  1. Lets not fool ourselves here ok, the people on this forum are the kind that will be there at 5am. The people on this forum are professionals, they will sleep for days prior to this event just so they can get there and be wide awake but here is the good part, they are the kind that buy everything. They buy all the photoshoots and early bird entrys, they provide a lot of money for these shows. They also panic buy although I do believe if Stan Lee was 30 years younger things would be a little different. Absolutely tickets should be available on the day, on the door for regular people who don't know about forums, who don't plan the shows 3 years in advance lol. There are many people out there who no offence, have a lot of things going on in their life and this is just a day out for them where as for many of you, this event has been playing on your mind every single day for 12 months. It's obsessive which is fine. We all have our quirks in life but things like this is unfair for those that are just there for a day out. It's kind of like turning up to a party that you've not been invited to. It's not gonna be nice for many people. This year will be interesting.
  2. I think Stan should be in a big leather chair about 20 feet off the ground and one by one the fans are summoned to him and rather than signing his name he just signs 'SL' and then a security person says ' you are free to leave, bring forth the next person '. There will always be people who will never understand paying money for an autograph and therefore will never do it but like other aspects of the weekend. Also it depends on money, I've no doubt many people use credit cards and get into all kinds of debt but that's no different than someone spending all their money on alcohol and cigarettes and not having much food to keep them going. People will always put their interests first before the important things. None of us need a Stan Lee autograph. People want one but the important thing is getting your rent paid or mortgage paid, feeding your kids, making sure the heating is paid, the water is paid. Those are the important things and for many people, they can't afford a lot at these shows. So if you're going to these shows and spending hundreds of pounds over the weekend...........and you are it doing without getting into debt or using credit cards or borrowing money off people then you are lucky. If you can go to LFCC and know that your rent is paid or mortage is paid and that the heating bills and water bills are paid and there's food in the fridge when you get home then you guys are gonna love it. However for many many people, the reality is much different. When it comes to Stan Lee it will be one or the other. To put it into even more of a perspective, his autograph is not that far off what a lot of people get off the government feed and heat them all week. It is a lot of money. For someone on benefits or someone who's unemployed it's just not possible or it's very difficult to plan your money that way but then again shows like this are targeted towards people with money especially young people.
  3. Anytime I need to go to England it's get in and get out. I can easily do what I want in a day and I'm no fan of paying for hotels in London because I only go if I want to meet certain people and I don't watch TV shows so 99.9% of the guests that are there I do not know and oddly enough any guest I do go see is usually announced nearer the time and I just don't like booking accomodation so close to the shows. I can't complain because I tend to get everything done that I want to. Even this year for instance I'm only going for one guest and thinking of just doing the Friday but that means I get from around 7am till 6pm to do what I want in London, 3 hours at the preview then a nice long trip home so it's not a complete waste. I don't know how busy the stalls will be on the Friday or if all the dealers will be there. I'm hoping to get some unique prints to get signed. I know it's not that big over here but in America at shows there for the past few years it's very popular to have 10x12 mini poster prints next to the 8x10s for signing and I think i'd like something a bit bigger than 8x10 this time round so hopefully I'll pick something up from the dealers.
  4. I have to disagree. there might be trouble with drunk football hooligans especially with us cosplaying. Why? I'm sure they wouldn't say anything to you. Security for cosplayers! Security bus to the venue and to the hotels lol.
  5. You enjoyed yourself though didn't you. That's the main thing.
  6. Coming from Glasgow myself i understand. I always feel when I leave London that you're back to reality again.London seems like a little bubble that is unlike anywhere else in the UK and I guess for people there that is their reality. It's very money driven too, i remember riding the trains and I'd never seen so many people well dressed before lol. You start buying into this illusion that's in front of you, you start looking at the clean pavements and roads and the upper class women that are out jogging at 6am and you think wow......must be cool to live here! it's only when you enter and leave and you start to see all those tenement buildings as far as the eye can see and the amount of people that must crammed into them that you start to realise it's not that different than up here. The people in them no doubt are working hard for a better life which is what we all do really. I think a lot of people there probably do just keep themselves to themselves. Up here in Glasgow we are known for being very helpful but we get mocked for our accent so I always feel that sometimes when I go to another place and lets be honest England is another country, there is no UK, come September that will be a fact but I always watch what I say so that they understand me but you can't make people talk to you. I think with the English people and the same with the Welsh and Irish, they talk in their native tongue all the time but of course we get a lot of stick for it. If you come from Edinburgh or Fife it's fine. It's just Glasgow that gets all the fuss but then again we have personality, something that severely is lacking elsewhere in Scotland. I'd like to think for anyone travelling up here that if they asked for help that people in our city would be glad to help them. The last time I went to London for LFCC was 2012 and I got there early, not at the show but in London. I think it was about 6am and I remember come 9am it was still deserted. Just tourists walking around and I'd seen all the usual sights. It was a bit lonely. I remember having to perk myself up to go the convention and if you know me and you Scottish people that is no easy feat. I don't even know if i'm going this year or not, i'm thinking about it. I'd only be going for George Romero so it's a 9 hour bus ride so if i go i need to pick a day, probably sunday and mentally prepare for it lol.
