Scorch
So without having to read through all the pages, where is the meet to be held??????????????????????????? A lotta peeps have mentioned the Ibis bar, but I'm not sure if that's definitely the meetage place. I suggested we all cram into said bar and go from there. Read the first post Or the mentioned pub is the place of meetage!! Edited June 14, 2005 by Scorch
Showmasters Admin Too Tall Posted June 14, 2005 Author Showmasters Admin Share Posted June 14, 2005 (edited) If people want to meet up in the Ibis bar and then go over that's great. I just can't guarantee what time I'll be back from crewing. All I can say is that I will leave via the Ibis bar, if anyone (everyone) is there just say hi and we'll go over together. But don't wait for me as I maybe later than 8pm. I guess we could just stay in the Ibis bar but 1: It'll probably be a bit small for all of us, 2: It'll be pretty expensive (hotel bars normally are). So I say the pub is a better idea. Edited June 14, 2005 by Too Tall

Dom
Guys we need to get a rough idea of numbers. Im not sure what the rules are at the bar so somebody should ask. They will usually not allow large groups in to a liscened premises.

Basically it will be up to the door staff at the venue. If there are no door staff it falls to the bar staff. You can`t get done for going into the venue it is only the people giving you drinks that get it. If you get in and keep yourself in order you should be ok

I wouldn't have thought this was an issue as we are not all going in at the same time are we?I'm just going from my hotel (not the Ibis)at around the meet up time & would assume a number of people are doing the same. Well I don't drink, so I'll behave I'd extend that to not making an exhibition of yourself by dancing and playing air guitar either, if it's a reasonably sedate or "static" crowd in the pub, otherwise some grumpy old git might start complaining about the place being full of "bloody kids". That said, if the place is full of people making an exhibition of themselves by dancing and playing air guitar, then feel a little freer - when in Rome and all that... I'm personally of the opinion that pubs are for talking and socialising (and drinking!) and meeting old friends and making new ones, and that people who want to dance should push off to a club, but I know that seems to be a dying idea. There are far too many pubs where the music is too loud (and, dare I say, crap) to allow any of the traditional pub activities except drinking - if i go out for a drink and a chat and a laugh with my mates, I prefer not to have to shout all night to overcome 120dB of the crap they call modern r'n'b. Which is fine, I don't have to go to such establishments, so I don't. Whoops, that was a bit of advice that turned into a rant, wasn't it? Sorry about that. I'm just messing about (most of the time ) with my dancing and air guitaring I'm actually quite shy, so I wouldn't unless other people did. And even then, I'd need a shove (Pst - don't tell anyone - I have a reputation to uphold, you know...)! Like you say, "when in rome". I also totally agree with you on the music part - "RnB" is mainly crud (no offence to fans of the music intended, of course) - lolz. Pubs, again, I'm not really used to (Or clubs! I don't get out much ), so I wouldn't know what they were like... We'll have to see what the atmosphere is like, of course. Chances are that I'll just go with the flow, though, so no panicking on the me being a mental case part - tehe! I'll behave if everyone else does Ps. It's kwl. "Ranting" needs to be done once in a millenia. It's good for you! Edited June 14, 2005 by Cher2a
