  1. My husband (who did have a ticket) said it wasnt checked when he arrived - he just walked in. I think maybe having an "entrance door" and an "exit door" once the queues have gone might resolve this, although I don't know how easy that is to actually set up. the main entrance had all doors open and lots of people milling about, so crew would have struggled to manage people entering and leaving. Again, maybe having that area "out of bounds" for loitering (god i sound old) would help - so the only people in it are those either entering or exiting the event....
  2. Really? You actually perceived that as a likely possibility? Either in front of thousands of witnesses at the show itself or in broad daylight in the fairly civilised streets of West London afterwards? It's a convention for sci-fi and cult film/TV/comics, not some illegal dogfight or badger baiting. The only thing you're likely to be assaulted by is the very occasional aroma of the odd attendee with an overelaxed approach to personal hygiene. Don't underestimate people's aggression; I was at the recording of "Eurovision: Your Country Needs You" (yes I know... really LOL!) and my friends and I had been there all day and through perseverance and patience managed to secure front of stage standing positions for the final recording. We were told we would have to dance and smile for the camera and we were glad to. However, 5 minutes into the live recording three girls pushed their way to the front and elbowed me and my friends in the back and kicked us until we final gave in and let them in front of us. They never danced or smiled and the cameras had to keep stopping short of getting their sour-puss faces on the TV. Eventually I plucked up the nerve to explain they had to look like they were enjoying themselves if they wanted to stand at the front and was told "we're only here to see the Sugarbabes". When I explained the Sugarbabes had been on earlier in the day (their 'live' segment had been filmed in the afternoon) one of them pushed me, while the other kicked my friend and pulled her hair. And there was nothing the staff could do, even though they saw what was happening, as the show was going out live (live live... no 10 minute delay!) and they couldn't get to us. The girls were finally escorted out when a film clip was shown and staff could get to us. So as much as you might not necessarily get 'your head kicked in' other people can make it very awkward and painful for you if you "squeal them up" or fail to let them get their own way!! That sounds like a really horrible experience and I doubt anyone can blame you for being concerned about potential confrontation possibilities having experienced that. That said, the vast majority of people that attend conventions are amazing friendly people and won't kick off like that, so should you ever think someone is taking advantage in the future, dont be worried about speaking to a member of crew.
  3. i believe that is the same person who was with Ricky Dean Logan on the Saturday, she was great then too, proper hot too... her number is 0207... etc etc
  4. The team obviously werent prodding him enough. I have suggested getting cattle prods to get the older guests moving a bit quicker, but apparently this would cause some sort of abuse issue...
  5. I'm really sorry if you felt that crew were rude and I find it sad that this was felt by dealers and others too. I certainly don't condone rudeness of any form from anyone ever. But I, as a member of crew over the weekend and an attendee for numerous years, find a lot of these comments unfair. I'm sorry to pick on your message as this comment actually relates to a lot of what I've been reading this morning, but your bit about crew only being there because of the attendees struck a cord. A lot of us work very very hard to make these events run as smoothly as we possibly can - a lot of stuff is out of our control and we do the best we can to ensure all attendees have a good time. This is something we would want when we attend. Unfortunately, not everyone is used to dealing with crazy busy situations or maybe even people - this doesnt excuse it, but sometimes its difficult to deal with situations if you dont have a lot of experience with it and this manifests itself and comes out as rude.. As a member of crew, I do not think I am god and I don't treat people like dirt and there are many others like that who gave up their free time to volunteer for the weekend. You are right that we wouldn't be there with out the attendees, but the show wouldnt be there without the volunteers either. My back and feet hurt from a weekend of being a human doorstop and I'm beginning to think it was all totally pointless and that I should have spent the weekend in my PJs watching Battlestar Galactica.
  6. I hope I was that young lady... although there was a younger one! ;o)
  7. Thanks for starting this thread. I've crewed a few of these shows now and this one was by far one of the busiest.. it can be daunting and sometimes intimidating to have to deal with that many people. I'm not condoning rude behaviour from crew as I don't think it's hard to be nice to people, but it seems that as with most things, people seem to have been very quick to complain.. so it's nice to get some thanks. I actually met a lovely lady yesterday who wanted me to let everyone know how grateful she was to the crew for volunteering their time (which equates to around 11 hours a day for those on full days) to help the show run. I thought that was really nice.
  8. Aidan is only attending Saturday, so it will need to be then Thanks... I just saw that and went "durrrrr"...
  9. Hey Hey, Just saw a tweet about a being human photo shoot... i know it says time tbc but is there any clue to if its saturday or sunday?? Not sure if i missed that being mentioned somewhere.. cheers, Nas
  10. Its awesome... Im currently looking for someone to come and hunt down the first 1 with me.. .I think I know where it is. Join my army! Nas x
  11. Me too. Ive never watched any of those and never really wanted to. That said, Im probably missing out.
  12. once again *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
  13. opening this thread whilst at work is not a good idea... I think I may have actually gone *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE* out loud. Ooopsy.
  14. they are the best party themes I have ever seen! nice one!
  15. I DONT HAVE ANY MONEY!!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! With any luck neither will anyone else and there'll still be tickets available for when I get paid in January!!