  7. Does Ban stand for Beautiful and Naughty?
  8. Anytime i've seen George he's always seemed very agile. How do you pose when a guest is in a chair? George will be fine on the day.
  9. I got confused at first but after a few trips it was so easy and they are so quick and regular that you can go back and forth all over London within minutes. I can go to LFCC then go somewhere else for hours then go back to the venue easily. The pass is better because it lasts you all day and you'll see people going to the show, you'll see cosplayers. Just follow them.
  10. I get the ticket that lets you ride the subway as much as you want.
  11. It's enough for him to say hello, ask a question, give her the gift and whatever conversation happens will happen with Jenna talking. No one is going to pass up a conversation with someone that they have stood and waited in line hours for and paid money to see. This is one thing that baffles me. I don't know if it's a new British thing, it definately is a Scottish thing. No one cares about anyone else and if you stick them in a situation where they've stood, literally stood for hours on end to meet someone and then paid money on top of that to meet them, any goodness that was there originally goes out the window. That's how we are in the UK, we're known for being miserable as sin. The OP will find this out, he will look back on this thread and realize I told him the truth. When he's stood for over 3 hours before the doors even open, his mindset like many others is restlessness and just get in, get what you need done and get out. It's a stress for many people. The payoff comes when you get what you need done. That's what makes it worthwile. That's what you get out of it so when people meet their idols and heroes.....of course they want to talk to them because that is why they are there. Now by this point, if the goodness in their heart that was there maybe 3,4,5 hours prior is still there and they're really up beat and positive there is every chance they might just say you know what, I'll think about everyone else rather than myself. I've stood for 5 hours so I'll just not bother saying anything, i'll just try and hurry up and get my signature and get out but knowing Britain and how false we all are to each other in everyday life I can't see that happening. I don't know anyone in real life that would do that because that is what you are asking people to do. Morally it might be right but we don't live in a moral world. Look at Stan Lee. Do you really believe there isn't gonna be people that are so emotional and excited to meet him that they wont try and get a hello and a handshake off him? I bet you there will be people that will delibaretely bring as many items as they can to get signed just to spend more time with him and a get a quick word with him while he is signing and even though morally that might be the wrong thing to do, in reality, that person is probably a huge huge fan, probably more so than the person behind them just getting an 8x10 and if they're paying all that money and they are huge fans or Stans of Stan lol.......then morally....you could look at that situation and think, why ruin it for that fan? That's what these events are designed for, for fans. That's why the guests sit behind a desk, it's for the fans to get up close and personal. If it was only about the signatures then Showmasters would just Fed Ex a box of 8x10s. Signatures are a bonus. The real reason people go is to meet the person. You can't please everyone. That's why these events are spread across a weekend. Hopefully over the 3 day period everyone will be pleased but it will never happen. But if you're there early enough and you've put in the time for it and you've prepared for it then you deserve anything you can get, even if it is just a 30 second conversation. It's just like someone said before about people letting others join the que outside at 9am, just walking into line while everyone else who has stood for hours still has stand in line. It's the British thing to do though to not say anything rather than saying something but I think the person behind them deserves more time with a guest than someone who walks right in when they feel like it. That's why I told him to get there early and get to her que for a VT right away, that's why I said have your camera ready or your phone ready and if there's no posed photo sign to not be afraid to ask her at her table for a quick photo. The people jumping the que are wrong, that's just one thing in a long list of things that will happen because like I said, people put themselves first and no one deserves to lose out but someone who has spent weeks prior preparing to meet a guest, just for their own personal need, nothing financial or professional...shouldn't be put off by anyone and that is how a lot of people come across online. I think if many people got their way it literally would just be lifeless. It would be like shopping Tescos. Just very bland and nothing happening. That's just life. If anything you guys should be the ones most excited because you're on the official forum. Yous are already like super fans of these events and the guests they have. You deserve to have a good time and not just assume the worst all the time and that everyone will be busy and there wont be time for anything and need to do this and do that. If you put in the time......and it's free.....and you get there early. You wont have a worry in the world that day at the show. But you need to put in the time for it.
  12. If it's an open que then do what you like. You wont be standing in line like a school pupil lol. Fingers on lips boys and girls! And remember and think of the person behind you before you think of yourself even though they are paying the same money you are. Don't chat too long think of their poor tired legs standing in line behind you lol. I made myself laugh. And that's the key I think shayson. Let it work itself out on the day, don't worry about it now. Don't let others bring you down, the last think you want is to go there worrying. Whether you wait till her que is quiet or if it ends up an open que at the end of the day or if it's mega busy, when you meet her and give her your present or you get your autograph just talk to her. Never mind the internet and what others are doing. There is no way she is going to take a gift from you and NOT acknowledge it. Of course she's gonna ask about it because everyone loves gifts and shes just a regular person like you or me. Look at Stan Lee, you can bet there will be people taking things to him he's never seen before and he will ask about them.
