  1. Was he wearing a red following the nerd t shirt and press necklace by any chance? I think so but could be wrong. If he was, it's my friend Phil lol :). He is very lovely, friendly and funny. Well when you next speak to him ask him if he was talking to someone in the David H queue Friday night about being strangled. If he says yes then it was :) Hiya, i was in the Stan Lee queue on the Friday morning wih an umbrella and then in the first batch for Carrie Fisher on Saturday morning, I wa very exicted and probably chatting to everyone, oh and im from Belfast and wore a "Following the Nerd" shirt with "Cast" on the back lol
  2. I got the following: "Phil, all my love, Carrie Fisher" "To Phil, Ian McDiarmuid, Can it be done....?" "To Phil, Fellow Crewman, Ian Hurt" "To Phil, You still barking little doggy? Michael Madsen" "To Phil, To bad you won't you live.... Edward James Olmos" "To Phil, all my love, Dax - Terry Farrell" "To Phil, Out with the old, in with the new - Paul Freeman (This was on a House of Cards Picture:) These are just some of the more memorable ones i asked for, especially the Craiie Fisher one:)
  3. Thank you Jason for taking the time to get back to us and for clarifying the "Stan Lee" situation. In regards to the over crowding, i and others made comments about not being able to exit the building (i specifically wrote that i was refused to use an emergency exit as i had been trying to exit for ten minutes!) Other comments I made have also not yet had a response such as: Queues for buying tickets for photoshoots: These must be policed more vigourously for fiarness to attendees to stop queue jumping and they need to be quicker as attendees missed out on purchasing photo shoots for that night. Trailerfest: Three trailers on a loop is not a "trailerfest" - were there supposed to be more or was it always just the three? smoking righto outside the front of the building in a non-smoking areas, this is illegal. "kettling" of attendees at photo shoots Guest talks: will attendees actually have th e oppertunity to put questions to the guests and not have your compere hogging the mic? I read your suggestion about exclusive autograph & photograph packages for the A-List Guests and whilst in theory this seems an interesting idea, i would like to think that there would be no real extra cost to the attendee as you may aswell just purchase a Gold/Silver Ticket. If that is the case, then why not make more Gold and Silver tickets available. Looking forward to your response:)
  4. I have some comments i would like to make as I attended all three days. i WONT make any comment on the entrance queues as i had press pass and was fortunate enough to gain entry prior to opening each day for photographs etc. I do however have other comments i would like to make: 1/ The Sales desk queues were horrendous. I was queued in one particular line from 6:15 until 7:50pm to buy one photo ticket on the Friday evening pre-show. I commented several times to blue shirts that ALL other queues were moving and mine was at a stand still. The replies were "Oh someone was buying bulk tickets of 10 per guest". This may have been true but i and others in the queue noticed that a nother line and group had formed out of nowhere and they were being seen too first. I fully understad the popularity of "buying photoshoots on the day" but the queue jumping has to stop as it is costing more than just time, tempers were running VERY high. 2/ Guests were leaving before the event finnished: I don't know if anyone else expereienced this but a number of guests were leaving before 9pm (I went to Terry Farell's queue on Friday night at 8:40 only to be told the queue was closed!!! The following relate to Saturday and Sunday: 3/ Over capacity! I commented to a blue shirt that there were too many people in the EC2 and that it was dangerous, he informed me that "yeah, it is a bit crowded in here". I recommended he let a red shirt know and maybe do something about it, not sure if he did. This was at about 11:42, just after I had got Carrie Fisher's autograph and I was on my way to her photoshoot. After the photoshoot i was gasping for air and tried to make my way to the front door. After moving only a few feet in ten minutes going against those coming in, i turned around and made my way to an emergency exit which was guarded by an event sec security person. I went to open the door and he said it "was for emergencies only, you cant open it, go to the front of the hall" When i told him i had tried to exit through the front he simply shrugged and said just move to the front of the hall. That was it it!! Totally deplorable! This was basic health and safety, too many people in a crowded enclosed area and i was unable to leave the venue