guests at the convention to a trailer...they're the feature film not the bit beforehand!

Yes, I can, because you're not getting the point.

Signing event = autograph

Weekend convention = autograph, interaction between the guests, interaction between YOU and the guests, photo shoots, long talks, dedicated atmosphere, dedicated dealers tables, parties that the guests may attend, and a dedicated cocktail party with the guests if you're a gold pass holder, better environment, and much more. THAT is what you're paying for.

If you paid for something that by and large you don't want, you are at fault, not Showmasters. Anyone who wanted what they have paid for will not be affected by this because they will still want to go. The only ones bothered by it are the ones who either don't understand what a weekend convention is, or understand what one is and decided to waste their money regardless.

When I first saw the announcement of these two for Manchester(despite being happy as I can't make Eclipse) my first reaction was that I feel for the attendees of Eclipse a little, as if it were me, id feel a bit ripped off.

However as Psychosis has rightly pointed out, you're paying the extra money for the convention itself, not for autographs. There's a LOT to a convention, not just autographs. If you were a fan of the show, you'd love the convention no matter what, and appreciate being at a weekend event dedicated to the show that you love.

Unfortunately, a lot of people do go to cons just for autographs and a photo or something. And if you have payed all your money for a gold ticket and all you want is an autograph and a photo, then you may want to rethink your priorities. It stands to reason that theres a good chance that none of these people are once in a lifetime guests. Jeez the show only started on tv about 6 months ago and pretty much the entire cast have done SM events

Most wanted guests:

Mr. T - Matt Smith - Ian McDiarmid - Ian Holm - Sean Bean - Peter Cullen - Frank Welker - David McCallum - Joanna Lumley - Christopher Lee - Ian McKellen - Jodelle Ferland(for a SIGNING event)

R.I.P Nicholas Courtney - The kindest man I ever had the pleasure to meet

I have no problem with the guests appearing at other events, just the fact that they're appearing the week before Eclipse.

When would be better? The week before Eclipse, they are HERE.  They're available. They might not be available again. Then because they already have a flight (and someone like Hayden will be going first class, I'm sure) that's money saved that can go on another guest (unless they're putting them in some seriously expensive hotel), while probably making more money off them at G-Mex, even using Hayden's draw to keep up GMex's popularity, which means profit, which means more guests. I have no problem with that.

Since she has already done a SM event this year , why moan since Eclipse wasnt gong to be her first UK event anyway.
Eclipse is completely different from a signing.
I think the whole concept of going to a convention is missed on some people

ah yes i know its unlikely that these 2 will not attend again, but truth is you never know. Esp these two because with Hayden starting a music career and no doubt will get lots more movie roles, the bigger she gets the less likely she is to attend. Also with Noah being so young i didnt know how often he would be allowed to do these things.

I see your point, but I actually think the opposite. The older Noah gets, I see him doing more events. And as for Hayden, she's shown more interest in these kind of events than anyone from Heroes, and although I do think everyone should make the most of each guest anytime they're announced, I don't see her stopping doing these events anytime soon. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of her

i didnt know she had shown alot of intrest. thats good news tho (altho i now realise 3 cons in a year is alot of intrest). I had actually heard the opposite, i heard she didnt enjoy lfcc.

At least MK is a couple of months away from Eclipse, so I wouldn't be quite so irritated by these announcements.

I feel like I'm being ganged up on here, which is unfair, I'm just expressing my opinion which I believe is valid.

And we're just expressing ours. Yours just happens to be the minority opinion (so far).

Ahh, they get Patrick Stewart! It can't be a matter of how big they are or how busy they are. If they can get Patrick Stewart, Hayden's always going to be a possibility until she a) gets bored or ;) starts charging incredibly inflated amounts.

Oh im not out to pick on you believe me. Just trying to understand where your coming from. I don't really see the importance of when they're coming to an event, whether its a week before Eclipse, or 5 months after it. You're going to meet them and are attending a great looking convention, I envy you.

Im going to Lockdown, but if they were to announce Henry Ian Cusick and Andrew Divoff for MK I wouldnt be bothered in the slightest