  16. Hey There, I was that poor helper woman (although I prefer the term girl as it helps me pretend Im younger than I actually am).. In fairness to Cynthia (who was lovely), the first time you came round if I remember correctly, she hadnt turned up yet. Some mix up or another delayed her arrival. To compensate for that she had a very short lunch break and stayed with me until we were certain that everyone that had come to see her earlier in the day had returned plus some. Then she went shopping around the stalls. Apologies, it wasn't meant to come accross as a bitch or a moan. If anything it gave me some wandering about time, i probably wouldn't have done otherwise. I just felt sorry for you and your shocking young self (have i redeemed myself?) more than anything. Must have been a pain with people asking and not really having an answer to give them. Cynthia was lovely, as was everyone i met. Don't have a bad thing to say about anyone at CML. oh dont worry I didnt take it as you moaning... feel free to continue with the shocking young comments though.. possibly for the next few years. I got pretty good at telling people "i know nuthin" by the end of the weekend. Im hoping it will work at work...
  17. My only thing was that the letters F & G got mixed up on the paper plan but not on the seats themselves, so my sister whose ticket number was higher than mine was a row infront of me instead of behind. It was only a row. But its the details ya know. ;o) Nas
  18. Yeah, the guy in the NOES talk shocked me...I was thinking "What! You can't do that!" I hope someone had a word with him and threw him out or something. If that was an old guy... he did that in the Misha Collins auto queue as well. Even though he was told to wait (he didnt want to queue) he took photos while Misha was signing. I get that with some things press get certain priveliges but maybe it should be explained to these guys that we do things a certain way and we'd like them to respect that. He didnt even say who he was or who is was press for. Nas
  19. To be honest, there were only 4 seats out on stage before the talk and then Heather, Lisa, Katharine and Robert (Englund) came in, so it makes me think that perhaps he wasn't meant to be in the talk in the first place or there'd have been 5 seats. It was probably meant to be kind of a "Freddy and his female vicims" talk. Yeah, except he thought he was in the talk and had spent the entire day telling people to go see it....
  20. What I heard was, and this is all chinese whispers so not necessarily true, that they were told there were 4 guests for the talk... and they had 4 guests. Robert bless him was sat in a different area to the others, so just got missed. I assume there was no list of names, that someone was told - go get the NOES guests (x4) and they went to the big signing area and got the 4 that were there. What sucks the most is that Robert heard from a fan that there was a mix up and not from Showmasters.
  21. Hi, I was assisting Cynthia next to Robert and his assistant. We werent given a time for any of the talks and were actually waiting for someone to come and get him when we found out that the talk had already happened. I don't know whose fault it was but Roberts assistant certainly wasnt to blame and did all she could to try and find out exactly what happened. When we are with guests at desks where attendees choose autographs and pay right there, we arent able to get up and leave the tables. It makes it very hard for us to get any info without attracting other crew members attention to find out for us. Communication is the one biggest thing we need to work on for the next event!! Unfortunately it was one big mess up - why? we may never really know. Robert was understandably upset but was a total trooper and I hope this mishap doesnt prevent him from attending in the future. Nas
  22. I'd like to just say a quick thank you to everyone for their patience in Cynthias delay on Sunday and also Gareth David Lloyds delayed arrival on Saturday (I was on VT duty), its never nice having to face the public with little or no information so it's nice when you are met with patient and friendly people who don't shout. It would seem that the Delayed Guest Arrival crown was awarded to me this time around. On a side note about the whole photo thing... I dont know the reason behind it and I can't say Im particularly bothered by it. I have always taken the opportunity to have an over the table photo where possible (and have taken distant photos), but in the grand scheme of things, if Im not allowed I dont blow a gasket. I mean, there are people all over the world suffering a lot more, so this constant foot stamping that happens for stuff like this gets me a little annoyed at times. Either way, I did have to ask people not to take photos in the Torchwood/Supernatural area on Saturday even from a distance. It was one of my designated tasks. Im not a fan of asking people not to do things when I dont have a solid reason why they shouldnt, however thats what I was asked to do so I did it. I appreciate not all crew members are as chilled out when asking one person for the millionth time not to do something, but in most cases we are only doing as we are told to do and people should respect that, even if at times its not delivered in the most appropriate manner. Thats one of the great things about a forum like this, we can post feedback and hopefully impact how things are run in the future. But please dont think that crew are just power crazy monsters. A good proportion of us have attended these events for a number of years and offered to crew to help things run smoothly in the hope that other people enjoy themselves as much as we have done. Things change though as it all gets more and more popular and we all have to adapt with those changes. Now, everyone go on and be happy. Life is too freakin' short! Nas x x Ps I really didnt mean to make this an essay. Sorry.
  23. Im sure this has been thought of already, but just popping it up so hopefully the right person sees... Maybe on the weekend there should be signs about the entry fees for those ppl that had fliers but dont come to this forum... All over the doors at the front so the crew at the entrance dont get bludgoened (sp?) by people that werent aware of the error. Sweet.
  24. Hi Jason, It was my first time crewing at LFCC and I have to say I really enjoyed myself. Of course it has taken me a day and a half to recover but I will be putting myself forward to help again in the future!! Nas
