  1. the air con was working 100% all day every day the thing is in the UK the air con is not that good as there is only about two weeks a year they need it so its never that amazing , there are a lot of you at the event we were light clothing and that seems to work , i myself had to get around a lot and walked over 48 miles over the 4 days but heat was not the issue for me so thinking about what you are going to wear is important unless you are in costume then its a labor of love :-) jason Have to agree with you on this one. It is July so you now it will be quite hot. I attended all three days in shorts and t-shirt and had two bottles of water with me. With the amount of people inside Olympia the air conditioning will have little effect with everyone in close proximity to one another. For the record I was wearing shorts and t-shirt and only carrying a bag with a folder in it so I did travel as lightly as possible. Thanks for the response though, i do appreciate a personal reply.
  2. Photo area C which was right next to the dealers hall was pretty bad. Saturday afternoon Jason David Frank shoot was packed, I got there about twenty minutes before it started and the queue was already very long. The crew member was shouting instructions which were impossible to hear and the constant flow of people at the merchandise stalls made it a very uncomfortable experience. I was batch 1 so when I did get into the queue which was crammed into the taped off area I saw several people with different batch numbers ahead of me, none of whom had been called as far as I could tell. It seemed like a bit of a free for all. I don't want to give the impression I am just complaining though so a special mention to the chap running Photo area B on Saturday morning for the Bill Paxton shoot. He had it perfectly organised, was very friendly and I didn't feel wedged in at all even though there were lots of people present. He definitely deserves recognition for a sterling job.
  3. It was working all weekend, much more noticeable than Earls Court, you could see the large banners in the main Hall downstairs moving in the 'breeze' - and it did more to keep things cool than last year, but there is a limit to what any system can cope with in a large venue (short of having your own Nuclear Reactor on hand) The main guest signing area on level 1 it was definitely not working and the roped off area with water dripping from the ceiling was I believe (having had some experience working in technical environments) a sign of damage to the system. The size of the venue should have a system in place to cope with the demand, as I said I have had experience and used to work in a shopping mall and that had a consistent temperature throughout. Level 3 it was working perfectly and this is how it should have been across all floors.
  4. I know its not Showmasters fault but I hope the venue has functioning air conditioning next year! After the sweatpit of Earls Court last year I was hoping for a slightly cooler event. Perhaps an arrangement can be made that venue staff must run a thorough check to show this is working and they present it to Showmasters leading up to the event.
  5. There was a thread started on here by someone who had a Game of Thrones character as their profile picture (I know that hardly narrows it down), I wrote a long(ish) piece on that thread about my weekend and I presented my disappointments and frustrations in a calm way with no ranting or melodrama. The thread itself vanished entirely the day after but I did some other posts on there before it went by people who flew off the handle. I hope my comments did not contribute to that thread being deleted.
  6. Great photos everyone. Did anyone get good photos of the Power Rangers talk? I was sitting a bit far back to get a good photo.
  7. I would like to give a special mention to Erin Cahill, one of the friendliest people I have ever met. While we queued for her shoot on Saturday she came out and walked the line saying hi to everyone. She remembered me on Sunday when I went back for her autograph and was happy to chat away and seemed genuinely appreciative of meeting people. Humble and lovely, superb guest.
  8. Does anyone have decent photos from the Power Rangers talk? I Was sitting a bit far back to get any. Thanks :)
  9. The guy running the Bill Paxton shoot on Saturday morning was superb. He kept it all flowing and had the organisation down perfectly.
  10. That's good to know, thanks for the information buddy. I'm not prone to being melodramatic but a few times over the years have had issues with venue staff not having a clue (as I said Earl's Court last year was a particular problem) so its a relief to know things are better when I arrive at 7.10am bleary eyed and worse for wear!
  11. Will there be crew present outside tomorrow morning to help with queue management? Venue staff have been an issue in the past (got a horror story from Earl's Court last year) and I have asked the question a few times about crew being outside to work alongside them but haven't had a definitive answer.
  12. Can you show the crew the e-mail on your phone? Can't imagine them having a problem with that.
  13. The Sales desk is straight ahead once you come in the main entrance
  14. No way can it be as hot as Saturday last year! Well i hope it isn't. As I mentioned on another thread just now, can of deodorant is in my con bag! Thanks in advance Showmasters, see you on Saturday.
  15. I always bring deodorant, a refresh of that during the day makes the crowding and heat a tiny bit more bearable.
  16. Another recommendation here fro Frank's Autographs. Their products are superb and their staff incredibly knowledgeable. Get your plastic wallets from them.
  17. Have a can of deodrant, little bottle of anti bacterial handwash and bottles of water. I'm good to go And all the stuff to get signed of course.
  18. Having just printed my shoot tickets out it's all starting to feel a bit more real now!
  19. I can appreciate the no hand shakes thing, convention lurgy is always a possibility. From my point of view I just try and approach in the most casual manner and let the female guest take the lead if they want to put arms around in shoots and stuff. Plus I make sure I have refreshed my deodorant (lets be honest it gets pretty fruity at anything like this) before I go into a shoot.
  20. You can go to the earlier session with a batch 2 as above. Thanks Chief
  21. I have Catherine Tate Batch 2, will that be for only for her second session at 14.30 or a chance I can go to her earlier one?
  22. I've asked about tensa barriers on this forum a million times. Never been given an answer. Venues the size of Olympia must have them or something similar. The tape on the floor system is antiquated and really needs replacing. Last year (I know different venue but bear with me) and people were sitting on the floor in the queue areas for shoots and walking though the queues too. Barriers would have cut all of that out.
  23. I have met Yaya Han and she was great, really friendly and nice to chat with.
  24. Don't forget a little can of deodorant for your bag. Lets be honest when in a confined space with thousands of nerds freshening up every so often is essential. A small bottle of anti bacterial handwash is also a good idea.
