  1. You need to check with your airline to be sure - whilst there are international regulations, some airlines hae extras on top. And definitely hold not hand
  2. I'm 'lucky' in that I've lived abroad and had that issue (the police stopping you and the panic of 'where's my ID?!') so I find it weird that we don't have it here, even weirder that I'm physically stopped from getting one whilst a Canadian friend who lived here had to have one! For anyone umming and ahhing over the logistics of getting to Frankfurt (not costs, just ease), I found it easier to get to the main station and onwards from there without a word of German than I find getting from A-B in the UK sometimes. And the most fun I've ever had at conventions has been in Germany, so go if you possibly can :)
  3. Are you sure about that? Sorry for the weird question. The UK lets me enter the country with my German ID card ("Personalausweis") fine. It does seem a little odd that Germany would refuse UK citizens to enter with a similar ID card. Don't forget that most UK citizens don't have ID cards QS - in fact, when I attempted to get one I was told that I couldn't as I was British and I had a passport Driving licences aren't machine readable as far as I know, so I'm reasonably sure you'd need a passport for Germany. I caertainly have every time, as the UK has never offered a viable alternative
  4. I might go now - provided I can find a decent Syriana pic to get signed :)
  5. The cheapest train tickets are put on sale 6 weeks before the date you want them for, so you still have 4 weeks until they are out.
  6. I love Peter Dinklage but no, not a 'show maker' as a lot of his work has been in more minor fandoms/genres. He's also appeared at quite a few cons, so I think this is semantics rather than facts (he's done panels, but possibly not signed). Still, I shall be there
  7. Yes, that would be the minimum. A programme incuding the shoots is better value once you start wanting more than a couple
  8. You have to upload the photo to photobucket or similar and then post the link. You've tried to post a link in your second post but it's to a whole page not one post, and I can't see any Anthony Head pictures there. What is the post number?
  9. It wasn't affiliated in the form it was going to happen. If what Jason has said hapens, the one next year will be affiliated; the lack of affiliation is what ultimately sees to have stopped this going ahead. In other words, old website, new plan
  10. There wasn't a convention code as such, it was the standard call the Park Inn and say you were going to the event, they'd charge you the agreed rate.
  11. Thanks all :) It's early planning for the Moonwalk next year, and the ridiculous outfit I have to wear!
  12. I'm suffering with flu so my brain power is limited - who would you say are the most iconic/recognisable characters when you think of the words 'female' and 'space' together? I can't get past the women of Star Trek or Star Wars
  13. http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index.php?showforum=270 That's the thread for 2013 with the details of the venue etc
  14. http://showmastersonline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77737 Discussed there, 4 or 5 threads down
  15. No, unless the other company are insisting on it Showmasters don't offer electronic versions of photoshoots
  16. Except that it was one of the photos provided to be signed by Showmasters, so you'd have hoped she wouldn't have made the decision to scrawl all over his face whilst grimacing...
  17. Just don't hand her a picture of her and Robert Beltran to sign - I did, and let's just say I can't get a second signature on it!
  18. Discussing fishing trawlers, wedding dress history and hotel 'adult' channels with Bernard Hill :)
  19. Most venues demand that their own staff control anything exterior to the venue itself, and until they totally screw it up SM normally have to let them, it's not a case of learning lessons, it's probably in the contract. I meant the queues being handled solely by venue staff and SM staff being conspicuous by their asence. I seem to remember reading things like the venue staff knew nothing and Jason came out yada yada...It was the same situation at LFaCC this year, the venue staff are being pointed at as not knowing what to do but equally, why weren't there people telling them how it worked?
  20. Ah, thanks I must have missed that. Certainly explains the big difference between Saturday and Sunday (presumably Friday's went pretty smoothly because of the much smaller volume of people). Wasn't that the 'reason' for the queue problems last year and the year before though? I didn't go, but I read loads of posts complaining that it was chaos because of the hall staff not having a clue - that would seem to hint that getting them involved in anything except peripheral security type queue management is asking for trouble!
  21. I missed out on Jeri personalising as I went first thing in the morning and she only started doing it later in the day. Real pity but she was still lovely and I'm very happy I met her. A couple of others didn't either, possibly because I was talking to them and forgot to ask or distracted them from asking but no real complaints as they were all great to meet anyway. I think you were misled chuck - I got Jeri's at about 9.30 and was offered a personalisation. I said no as it was on a cast shot that Robert Picardo had already written my name on, but I was definitely asked whilst my pre paid ticket was being scribbled on (and again at the desk, I think). It sucks that you wanted it and weren't offered whilst I turned it down!
  22. How many times have I heard that over the past 8 years?! There's still no reason things should be shambolic, presales of Saturday Early Birds should have been a hint that there were going to be a lot of people all turning up at roughly the same time!
  23. Oh there was pushing in, by members of this forum who are always complaining about every little thing, but coming out of the Tube and joining your mates, that's apparently fine. Even though there are 3 or 4 of you. Someone else tried tbe 'I thought this was the end' crap but seeing as 5 minutes later it was a free for all, they still probably got in before people who had waited. I've been to other events with larger queues, and they were managed properly. It's down to a lack of interest, why bother controlling them when you can stand inside and look shocked at the mob?
  24. Seems pointless to have crew going up and down the 'snaking' bit of the pre paid queue shouting "shuffle up" if the crew then disappear and people fron all points just head to the doors. I haven't been to LFaCC for a few years, there was the same problem then. There's going to be bloodshed rather than the ineffective 'That's not fair!" shouts-all it needed were a couple of crew at the bends nearest the door.
  25. Definitely complain, I got a fivers worth of stams because the lazy sod on our roud put a signed for letter through without getting a signature. I've complained at least once a month until 2 months ago - magically we have no problems now!
