Strider Posted December 14, 2004 Share Posted December 14, 2004 Orlando Bloom auditioned for Faramir Stuart Townsend, (Dorian Gray - League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), had the part of Aragorn, but was replaced, (by Viggo), after 4 days due to 'creative differences' It's rumoured David Bowie was keen on playing Elrond Daniel Day-Lewis turned down the part of Aragorn John Rhys-Davies auditioned for the role of Denethor John Noble auditioned for Saruman, but wasn't tall enough Eowyn was given to Irish actress Alison Doody, who had to turn the part down because she had just given birth to a daughter. That would just be wrong. I heard that Peter Jackson wanted someone who looke dolder for Aragorn and realised this within a few days of filming, and that who he had cast already in the role looked too young.
