confused
Please could someone explain what actually happens at these conventions? The website doesn't go into much detail. From what I can see, there's: Stalls (excellent) Talks (could be good) Photographs and autographs (doesn't interest me at all) I'm sure there must be lots of other stuff happening, but what?! Thank you!
Moderators DavidB Posted July 25, 2007 Moderators Share Posted July 25, 2007 Well the basis of these events is primarily autograph signings, so it's a shame that doesn't interest you. Yes, there's a variety of stalls, talks to see, costume exhibits, usually a vehicle or two from movies and perhaps some props, cosplayers, comic artists .. there's still plenty of time for other stuff to be added too - some video games maybe, card games, whatever else .. Was there anything in particular you may be interested in seeing at the event?

confused
Was there anything in particular you may be interested in seeing at the event? The props and exhibits sound good The only similar things I've been to are the REMOVED, both at Excel. I enjoyed the demonstrations they had of martial arts, drumming and sushi making! Will this have anything like that? They also had lots of screenings of films and various series as well as computer games and competitions. I understand a lot of people enjoy collecting autographs and meeting the guests but for me I'd rather spend the money on more comics and dvds! EDIT - Please be aware it is against forum rules to name any event or organisation not affiliated with Showmasters. Moderators DavidB Posted July 25, 2007 Moderators Share Posted July 25, 2007 We can't talk about other events on here, so if you could edit that part out, that'd be great thank you Those events are very different now to something like LFACC, so you're unlikely to find the same things - similar sure, but not exactly. There are usually comics and dvds etc though, I always spend too much

The focus of the event (and all Showmasters events for that matter) is autograph signings, that's what people primarily come for, to meet the stars. Everything else is a bonus. As has been said, there are lots of stalls selling film/tv/comic merchandise, and sometimes we get talks, but not always and photoshoots are a new addition (almost wrote addiction lol). As for demonstrations, up until now there hasnt been anything like that, that's not what this event is about, I think they mainly happen at more specialised events and conventions. So, if you collect comics, then you will find stalls selling them and it seems there are some comic artists now coming, but if you are interested in buying dvds then I honestly wouldn't suggest looking for them here (unless they're particularly rare or niche) as I've found most dvds at these events are highly overpriced. There's this tournament: http://www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com/tourn...tournament.html Does this count as Martial Arts? Competitons and such may be held at the stalls too, there's nothing been announced yet by Showmasters. And if I recall correctly there was a stall exhibiting computer games last year as well. antderviso
that sounds great. last time I went to such an event (in July. You know which one) I ended up spending all of my money and wasn't able to buy some of the things i wanted. So this is good news fo me.
gregmss
To the OP, it doesnt really matter if you are not into the guests, the stalls are worth it as are the displays. I dont usually see a guest but I still spend the whole day cruising the stalls with my friends, it is a great day out. Also the talks are great fun.