either by emergency exit or the front door! 4/ "Kettling" at photoshoots/special guests boxes: This is another issue regarding crowds in tight enclsed spaces. You contsantly tell everyone to "Move right up, move right up" until your are brushing shoulders with people in the opposite direction in the same queue! There is NO personal space, and due to the heat in the hall, there was virtually no room to breath. This must be redressed urgently as it seems to get worse at every con; hundreds of people toe to toe, back to back breathing in everyone else's air is not healthy, not comfortable and especially in the case of photoshoots, you are ending up in a sweaty miserable state before your 5seconds to smile and "Snap", next please! 5/ Trailerfest: Three trailers is not a Trailer fest, especially as one of the films has been in the cinema for nearly two weeks!!! Trailerfest was widely hyped and i and others ended up extremely disappointed. Plus side though was that i was able to get a seat:) 6/ Talks: I love talks but i found it extremly annoying when you cant hear what the guests are saying! These talks need to be in another area, preferably in a room, seats are limited anyway so it shouldnt be a problem, but if you are attending a talk (especially a paid one), you need to be able to hear what the guests are saying and not have thumping guitar music blaring! Another point, which was made at last years LFCC was that your "compere" (the scottish chap) is simply not good. Last year he spoilt the walking dead talk by asking them not to talk about episodes that he hadnt seen, This year he was biased to questions from one side of the room, and thats when he wasn't hogging the mic for mundane and silly questions from himself. Please, if its a genuine Q&A for attendees, then just let the attendees ask all of the questions and have someone just do the introductions and brief bio! 7/Smoking: There are laws in place that state it is illeagal to smoke unless you are in designated areas, yet right on the front steps of both of the halls, people were openly smoking in front of staff and crew! Its bad enough that you were struglling for breath due to over capacity, but to get out side and be smothered by nicotine, carbon monxide and other chemicals from tobacco is simply outrageous! Please enforce this more thouroughly for your next convention! I do however have a few plus points from the weekend: 1/ Personalisations: I am so pleased that i was able to get personalisations from Carrie Fisher, John Hurt and Ian McDiarmuid on the autographs. Though i made sure i was in the first group for autographs for each of the above guests, this certainly made my weekend, thank you. 2/ The crew lady at the Carrie Fisher autograph signing on Saturday and Ian McDiarmuid on Sunday morning, thank you; you were very kind, courteous and helpful and great at letting me and others get personalisations. 3/ The Auction: True that its not really a silent auction, but you have really put the effort into this and it shows. Great selection of items, clear list and descriptions and when the auction started, the Scottich lady gave the bidders and prices in a clear and loud tone, brilliant:) 4/ Retro Gaming: This was a brilliant addition to LFCC, well done for the those who came up withthe idea. The machines were in great condition and working order (complete with lighson the 10p coins slots:). Considering the abuse and use they received from the whole weeekend, im surprised they are still functioning. Please can these be brought back again, with perhaps some new multi player games such as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, The Simpsons and Operation Thunderbolt:) My overall experience would have been extremley disappointing if it wasnt for the guests personalisations and also having friends literally bump into me. In a room full of thousands of peple, several of my friends found me and vice versa, miracles do happen and it really brightened up my con weekend.
  5. Totally gutted Natalie has cancelled, that, Pedro and George Harris in the last two days alone have really "hurt." Please SM, pull a magic rabbit from your guest list hat and get Mark Hamill or Anthony Daniels:)
  6. OMG, Thank you so much SM!!!! An SM Comic Con in my home town and the venue is 5 mins from where i live, i love you guys, The "Nerd" will definitely be going to this one:)
  7. I like that idea of the guest posing once for a shot in say an LFCC T-Shirt, something to prove they were at the event and in a pose, could be a humorous one or one they are perhaps famous for. The time element wouldn't be that much as it would only take say 10-15mins to set up and fans would be guaranteed a fairly unique photo and autograph. What does everyone else think?