  13. Go to the cash machines in a public place like a train station, town area, bus terminal. With me being Scottish our money not being accepted I have no choice but to go to the ATM to lift English money. We of course accept everything but that'll change in September. We will have our own currency.
  14. You live in London. Not everyone happens to live there, for many people they need to travel there for hours on end and then find their way to the venue which is an added stress especially if you are on your own.
  15. Then you should have said something. You should have said excuse me you piece of scum get to the back of the line where you belong before i take my jacket off and start using my super hero powers on you in front of everyone. It helps if you have the body build suited to tanktops. And gel your hair. That always looks cool. Actually no wait a minute. Pretend you're a cockney gangster who's there as security for the que. Pretend you're a bodyguard dressed as a civilian and you could be like 'hey don't make me get on the phone and get.....Too Tall out here' lol.
  16. Why doesnt someone bring like a big tent and you can all camp out 24 hours before it and bring marshamallows and portable bbqs and can be like one big showmasters party. Someone could make sandwiches and bring juice and you could all play games like charades and play music and dance.
  17. The only way you can speak to her without paying is if it is an open que and the best chance of that happening is near the end of the day when things are quieter. Open ques mean you can literally speak to them at the table and pay at the table.
  18. Unless you get there early Shayson. It's free to stand in line, it only costs you your time, get there early, get in early and meet her and if there's no signs then ask her at the table with your camera ready is it ok to take a picture. The staff at these shows are fine too. They really do help you and will take the picture for you if you want. You'll see crazier things. Most people will be heading for Stan Lee, you'll see grown men and women running and fighting and shoving to get to his que lol. You've got every chance to meet her and spend more time with her simply because of that, even if that time is just a quick chat and hello and a hearty handshake lol. I always like shaking guests hands, that means they know you're a real fan. If you're not a comic book fan, Stan Lee is a blessing for you because he's gonna literally take so many people away from other parts of the Comic Con because people know with his photoshoots and his time that they've no choice but to go directly to him if they want to see him.
  19. What you do is you get there early, get a good sleep the night before, get in line early and when you talk to her at the table have your camera out and ask her is it ok if i have a picture with you. Either the person behind you will take it or if there is staff there ask them to take it. Of course things change during the day but even guests who will be busy are known to take pictures at the table early on. Even if for some reason there is no posed photos from the very start of the morning, it's worth the wait to try. Try and get a VT early or in line early.
  20. It's time to take Glasgow in a new direction after the huge success of Robert England last year and what we need is a huge horror name to headline the event.
  21. I suppose adding more days could help things and spreading bigger guests across certain days would help ques. I think having Stan Lee this year will give people an idea on how things will be going forward. It will depend how many leave with nothing and how many leave with something and no doubt both sides will be flooding the forum with their opinions after the event is over. Companies bringing people in can certainly help. I know in the States for many convention goers they HATED the Walking Dead guests because it attracted people who would never normally go to a convention and also AMC were the ones setting the prices so it was $40+ per cast member, AMC even provided the 8x10s and you could only have certain images signed. I don't know if that changed over time or not but certainly over there where guests charge what they want it cause a lot of them to increase their prices and then if you wanted a picture at the table using your own camera you had to pay more money and that was guests that were normally happy to chat to fans and take pictures for free. It's all very money driven and of course it will die before it gets better. It has to. It has to hit rock bottom before it can be built back up into what it originally was. Over here it is different. I know that would never happen over here since prices are set and do not change over the 3 days and guests are not really in control of what they do and can't able to change their prices on a whim but I think making autographs affordable should stay. I don't think having an event that is carried on the shoulders of lots of big stars with high prices is the way to go. If that was the case then everyone really would be standing or waiting for a certain que all day rather than checking out the other guests and then would it even be worthwhile bringing lots of other guests over if they're not going to get as much time with people or even get noticed because some people can only afford to go a certain day and they must meet this one person.
  22. Over in the States this has caused so much anger of the past few years with TV shows becoming more popular and guests charging outragous prices for autographs and not only is it great but extremely hilarious to watch. I sincerely hope it doesn't rear it's head this side of the pond though. Paying anyone for an autograph is already a big thing, and most people rightly don't understand it. Paying for someone to scribble their name? Outrageous! It's a business. It's an ego thing at the very heart and soul of it which is why when you meet these actors you need to........well, you should take it with a pinch of salt. Do not think these people are your friends, and I most certainly don't because I know their game but we do it and put on a face because we have things to say or we like certain things they have done or we have an item we want signed so that it can be displayed or framed. The only person that I would make an exception for is Jack Nicholson but even I am not stupid to think Jack Nicholson is sitting behind a desk for 8 hours because he loves his fans so much and he's nice and giving that he's giving his time to meet his fans. I know it's just another pay day but like with everyone else, no doubt it would be hundreds of £££s, you put your face on, you smile, you practice your best speaking voice and you get on with it. It's only a matter of time before the big stars get involved more regularly.
  23. Did you get a signed 8x10 of your Dad?
