  1. might just be a case of showmasters having to refill the online store stock, we'd just hold off a few days and try again.
  2. we do'nt think Tim Curry's current condition allows him to travel, let alone sign at conventions: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3114812/Tim-Curry-makes-rare-public-appearance-suffering-stroke-accepts-Lifetime-Achievement-Award-Tony-Awards-party.html
  3. We're not sure if Tim's medical condition would even allow him to make the travel/do convention/sign autographs as he's suffered quite a severe stroke some time ago - would love to meet him though
  4. we absolutly LOVED how quiet it was last year compared the summer edition! very ...refreshing? Also; so many interesting guests for us! :)
  5. We haven't seen anyone losing their mind in this thread or in the offering of their opinion. In the OP, you said you didn't see the use in getting more than 1 autograph, the majority disagrees with you. Most everyone doing this for a hobby (because that's what it is to most, a fun hobby) knows the possibility exists they won't be able to reach the person they want to meet and they accept that. Why you, someone who said he "isn't really an autograph person", finds it necessary to shoot down the ones who do collect autographs down for that, is completely beyond us. In that same regard, you can ask "Why take more then 1 picture during a panel? Surely 1 picture should be enough proof and/or memory that you were at the panel".. frankly because..reasons! Why take more than 1 photo during a photoshoot, maybe the person wants one in cosplay and one without (such as people wanting one autograph on a poster and one on a 10x8) ..Again, their reasons are their own. You might have waited your entire life to be on a picture with them (because "I prefer having the personal experience of having my picture taken") while some people might not enjoy seeing themselves on photo and have waited their entire life for the person to sign one/two/several items of theirs as a keepsake. Not everyone likes having their picture taken. If you start off a thread with that title and start your OP with a jugemental "your selling or being greedy" later continuing with an air of quasi sarcastic remarks in reply to people's honest opinion on YOUR question, you may have brought the title of your thread upon yourself. Self-proclaimed profecies and all... we agree with this Also an extra note: we'll gladly pay for extra autographs if we know the actor/actress involved donates everything/ A large portion to his/her own charity/ A charity they support, which we KNOW quite a few of them do... how is that greedy and/or selfish?
  6. As demonstrated in all the replies, people have their reasons for doing it, you clearly disagree with it all (seeing as you've repeated it several times) but this is one of those things where it really is "to each their own" Most of the time (we'll call 99% of the time) each autograph from the same person will be completely different. One will have a personal message, another will have a quote, yet another will be on a piece of merchandise or a special memerobilia. The large majority of people standing in the queue are people just like you and they have to wait just as long. they're not waiting for the character but the actor portraying (all of?) their favorite character(s). We're sorry to say, respectfully, we feel your replies sound a little judgemental and we don't fully understand why you post a thread with a question you seem to feel the need to bounce back/feel defensive with the same reply every time someone replies with their reasons to your question. About the interviews; if the crew member sitting next to the guest is doing their jobs well (which they usually are) those 10 minute interviews will only happen if approved by showmasters press office AND red shirts and will have been planned in advance (only allowed with press badge). Impromptu interviews by "supposed press" just won't happen if everyone does their jobs well because it's simply not allowed - we say this as people who've experienced both the "press" and "customer" side of the events We have absolutely 0 problem with the 5 limit per VQ. We think it's perfectly reasonable. We'll only follow the reasoning that vendors/dealers who go way beyond that and sometimes have 50 items to sign are holding up the queue because they're just doing it to make money. They don't really care about the person in front of them.. (usually) and they ARE just there for the character.
  7. ^ one on a singular item (such as a photo), and one on a collectors item (such as a poster signed by several cast members) for example. There are a lot of reasons we can come up with - and why we personally have had - multiple items signed at the same time. It's not greed, we're not selling things. We've never sold an autograph, they all have different meanings for us. Sometimes we do queue on multiple days to get multiple things signed, sometimes we don't. Depends on schedule & time.
