After the spate of cancellations thats hit Collectormania 9 and the guests at Autographica being shall we say, specialist areas, im now putting all my money into LFCC. Cant wait for this event. Just try and keep the big 3 guests. (im sure you would anyway)

It seems that there are certain guests who seem to cancel more than others and suprisingly some of them you wouldnt expect to be that as busy as some who do show.

You can never tell I suppose. When showmasters say they cant announce a guest until its sealed and the contract is signed, does that mean it has a clause to say they dont have to appear if a job comes up? Just interested........

Always good to go on imdb and check what they have in the pipeline. If there's something there, then it's possible they might cancel. The more there is in the pipeline the more the possibility of cancelling.

i checked out Dreyfuss and Fisher and they seem free of work committments at moment but Elijah is in filming....... :D

Hmm, which Fisher did you check out? :headscratch:

To me it seems she (like Elijah Wood) have one movie in Post Production and one movie Filming. Both of which can be subject to additional filming if she is even done with the one where they are still filming.

Off couse I hope that neither Fisher nor Wood cancels, but we can never know - untill the day is up.praying6vr.gif

I've been saving all my money for LFCC anyway. Originally there was only one guest I'd really liked to have seen at CM. Ian Somerhalder, but he cancelled. 7 Guests for me so far at LFCC. Infact I was quite relieved when he cancelled, as I'm unable to make it to CM9. Atleast he'll be back in the near future hopefully, where as if he did do CM9 it would be a while before he came back again.

all guests appear subject to work committements... and I'm sure if you read the FAQs it will tell you that and if says it on all the SM websites :(

generally if a guest has signed a contract to appear, at the time theur schedule allows them to do so even if they are involved in a project - as with all the guest cancellations for C9, it's NEW committments that [usually] prevent a guest from turning up

we all know that actually............

but its a fact that a lot of guests have pulled out of Collectormania 9 and some people are gutted and therefore no longer attending. We just hope the same doesnt happen at LFCC with the big guests already announced.

The contracts that showmasters have with a celeb dont seem to be worth much committment at all if they have such get out clauses. To have it written in a contract that even 1 week before an event it is still ok to pull out, shows nievity and maybe contracts should be revised with a time cut off limit as it messes everyone around to do it at such short notice. Just a thought..............

I've already spent/going to spend enough on this, between my passport and booking the plane, so if the ones I wanna see back out, I'm gonna be super pissed... In the end there's nothing at all I can do about it, but I really, really hope that no one backs out, not just the ones I wanna see, but anyone at all, because there is someone for everyone.

Of couse it would be nice for us, if the guests would sign a binding contract, that would prevent them from canceling with only 1 or 2 weeks to the event.

But i am affraid, that such a contract would make some potentiel guests resign from ever getting in to that particular event in fear that they might have to give up a job opportunity.

After all, conventions are only secondary to them.

From what i've heard Carrie Fisher never agrees to attend an event unless she is free to go as she hates to cancel and has never cancelled from an event if i remember rightly

Carrie i reckon will be fine commitment wise

Elijah i am not too sure as he is busy doingq uite a few films and quite possibily has to pospone his appearance although i hope he doesn't

Dreyfeus to be honest i am not too bothered about. Apparently he is only going n Saturday anyway which might not be a good sign as he might feel it's not worth the travel for one days signing

Lets hope they can all appear

it would be frustrating for you to book all that and not meet the guests you want. This is what I mean there has to be something put in place to prevent people from pulling out at such late stages, after all Collectormania is a work committment also isnt it?! :poki: Just seems like some are not really bothered if they attend or not and with a week notice thats a bit unfair. I doubt very much if all that have cancelled with a week to go have suddenly had film offers and begun filming already.....takes a hell of a lot longer than that.....

rich5wolves, I would just like to say, that I absolutely agree with you. I too would prefer if a commitment to a convention meant for sure, that the guest would attend.praying6vr.gif

I am coming to this event, which will be my first UK event. And like Rising Phoenix I have had to renew my passport. And between passport, airplane ticket, hotel (for a week though, as I am staying in town after the con) and a Gold Pass it has set me back £900+ already. And all because I wanna meet Carrie Fisher (so I hear you lee_c00per, and I like what you say ^_^ )

But still I am totally clear about the fact, that she might cancel. But even so, I will still be meeting 10-15 other guests (or so I expect. Can't know for sure yet  ).

And on top of that, I will (hopefully) have a nice trip to London and get to see some of the town.

And I also don't think that they would have a film offer and begun filming all within a week. But I do believe they could be offered a casting session to be scheduled within a week. :poki:

Yeah, there's always that cancellation possibility at the back of your mind, but if we kept concentrating on who might cancel, then I'd probably never go... I just hope that no one cancels, especially for £900+ that's just... holy crap... I'm tryin to keep my expenditure to the minimum, and I hope nothing goes wrong, and I realy hope Murphy's Law has nothing to say about it.

So how are you going to do that, without SM getting guests to sign contracts so binding/restrictive that most of them will never sign in the first place?

I had a friend who was a doctor, and was also in a band. People accepted that occasionally he would have to miss a rehearsal or a gig if they had a big rush in A&E surgery (which was his primary work commitment).

Just seems like some are not really bothered if they attend or not and with a week notice thats a bit unfair. I doubt very much if all that have cancelled with a week to go have suddenly had film offers and begun filming already.....takes a hell of a lot longer than that.....

You're either accusing some of the recent cancellees of being liars, or not considering all the facts, I'm not sure which. Bear in mind that most of these guests were announced weeks, if not months, ago. There is plenty of time between them originally signing SM contracts (which would have been even longer ago than their SM announcement) and now for a new project to have come up, or even for an existing one to have been rescheduled. I would strongly suspect that in those cases, the guest or their manager will have been trying to juggle the two commitments ("well couldn't you shoot all the scenes without him that weekend, or at least do some other stuff that means he wouldn't be needed on set Saturday so he can do this signing thing?") and it is only at the last minute (relatively), as it has become impossible to square the circle, that they have had to cancel. Sure, it's annoying, but if they had all cancelled say 5 weeks ago when their scheduling conflicts first appeared, no doubt we'd have had oodles of posts complaining that they had weeks to work out a solution but instead have just cancelled straightaway because they don't really care and don't want to come...

Or are you actually saying that some of these people are lying when they say they now have work commitments? If so, please name names, as I'm intrigued. (I presume that you will of course have suitable evidence of their mendacious behaviour to defend yourself with when these allegedly-lying cancelled guests take you to court for libel. )

Yeah, we don't want Murphy's law to apply here. :D

As for the ammount spendt, then it could easily have been done cheaper, but I like a little comfort, so I just have to pay the price. Still, for what I am getting, then I am happy about the price.

But most of all I am exited about this event. Fisher or not, this will, by far, be the biggest event I have been to. And I am very much looking forward to going there.:clap:

Tommy T - have you ever thought that maybe it would be better to sign up those guests that are seriously committed to turn up in the first place as opposed to those who would not commit themselves and hence later drop out...?

Restricting the event to celebs that are definately coming may not be a bad thing

|Tommy T, I think the original poster didn't mean to accuse anyone, but I think that some guests may or may not have a very lax attitude toward these things... kinda like, "Hey mr. Big, would you like to do a signing at London Film and Comic Con" and they might just say "Yeah sure, what the hell" and not give it any more thought, and just realise that they may have something else on or just don't want to do it... I'm in no way saying that, this is how things work, but just that, that might be an attitude that may appear from some people... I don't know if that makes sense to you, but it makes sense in my head.
