Damn! Still, on the plus side, it frees up money for someone else. Maybe another Buffy alum. -
Are there any parties during Con?
whitewillow replied to Steve B's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2017
There's also a meet-up on 27th July before the con; you'll find the thread somewhere in this forum. -
I get it too. Currently I log in about once a day, but as it gets closer to the event I do multiple times a day. Welcome to the club!

Great! Someone I wanted to meet! -
Also, since someone mentioned toilets: if you have some free time, go to the toilet even if you don't feel the need right now. You don't want to feel the need to go when you are standing in line/at a talk.

If you aren't interested in autographs you might want to opt for the late entry tickets which are cheaper. if you're getting autographs it's important to arrive early to get an early place in the virtual queue, but if you aren't getting autographs you can arrive late, no problem. Only problem is if a talk you want to go to is before your ticket entry time. But I think you'll be able to upgrade your ticket to early access if that is the case. Another thing is that it is traditionally very hot inside the con area, due to the large number of people. Last year was a bit of an exception, since they got a larger area, so maybe this year will be the same. However, "exception" means it was warm instead of stifling. So you'll still need to wear cool clothing. Bring a cardigan for when you're outside or at a talk (which is generally cooler). There is an FAQ thread posted on the forum nearer to the event. You might want to check the FAQ at last year's forum as most of it will be the same.

Newbie Here..just a couple of questions
whitewillow replied to ClassicWebby's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2017
Last year they did the bag check before people joined the queue in the morning, so when the doors openned at 9 everyone got in very quickly. If you want to get autographs from popular guests you should queue before 9. Usually the more expensive someone is, the more popular they are. -

I think also the policy is, when there are half-day tickets, the photo shoots given a morning slot are ones where there is a second shoot in the afternoon. I.e. if a guest has only one photo shoot, that will be after the entrance time for the half-day tickets.

When will we know which day an author attends?
whitewillow replied to whitewillow's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2017
And she replied on tumblr!! " I’ll definitely be there, but I don’t have a schedule yet. I’ll probably be there every day. But watch my website for details as I have them… " -
When will we know which day an author attends?
whitewillow replied to whitewillow's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2017
Thanks Raylenth and natedammit. I can't contact her on twitter because I don't have twitter, but I have checked her official website and it doesn't list the appearance yet. I have also emailed YALC, and will try contacting her through tumblr. Hopefully one of these attempts will bear fruit! -
I see that Joanne Harris will be at LFCC this year and I really want to meet her, however it doesn't say anywhere which day(s) she will be in attendance. I seem to remember from previous LFCCs that the author schedule is announced 1-2 weeks before the Con, however I was wondering if there's any information about Joanne's day earlier? I want to decide whether to book all 3 days or only Sat & Sun. (Booking just Sat & Sun and adding Friday at the last minute if necessary isn't an option, since I also have to book flights).

Fewer people at LFCC this year?
whitewillow replied to whitewillow's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2016
My friends volunteered to drive me to Waterloo after the con ended on Sunday. Well, after 20 minutes in which we had covered distance I could have walked in 15 minutes, I got out of the car and got the tube. Never driving/getting driven in London again! -
Please keep this new format for next year

I agree, it was a great improvement on last year! Thanks, Showmasters, keep it this way! -
Fewer people at LFCC this year?
whitewillow replied to whitewillow's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2016
I don't really want to complain about the less-crowded situation either, but I'm a bit concerned that if Showmasters don't get their money's worth from the extra space it will go back to the smaller space of previous years. -
This is sth that has been bugging me all week: did fewer people attend the Con this year? It's not just that it was less crowded, because that could be an illusion caused by the lots of extra space; it's the fact that I got really low VT numbers this year. Last year all numbers were in the triple digits, and I starting queueing at 8; this year Saturday I got double digits numbers and one number 152 (Jack Gleeson), and Sunday I got number 80-sth for Jack Gleeson. I joined the queue 7:45 or Sat and 8 on Sun, so not that much earlier. I hope the decline in attendance, if it actually happened, was due to overcrowding last year, and now the problem has been solved more people will come next year.

Sean Maher leaving early on Sunday?
whitewillow replied to whitewillow's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2016
Damn, seems my friend should have perservered more. She must have come back while he was still on a break. Seems she missed him for no reason. Anyway thanks for clearing this up. -
Sean Maher seemed to leave early on Sunday, does anyone know why that is? A friend of mine came late and I advised her to go to Mads Mikkelsen first as he had a talk at 15:15. The time was around 14:30 and just as she was about to finish Mads and move over to Sean, he got up and left. We thought maybe he was going on a lunch break but she came back later and he didn't seem to come back. I know guest sometimes leave early if there's no one queueing (Sean had an empty open queue at the time), but according to the FAQ that is 16:30 early, not 14:30 early. So does anyone know what happened there? I feel a bit guilty for not telling my friend to go to Sean first.

Forum Meet Up - 30th July
whitewillow replied to PenThePirate's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2016
Had a great time at the meeting-looking forward to next year! -
I want to second what everyone said about it being better this year. The extra space really made a difference, you could easily move around and the air condition had a chance to work, so it wasn't hot like it was the previous years. I could actually wear a cardigan in some places! The change in how we queued to get in was also a great idea; checking everyone's tickets before they joined the queue, so when it was time for the doors to open everyone could just rush in. It was a really successful and enjoyable weekend for me! My improvement suggestions for next year: better sound in the main stage area. At the GoT talk me and my friend were at the back and we had difficulty hearing better seats in the main stage area maybe put the air conditioning at a slightly higher temperature in the main stage area? After attending 2 talks back-to-back I was freezing, even with my cardigan on

Who is looking forward to the long Cosplay walk?
whitewillow replied to Pod0509's topic in London Film & Comic Con 2016
I've felt a bit self-conscious on public transport, but as you get nearer the venue there are more cosplayers so you don't look so weird. This is the first year I will be staying in a hotel and walking instead of using the tube, so we will see how that goes (if I will meet more cosplayers on the way). My hotel is in West Cromwell Rd, so 15' walk. -