  8. how very groundhog day-esque of you! #QueueingForNextYear
  9. thanks for all your input, guys! Very interesting to see what everyone else thinks on the venues & their layouts! :) we have no idea about UK venues, but are there - in fact - (London area) venues that would be large enough to support the capacity of LFCC crowd?
  10. We do have to say though, that people just walking in without a badge/pass/... we find them extremely selfish & it can cause a safety hazard for those inside the building. that being said, it's also a good reason for those at the doors to screen everyone wanting to enter the building every time someone comes in (not just the first time) and why proper training is important. ESPECIALLY when the venue is sold out and at max capacity.
  11. With LFCC done (and dusted) and everyone having about a week to recompose themselves and gather their thoughts, with its history at Earl's Court and the re-use of the Olympia, what to you were the pros & cons of each location? Understandably, there won't be another event at Earl's Court, we just want to see people's views, which do they prefer & why; are there things from one venue you'd like to transplant into the other Personally, we liked the fact that Earl's Court only had a single, open-plan floor; but the lighting inside was pretty dreadful. Olympia may be bigger in size, but we feel the multiple floors is a bit of a downside & can make the overall FEEL smaller while it's actually not would be interesting to see how the promised 40% extra space for next year willl open the venue or influence the feeling of..Full..ness
  12. we assume the corect answer to the OP would be "no" as the diamond pass is still a pass and the T&Cs say (no matter if it's a wristband, a hole-puncheable card or a printed e-ticket-) that passes are still non transfereable this isn't to say we're sure it did happen, but the correct, according-to-the-rules reply would be "no"
  13. we believe the single stallone photo op when he came to the UK last year was around 385 pounds, we could be wrong but we remember posting something about it on a forum or facebook group
  14. Honestly, There are A LOT of films that "could" be celebrated every year..In our opinion, they shouldn't celebrate something specific every year (or...at all, even) - we appreciate the fact that a lot of fans want to see these actors in one room again, but if it's the same as it was with this lfcc, we also feel as though these "specials" tend to cause a very niche market and narrow down the variety of guests (or even narrow everyone's views on who's "supposed" to come) severely (this year, the guest list was so focused on the BTTF/Star Wars (which is basically celebrated EVERY TIME) /Elm Street celebrations, top that with a buckload of DR who guests and you had the majority of guests listed no specials, please
  15. We have an honest question towards SM about the organization of these events; because we've been to quite a few LFCCs etc in the last few years. Every year - after X amount of days/weeks, SM releases a statement on the forum about things they could have improved, things that went alright & they'll definitely be implimenting again the following year. Every year we see something in the nature of "a lot of tickets were sold but X% of the people went in the venue, did what they had to do and left; leaving space for others". We're wondering if SM doesn't underestimate the amount of people that actually stay at the venue the entire day. We're not saying we know every person visiting a comic con (because that would be rediculous) but we do know a lot of con visitors and we can honestly say that all of the people we know stay for the duration of the day; whether they are cosplayers or just hanging around for events to happen. We don't know anyone who actually leaves after having been at the venue for 2 hours because it's too expensive a trip for most of them to just spend 2-4 hours there and leave. If they pay to soak up the con experience, they want to take all of it in, not just the morning.
  16. Here's more info on Richard Speight JR's "Kings of Con" as well - which to us reads a bit like scripted reality https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/kings-of-con#/story
  17. with 2 actual fictional shows/webseries about the con experience coming up (one by Alan Tudyk & co, the other by Richard Speight Jr-) we're pretty sure it's only a matter of time before it happens, however if it happens, we hope they wait as to not innundate everything with "the con experience"
  18. press aren't allowed to record talks - just when they have very specific clearance to do so. At least that's what our experience was at winter LFCC when we did have clearance to film the entire battlestar talks and put them up on youtube for our site.
  19. so sorry to hear that! We hope something can be done
  20. to our knowlegde, the T&C's of the diamond pass (which go both ways) say that you are GUARANTEED an auto ... so they should sort it
  21. Lights went off where we were standing, BW91