  8. For me, the pic has to be Carrie in her full Hoth outfit from TESB:) She looked amazing in it and it was the best movie out of all the star wars sagas:)
  9. Im so chuffed!!!!! Well pleasd that Carrie fisher is coming, thank you so much SM. I really do hop she will personalise though, a simple "To Phil" is all im asking, its not like im asking her phone her phone number lmao
  10. Well said MAdMOnster, i totally forgot about their health and age. Ok, new advice, clone yourself and attend multiple queues at the same time, that way you are guaranteed to meet everyone:)
  11. Having been to a number of cons my advise with wanting a high number of auto's in one day is this: 1/ Get the VT for the biggest names who are there for one day only first. 2/ Take a look at the photo schedule so you know when guests will have to depart for phot oops and talks and make a few notes so you will know when to queue and when to leave it until later on, 3/ The guests who have signed multiple times such as Kenny Baker, Dave Prowse, Jeremy Bulloch I would leave until the last hour or so as their queues will be pretty clear by that stage. This is just something that i do for myself and may not work for everyone, but i hope its helps:)
  12. Hiya, I too will be staying at the Boka Hotel on Friday and Saturday night, might see you around there:)
  13. I have travel from Belfast and have attended LFCC and Collectormania con's for a few years now on my own and I can honestly say, hand on my nerdy heart, that i have never felt "alone" ever! I have made numerous friends from attending the various shows, simply by talking to someone in a queue to having a chat in a small group. For me, that is what keeps me coming back to these shows, not just the guests, but the chance to spend time with friends who i wouldn't have met otherwise. True, i may be quite a jovial chap, but then again, who isn;t when they have just met someone they have admired for years, or got a photogrpah and a smile from a hero of theirs. I know that everyone may not be as "welcoming" as me, but in a hall full of thousands of like minded individuals, trust me in that you will never be "alone":)
  14. Im autograpg mad and if somone appeared in a rv show or film that i liked then i will most likely get their autograph, i also get the odd photograph too. Currently i am looking to get approx 26 autographs and 5 photographs throughout the 3 days:)
  15. I love how most folk automatically think "Director" when they hear "behind the camera". What about Producrs (we already have Gary Kurtz), or even script writers (Lawerence Kasden would be classed as a LEGEND for his work on star wars, Empire strikes back, the indy films), or even Vidal Sasoon as he was a hair stylist and so qualifies as "behind the camera" lol I'll throw in John Glen (legendary Bond film Director), Derek Medings (Legendary Special Effects) and Frank Oz (LEGENDARY in ALL FIELDS:)
  16. Sadly John can't make it, i really did want to see him and hope SM can get him for another event soon.
  17. I'm from Belfast, so as always its a flight to London, then train from the airport, then a tube, then walkies to the hotel,, quick drop off of the luggage then a gentle sprint to the queue:) I'm really looking forward to the whole weekend, oh and i'm wearing my Captain Chaos cosplay again:)
  18. I remember last year that SM asked us if we would be prepared to pay X amount for Christopher Lee, i know this was just a feeler question but perhaps it served a point that there is a VERY high demand for this guest. In aall honesty, I'm guessing it would be one of the big 4 from Star Wars, but who knows. Legendary is a strong word to use, so i only hope the guest they confirm lives up to their build up. Oh what the hell, PLEASE IN ALL OF THE GALAXIES< LET IT BE CARRIE FISHER!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Last year I went as Captain Chaos from the Cannonball Run movies and due to the number of friends pestering me this year, i'll be doing the same again at this con, it was a great laugh last year especially when i sang the Choas's theme tune:)
  20. I met him on Friday morning, he was amazing! He laughed at my "inscription" request, posed for a phot at the table as he didnt have a large queue. I got the impretion that he was actaully quite humbled from meeting his fans, a reall nice guy:)
  21. I'm getting 10x8's of all of the guests that i am after (over 20 at the min) but i have printed out specific photo's for: Sean Pertwee - Juilius Ceasar from BBC's The Fall and Rise of Rome Quentin Pierre - The Empire Strikes Back (ive amended and blown a single image of his Bespin Secuirty Guard) Lee Arenberg - Gral from DS9 It will be a busy weekend for me and i can't wait, see you all Friday:)
  22. Im going on the Friday too and really looking forward to it, see you all there:)
  23. Hi SM, I have have two very quick question sregarding the Stan Lee Autographs: Q1. Will Stan Lee autograph a picture from the X-Men 1990's animated series? Q2. Will STn Lee be doing personlisations on autographs if requested? I know he will be mega busy and appreciate all you folks are doing to eleviate our fears, im just curious though as I would only want his autograph if personalised? If he isn't doing personlistaions, will the crew let people know BEFORE they queu up? Thanks fo ryour help on his folks PS Im really looking forward to Collectormania this time Next Week, WOO HOO:)
  24. OMG!!!!! Thank you SM, a totally amazing guest!!!!! Now i have to choose which pic to get signed, Mr Blonde or Preston from Species:)
  25. Im staying at the hilton doubletree too, and will spend my evenings chatting to friends in the bar whilst recovering from selling my kidneys to pay for my auto's and photo's lol
